I've assembled three of these (2 Trail and 1 XC) bikes now, and on every one, the longer brake hose was wrapped 360-degrees around the fork crown, requiring pulling the fork or pulling one grip and brake lever to correct. (Editing here, being left-handed and working amidst hungry mosquitos or in hot sun, In each case I simply had turned the fork in the wrong direction upon taking the bike from the box, doh!) I didn't see this to be the case in this video, their handlebar cardboard appeared to have already been removed from the bar assembly, and I had supposed that the grip and lever had been pulled to unwind the hose from the fork crown/headtube. I couldn't just twist the bar and cabling into alignment without twisting the cables/hoses into a rope. Likely the cable needed to be wrapped around the head tube to prevent shipping stress on the hose(?), but again, I'm left-handed! Secondly, both of the Trail bikes featured a somewhat backed-out hi-limit screw, giving near-instant chain jam against the swingarm after shifting to the 11t cog. A full turn tighter on the limit screw was needed. No, this wasn't because the hanger stop lug was preventing full tightening of the derailer mounting bolt, and no, the hanger wasn't bent either. I re-tightened the hollow bolt holding the hanger onto the swingarm, it too had lost tension just like the cassette lockrings, and needs 100 in-lbs using a 19mm or 3/4" socket. The cassette lockring on each bike didn't maintain much tightening tension (the plastic cog spacers of course settled a bit after their initial torquing). The cassette had to come off anyway though (to lightly grease the splines and to remove the clear plastic spoke disc). Two of the bikes needed minor caliper realignment laterally, to prevent rub on the disc's high spot. No, I didn't cause the high spot on the rotors, which was within normal tolerances. Disc mounting bolts took well to some moderate torquing, each bolt creaking a bit in the tightening direction after my break-in runs down a short hill. The included single bottle cage that came with the 951 Trail model did not clear the forward end of the suspension link mounting, so I had to go through a half-dozen cages here to find a metal one that fit. Forcing the included cage on would have quickly eroded the frame paint at the pivot mount while riding. The included cages fit on the 951XC just fine, but be aware that the bolts shouldn't be too heavily tightened and that the cage plastic will settle and compress, causing occasional loosening especially early on. This is a high-maintenance area on most bikes with plastic or carbon cages and even metal ones tend to loosen initially. These bikes with their longer wheelbase, bigger wheels and much wider handlebars aren't going to fit into the trunk of a sedan like older mtb's having smaller wheels and traditional geometry. These also seem to take up much more room in the garage than my older bikes, more like a motorcycle! I was able to drive home from Costco with the box shoved into the trunk of my 2005 Camry, heavy end in first and with the trunk lid held down by the wind on the highway. A cord should be used for retention and to satisfy the highway patrol, but I didn't bring any rope, my bad. These quibbles aside, these are great mid-range, serious carbon mtb's for the money, and the suspension settings weren't far off for my 145lbs. Spoke tensions were also quite acceptable, especially at my weight and age (late 50's).
My Intense 951 XC arrives tomorrow (purchased through Costco). Stoked to get it and replace my 17 year old Giant. Question: are the pedals included with this bike? Thank you.
Hi, one question, im trying to get one from Costco and I need to know what is the size of the box you pack the bike for shipping or as you get it in costco (LxWxH)..? I’m flying internationally, and I need to see this packaging might work for the airline by Not exciding linear 250cm
Solved that problem by loosening the 2 bolts that clamp the stem to the fork. Next problem has been removing the small cap over the rear wheel hub. It doesn't want to come off. Does it screw off or pop off? I can't get it off either way. First I tried with a plastic spudger then with a flat screwdriver. No luck so far. I don't want to scratch up the hub. This has not been as simple as shown in the video.
A pair of slip joint pliers made quick work of the hub cap. Watching the video, he pulls the cap off by hand with a quick movement. No way that was working on mine.
@@IntenseCycles1993 it does not fit. There is nothing in the hole, but I wonder if the bolts are painted black and have too much paint in the hole? Not sure what it is, but it doesn't fit.
Both bikes are the same. If you purchase from a bike shop your tool kit/accessory box will ship once you register your bike. This helps us ensure that you get your tool kit.
@@AnthonyOrtega-ki4mx you can do the same with both. No big difference. Like you only use one for a specific purpose. Like I said all your paying for is a carbon frame.
@@ric5683 no big difference that’s a 5 cm difference in travel. You saying that the amount of travel in a bike determines the cost of the bike is crazy. There are 2000 dollar 170 mm travel bikes and there are 15000 dollar 120 mm travel bikes. Also the 951 is a significantly better deal. The carbon frame probably adds a grand more in value compared to an aluminum
You are kind of comparing apples and oranges. The Reign 2 is an aluminum Enduro bike. The 951 XC is a carbon fiber XC style bike with lighter weight components. A little bit better comparison would be the 951 Trail bike with 150mm of travel. Looking at the price of the Reign 2 ($3,550 USD) for an alloy bike, the 951 Trail with a carbon frame and well spec'd components is a solid value.

Yes the Large and XL frame sizes both have the two water bottle mounts inside of the front triangle.

Okay, got to the step where it says to turn the stem around to face forward and the stem does not budge.

Why doesn't the 4mm bit fit in the stem face plate bolt?
It should fit into the face stem bolt unless the bolt is stripped or has something in the bolt hole?
