I built an 80-20 canopy. 80% of it opens up with a hinge at the front when I lift it up and the other 20% at the back is the support for it all. I don't need to remove my whole canopy when I'm doing changes or gravel cleanings.
You adjust your measurements to the size of YOUR tank. Measure the top black rim, and add 1/8” for easy removal on/off the tank! It’s ridiculous every video someone asking the same question. Google, or bing basic plans for a fishtank canopy, and add your tank dimensions.

Very nicely made, brother. I will try and do it the same as you, but instead of sitting on the tank, I will screw it to the wall as a floating canopy

Should’ve done the lid opposite. So you can have more room to move or remove inside decor. Great concept but I’ll do it backwards on the lid.

Kind of wanting to build a canopy for a 75 gallon tank I am getting on Friday. I'd have to borrow a lot of my Dad's tools to do it though.
