      Thank you so much, Kathleen! I am trying to go for combos I don't use as often, and I'm so happy with how this one turned out.

    I kept thinking as you unwound it that it would be fun to dye it first or use a pastel yellow as the base. It would be a way to keep some of the yellow since it always gets taken over by other colors. I wonder how a glue tip might change things?🤔

    I think the dye spread more with fawn & saffron because the outer edges of the ball are wound looser then the center of the ball

    Your yarn looks great! While I was watching, I was balling a skein of hand-dyed yarn and since I don't a yarn swift or a cake maker, I was walking around a pouf (great to get a few more steps in your day) and staring at the TV... at some point, it just popped off and got tangled. Oups. It wasn't so badly tangled, since I finished untangling before the end of the video.

      Oh phew! As soon as I read the tangle... I'm so glad you were able to resolve it!

    That's lovely!
    I would love to see a video about dying yarn with catnip, especially using cotton yarn - I don't how practical that is but I noticed one of the white cotton toys I crocheted my cat, upon getting wet, turned brown due to the catnip inside releasing color. It washed out pretty easily and I'm going to see if it turns brown again while drying this time, but I'd love to see if a proper dye process would make it stick. I can't find anyone who's done this! Maybe catnip just isn't a good dye, but considering how stained the toy got from a light washing, I'm very curious. It would be an interesting first!
    Of course the yarn might smell like catnip afterwards... but if it's going to be used for cat toys anyway, that's a plus!

      I've never interacted with catnip before, but this is worth looking into for sure!

    Would soaking the yarn first make a difference? Early snow on Autumn leaves....?

    Have you ever used an Irrigation syringe❓

  • @gittekaan3689
    @gittekaan3689 4 роки тому +1

    Why don't you use a needle on your surringe? That way you can go onto the cake and that's gives new possibilities. I do that.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  4 роки тому +2

      I might have a couple blunt needle tips somewhere, but mostly I just have the plastic syringes. I was able to get the dye down towards the center pretty far, but a needle would make it easier.

    I'd like to see this technique with straight solution, rather than diluted.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  4 роки тому +1

      I'm 100% going to play with this a lot more! I did straight 1% stock solutions the first time (but the pot I used blocked more of the camera angles so I decided to try it again where I could better show off what I was doing.
