Thanks Pete , as always I've learned from you . Prayerfully I will be able to put the knowledge that you veterans are sharing with us all to good use....
I sold a guitar to a guy in SPAIN ONCE . I packed that thing so secure as I could just see the guy opening it after international shipping in pieces . However I did a good job positive feedback . I made the box out of a fridge heavy box
Can you do a video where you're packaging these items up please I would love to see how you do it. I"m new to the channel. #Subscribed. Love the channel also. I'm about to start doing this. Garage sells and craiglist.
I was scared at first to sell the bigger items but the buyers will pay for the shipping. Our highest shipping price so far has been $59. Some pricing is off if we have to ship to the West Coast but we it's only a few dollars more. I would just say to be careful with Hawaii and Alaska on bulky items. Thanks Pete for always sharing great info!
Great vid! I had a Teisco bass guitar I bought in the mid '60's at a pawn shop for $45. A lot of money for me at the time. Teisco is very collectible now, big bucks for them considering they were not quality guitars. Too bad about the globe. I don't use GSP at all, I ship foreign direct. When I put in the size and weight for calculated shipping in the listing it will tell me if it's too big or heavy or whatever.
I actually did ship an antique chair that I had to build a crate for to ship from Wis to Texas once but I was willing to do so because of the amount I got for the chair....$548 plus shipping. ...and yes, I did ship Fed Ex. If I remember correctly the shipping was $200, but you are talking about a huge heavy box. ....3 feet by 2 3/4 feet, by 4 ft.
great video once again. thanks for the entertainment and information. have you ever thought of making a video bout what you pick up and doesn't sell? just wondering. thanks again man
Pete thanks for putting this video out. I took your advice and I found a new in box Kenwood Amplifier for 15.25 at the Goodwill and looks I can get 4 or 5 fold for my money.
Good advice Pete. My record for a bulky/heavy item shipped was the 145 lb anvil I sold a couple years ago. The lady down at the local UPS store about fainted when I brought it in for packing. I'd added a $50 handling charge which paid for the packing and the buyer happily paid another $150 in shipping costs.
Pete, I get pretty rigid cardboard tubes from McMaster-Carr. We have bar stock delivered to work, (Arlington Heights), have you ever tried those tubes? I don't know if they are different from the Uline tubes.
Regarding the "World Globe" Why did "Global Shipping" keep the "World Globe"? Bulky, Big, awkward whatever...Why did they keep it? Why did they not return it to sender stamped "UNDELIVERABLE". It sounds like they just lifted the merchandise. Even if the reason is legitimate why would they not at least give the sender options on how they can retrieve their package back? If anyone has a correct answer to my perplexed question please feel free to respond. Thanks
How do you close off your PVC pipes for the fishing rods? And will the store cut them for you? I really enjoyed the video - and I am feeling toasted since I took Pinching Pesos suggestion. :)
That is a real shame about that globe. I do not like global shipping program. I just handle international on my own. August was slow the last two weeks for me too Pete. I did sell a lot of thermos canteens and insulated tumblers. Kind of a back to school item.
I had a shopper from Australia say she was very interested in some uranium / vaseline glass I had up for sale, but that in 2 past purchases from other sellers, the items had been confiscated by GSP. So why don't they send the stuff back to the seller so we could ship directly if we choose??? It's a shame to lose unique pieces, where do they go? GSP is done by an outside company ... do they sell them off in Kentucky? I would want my things back and I decide what to do with them, it's not about the money. I guess it's all part of the terms and conditions when you agree to opt into GSP, but very frustrating.
Curious, I have several Disney cookie Jars I want to sell, but shipping is the big deal. As a collector's item, people want the original box. Do you recommend padding the original box with original packing material and placing it into another box? I also have other awkward shaped cookie jars that don't have their original box. I used to sell on ebay all of the time but haven't in awhile.
You mention a few times that items with no competition are great sellers. However, I would like to know how do you price these items? Since I always just look at previously sold items on ebay to price my items.
Global shipping doesn't destroy such items--they sell them themselves, I used to have GPS ebay's user name but lost it in a computer crash, but I would check current listings, I wouldn't be surprised if you find your globe listed with US shipping only.
Yes I think that's right. I went to a warehouse auction before in Houston, and I purchased a electric scooter brand new for 30% off price. Apparently UPS shipped the item to a customer from Amazon, but for whatever reason it couldn't be delivered.
So the shipping price doesn't change depending on where the buyer location is ? I always thought eBay used my address to calculate the shipping price on the webpage but from what you said sometimes you have to take it off the top or pocket more money if shipping is cheaper.
No, Pete got paid for the item, eBay refunded the buyer, and theoretically, eBay's Global Shipping department destroyed the item. A similar thing happend to me, the Global Shipping department damaged my item, refunded the buyer, and I kept my money.
I have a question. Can you make your own box by putting two boxes together as long as its sturdy? And the heavier items would go through fed ex right? Thanks for sharing Pete :)
depends on the place you go to drop off, some will bitch and moan. more or less the "pack and ship" type centers. they want you to buy the "right" box because it makes them money.
Why all the expidited shipping on the bigger heavier things? Surely you're just using fedex ground (standard shipping) right? Have any customers complained yet?
eBay has its warehouse in Kentucky where they ship the sold items internationally. This way, the seller is encouraged to sell worldwide and not have to worry about paying an expensive shipping fee or deal with customs red tape.
Fantastic sales for August!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job!!!!!
Thanks for sharing with us!!!!
Love the goodwill and these videos!!!!!
Great tip on using PVC pipes for shipping containers. This would also be a great way to ship expensive posters and artwork.
Thanks, Pete. Enjoy and always learn from your videos. You are a class act in the reseller community!

You are SO Correct.
I sold a guitar to a guy in SPAIN ONCE . I packed that thing so secure as I could just see the guy opening it after international shipping in pieces . However I did a good job positive feedback . I made the box out of a fridge heavy box

Thanks for the video. After watching I found a Harley seat at a garage sale, paid $50, still a good deal.
Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
Great info.

Some of us avoid big stuff because we do not have the storage space or the room to do the packing.
I work out of a 10 x 10 room !!!!!!!!
Awesome Video
inspiring, thanks
great video once again. thanks for the entertainment and information. have you ever thought of making a video bout what you pick up and doesn't sell? just wondering. thanks again man
My only hesitation with really large items is with returns. If they want to send it back you're out that cost
Bro I don't know where your from, but your just made $25,000 in one month, that's impressive keep it up, soon you'll be making 50k+
I'd have to seriously build a woden box for a lathe, but i'd do it, and charge for it.
Pete thanks for putting this video out. I took your advice and I found a new in box Kenwood Amplifier for 15.25 at the Goodwill and looks I can get 4 or 5 fold for my money.
qq
Brandon Troutman did you do so
Yes
Brandon Troutman nice I will have to try that
Great numbers Pete!
Good video Pete. Cheers :-D
I agree about musicians always looking for new gear. Some musicians (like me) are gear junkie, it's a real drug!
Good advice Pete. My record for a bulky/heavy item shipped was the 145 lb anvil I sold a couple years ago. The lady down at the local UPS store about fainted when I brought it in for packing. Couldn't you remove the pipe from the light fixture
I also dumpster dive for boxes. Between dumpsters and Craigslist free ads I never pay for shipping materials.
Pete, I get pretty rigid cardboard tubes from McMaster-Carr. We have bar stock delivered to work, (Arlington Heights), have you ever tried those tubes? I don't know if they are different from the Uline tubes.
Great examples of big bulky profitable items ... thanks for taking the time to make the video!

How should I list a vintage sewing machine with a table? Should I only sell the machine and keep the table, or use local pickup?
i HOPE TO GET 150 TO 175 FOR MY alabaster cylinder light shade . Paid 2 dollars .
Like those ebay fees? Get a ebay store. With 360 items, you are giving ebay money every month free! Use that to buy some boxes!
Can u give us a tour in ur main shop
I will try to make a video like that soon. Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
Global shipping to Kentucky?

nice month, thanks for showing!
Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
do you ever get metal detectors in ??
hi everyone, what apps do you use on your phone to find out prices of items, thanks Andy
You mention a few times that items with no competition are great sellers. However, I would like to know how do you price these items? Since I always just look at previously sold items on ebay to price my items.
so, do you ever use the calculated shipping by location?
Ted Hatfield I use that but I think Pete has it worked out that he will mostly make money on shipping costs
thx
Global shipping doesn't destroy such items--they sell them themselves, I used to have GPS ebay's user name but lost it in a computer crash, but I would check current listings, I wouldn't be surprised if you find your globe listed with US shipping only.

On your rod shipments do you ship just the pvc tube or do you put a long cardboard box around the pvc pipe ?
New drinking game! Take a shot every time Pete says "Big","Bulky", "Heavy", or "Noone wants to".
23 Minutes later... Go home Deb, you're drunk!
Lol. Cheers !!
What's your opinion on swap meets?
What carrier do you use to ship big and heavy items ?
Pete, what do you use on the end of the PVC for the fishing rods? Do you just use caps and tape or glue them?
I just cut out a cap from cardboard and tape it to the PVC. Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
I'm confused they refund the buyer destroy the item and you lose the item and money?
No, Pete got paid for the item, eBay refunded the buyer, and theoretically, eBay's Global Shipping department destroyed the item. A similar thing happend to me, the Global Shipping department damaged my item, refunded the buyer, and I kept my money.
Steve Amaro I was hoping that was the case.
Don't you use calculated shipping?
Do you ever use FedEx SmartPost or strictly FedEx Ground for bulky items?
I use FedEx home delivery and FedEx ground. Thanks for watching. Cheers !!
that makes no sense they can't ship it because it is to big so they just give you the money back keep it and just destroy it.
***** me either
I don't understand why EBay destroyed that Globe being sent to Amsterdam???
I'm glad you had a very good month but how much did eBay keep in final value fees? Those fees can really screw up a very good month.
Allen Farlow they take 10% of mine, I did 400 in December and they took 40... I don't know if they are more for bigger accounts
I have a question. Can you make your own box by putting two boxes together as long as its sturdy? And the heavier items would go through fed ex right? Thanks for sharing Pete :)
For some reason I didn't catch where you said about Chad's video on fed ex. So disregard the fed ex question. Thanks I will watch it.
Yes you can do that
depends on the place you go to drop off, some will bitch and moan. more or less the "pack and ship" type centers. they want you to buy the "right" box because it makes them money.
im offering FlatEarth Shipping. fuck that global shit
I have shipped way bulkier heavier items then this globally with no problem at all so the story they gave you is strange.
at 4 minutes, expidited shipping?
Why all the expidited shipping on the bigger heavier things? Surely you're just using fedex ground (standard shipping) right? Have any customers complained yet?
I agree. These are ground prices. Expedited via FedEx would be $150 or more
+jay sun Yeah I wish he'd reply here. Does he know something I don't? lol
Global shipping to Kentucky? Do you mean Canada lol
eBay has its warehouse in Kentucky where they ship the sold items internationally. This way, the seller is encouraged to sell worldwide and not have to worry about paying an expensive shipping fee or deal with customs red tape.
Are you from Minnesota or just sporting the colors?
Love ur videos very informative I'm trying to get into selling these type of items. The fishing rod info was awesome. Much appreciated good sir.
Great video, thanks Pete!
