Devilled eggs are from ancient Egypt originally and had cayenne and currants in. We in the uk have a curried version with mayo, and mango chutney and curry powder and one with cayenne, mustard and paprika. The British ones dating 300 years before America.
Very well done Dara, I reckon all future UK Afternoon Teas won't live up to your amazing standards. What a busy year you had. I really look forward to you doing more good in 2025.
I love this so much!! I’m definitely going to watch how you made the clotted cream and scones but the whole afternoon tea party is just so fun! I will say this again… Tracy is such a natural narrator!
Oh, what fun, Dara, Tracy & Debbie! To my sensibilities, both the offerings AND the presentation were fantastickal!! May I request, Dara, to see and experience your teapot and tea presentation? I'm attempting to master the quintessential British afternoon tea for home. Thank you!!
@@elizabetherwin1315 oh no, I'm a bad example... I have a nice electric kettle but I rarely use my teapot. Only when I occasionally use loose leaf tea. I'm lazy!!!
Nice video once again, your afternoon tea looked AMAZING, and to see the lovely Tracy once more was great. Tell her (she may see this comment anyway) to do a road trip with yourself and Ian next time she's over to Cheddar Gorge in Devon for the cheese, awesome place when the sun shines, then down to St Michaels Mount in Cornwall in the SW, taking in St Ives too. Happy New Year 2025 D & I
Happy New Year, Ian! I am definitely wanting to do a road trip to Cheddar Gorge with some friends... and have a big cheese taste test this time! I missed out on that when I did my last vlog ;-)
What a labo(u)r of love, Dara. It is clear that your friends truly appreciated all that hard work and food preparation and “authenticity” of your Birthday Afternoon Tea. What fun, and soooo yummy! 🫖🇬🇧😋
I liked that it was an integration of British and American favourites! When you think about afternoon tea, it often is a merger of different cultures and cuisines. Especially French pastries!
Dara, that was fabulous - and what a great review. I have a feeling there will be more Afternoon Teas at your house from now on. I'm a cream on top but who cares- as long as there is cream, jam and a scone then any combination will do. Awesome tea party with besties. 🇳🇱🙋♀🥝🧁
Yay! Perfect bite sized bonus to start our day right. What an awesome group of besties! Looks like your tea party was a smashing success, and obviously the first of many 👏 Now we're kind of intrigued about the concept of clotted cream on brownies. Yet another treat to add to the (massive) bucket list! Happy New Year y'all 🎉
Happy New Year! You can't go wrong with clotted cream. Ian even tried it in herbal tea... which he said was great, but look revolting! And yes, I have the bestest besties! They deserved a delicious afternoon tea. It was great fun. Thanks for watching! XX Dara
Happy Birthday Tracey and Debbie! Looks a great afternoon tea and I’m glad to see the cream and jam added correctly. (Ah you did it both ways) Love the quality and portion control.
Oh yes, I do love cheese scones... I had a lovely one that was a cheddar scone with cream cheese and chives on top. But it's been years since I've had one... it's high time I get another!
Happy New Year Dara and Ian! May your 2025 be full of English High Teas and gastropubs. Interesting Tracy and Debbie are December babies. Me too (Georgia as well). Happy Birthday to all those young enough to still celebrate. 😁
Yes, I thought it was amazing that my two besties have birthdays a few days apart... AND they both visited me in England this year... so a tea party was a necessity!!
Is it Friday already? 😲 My complements on the table arrangement. I'll bet that took some thought and rearranging before you were satisfied it was right. I know I'm never satisfied with mine. I'd like to try some of that Key Lime Pie. It reminds me of some Lime Sundaes I used to get. Can't find them anywhere now. The birthday girls looked really happy with the spread. (Is spread used over there to describe a tableful of food?) Belated Happy Birthday girls. 🥳🥳 I can't fit a whole scone in my mouth so I put jam on one half and clotted cream on the other. Congratulations on such a great afternoon tea. It looks so much better and more authentically British than the ones Sonya has been served (and paid a fortune for) in Texas. I'll bet your bread wasn't stale. 😁 Would you believe I've never held an afternoon tea? I've done welcome home teas, but they're usually much later in the evening. You get lots of crisps and Ritz cracker in my teas. 😂😂
After watching her video I decided to do my OWN afternoon tea. Yes, it turned out MUCH better! And was cheaper as well! I have met many English folk who've never had afternoon tea. I think it's an invention for tourists! Can you buy sweetened condensed milk? If so, I'll send you my key lime pie recipe!
@@MagentaOtterTravels I had afternoon tea at a proper tea shop many years ago. It's closed now. Well I can't find it anyway. I'd say afternoon tea was something middle class people in towns like, say Cheltenham, would have. 😁Now I expect they've been replaced with coffee mornings. Yes, I can get sweetened condensed milk. I put it on my sweet roti if I remember to do it that is. I have a can in the cupboard. In Thailand it runs out of the can like ordinary milk. Over here I have to use a squeezy bottle because it won't run in our climate.
Those scones are excellent and wow so impressed at your efforts on making clotted cream. I remember being quite surprized how popular deviled eggs where when I lived in NC. They arent that popular in the UK as you probably know, but actually i do like them.
Even though I adore afternoon tea, sometimes I feel a bit ill after enjoying one! My friends and I are all trying to eat more protein, and the deviled eggs were a way to get some protein and offset all the sugar that you eat in the rest of the meal! Yes, I'm not surprised you ate a lot of deviled eggs in North Carolina. They are very popular across the south! No picnic or potluck can happen without deviled eggs! 😊
