I came here for a class assignment and I have to say this is one of the best lectures i have ever had to listen to. What an amazing man and the way he sees things in his life and how he got there was inspirational. I really did get something out of watching this and I hope his family realize how many lives he touched, how brave he was and how inspirational he was and will continue to be. May he be in heaven watching smiling as watches people learning from him as his life continues to be viewed, shared and valued.
+Brenda Garcia its about never letting anything prevent you from your dream in life. Randy explains that no matter what he set out to do nothing stopped him, but that something always tried to stop him. with that being in your mind re-watch the video again and see if you can identify the elements of his lecture now. good luck!
I taught this for years, developing this project for checked-out high school seniors. I've been back with freshmen for the better part of the last decade and Professor Pausch's words still ring true.
I watched this video 10 years ago and it was moving, inspirational and so, so relevant and now after reading the comments posted I feel sad......because the students cannot connect. This is life. They will grasp it later on but the fact that today's students completely miss the point of the lecture/perspective is so, so sad ---- and this is at Carnegie Mellon. Randy Pausch is turning over in his grave and we -- who loved this lecture -- are cringing with the insensitivity and total lack of empathy of this group of students/really smart people who were asked to watch this and cannot relate. Randy you were the future, you were the light, you were the inspiration to 'have a go' and the kids who think it is a 'cool lecture' have missed it COMPLETELY and the kids who are really, really bright, in no stretch of the imagination get what Carnegie Mellon is about and will never aspire to what you were alluding too. Wake up!!!!! GOD BLESS your family. A man for the ages.
@@J4ckpot23 It may be late, but can you help me with the summary of this lecture. I am studying the CompSci 2 at UNT too, and this is our assignment for this semester. Thank you for your help if possible.
Jesus loves you and He died for your sins and because of His love grace and mercy He is willing to forgive you. Also it's either paying for your own sin (hell) or accepting Jesus' payment for you, Which do you choose?
"if you have any herbal supplements or remedies, please stay away from me." such a dumb statement. alternative medicine is the best kind. I know his condition was so serious that it may have been too late for many natural remedies, but its ignorant to be totally closed off to them.
I'm sorry, but natural(herbal) remedies aren't going to stop terminal stage pancreatic cancer. You're the one being ignorant here. There's not a conspiracy, research has been done, you're just pulling stupid hippy shit out of your ass.
I literally said that he was probably too far along for anything to help. natural or otherwise. Nothing that I said isn't completely true. Use natural remedies any time you can. Use the harsher stuff when all else fails. sometimes go straight for the strongest measure, depending on the situation. This is all just common sense. Nothing to argue about. Most of the time, improving your diet is a great first step. That's just one example of natural remedies. There is solid evidence that nutrition and natural alternatives can work as well or better than harsh, man made remedies. Sometimes you need some brutal procedure like chemo that can do slightly more good than harm... and that's fine because that is sometimes your best or only option. Its just foolish to limit yourself to ways that you can take care of your body because you don't want to seem like a "stupid hippy".... A lot of the natural remedies have been used throughout the world for thousands of years and have been proven to work. The only thing that is stupid regarding natural alternatives is to completely dismiss them all together.
According to the China Study (one of the most comprehensive diet studies ever donelook it up on google/youtube) cancer is caused from eating too much animal foods, not enough whole plant foods. Try to eat only 5-10% of your diet from animal foods. Another book that says the same thing is the book "Blue Zones" that talks about places where people live to be 100 with low rates of cancer.
Who else is here for a school assignment?
