Ah the memories. Our goats would keep themselves untangled as long as they were hungry, going back around trees the way they came. When they were bored, they would create the craziest tangles.

It's good to see you back on the place working outside again. I was ready for a little break from tiny house videos.

Great video. You maybe able to get some extra 5 gallon bucket lids from your local bakery, Chinese restaurant, or donut shop. Along with free food grade buckets.

What kind of collar do you use on your goats and how do you hook the tether up to your goat collar? You did a wonderful video you should include the goat collar and the hookup

I made the tie-outs from 5 gallon bucket lids which you showed earlier, which work really well. My soil is soft so no need to make dozens of permanent ones. They are easy to pull up with a tyre lever every time. I run the loop of the rope up from underneath, through the hole at the outer edge, then up and over the stake in the centre. Very secure. No digger rods here for free, though. An engineering shop charged me $25 to bend 2 lengths of rebar!

I wonder if using a mallet (like the ones used in forestry and arboriculture to drive wedges) would be easier than the back of an axe, like we used to do

Off-topic, but wife and I have weather-envy. 95 and HUMID down here in NW Florida...heat index around 105. I miss 65 degrees in August.

Maybe Lemondrop had no thoughts on this, but my thoughts are that this is fabulous! Doing it in my fields as soon as the snow melts. Thanks, I will be subscribing!

Those Digger links look very familiar. I saw them go by many many times when I worked on this Spud Farm about 20 years ago.

why do you separate the birds from the goats? why not keep em together?

Cut a slit into a tennis ball and slip it over the loop at the top of your stake... it might help keep the rope from catching. I love this idea and am now wondering where I can get stakes like that for cheap so I can tie out my goats during the day. What do you do for water while they are out and how long are they out?

Great idea! We take them low rubberized water containers that hold two gallons of water at a time.

My place had a perimeter fence of 4' high woven wire plus a hot top strand. Sounds like money, right? Yet three times we had neighborhood dogs get in and rip up our stock, including sixteen sheep dead in one day. Livestock guard dogs stopped it. Our goats' horns were no help because dog packs attack both ends. What is your herd's defense?

    • @TheRealMonnie
      @TheRealMonnie 2 роки тому

That's terrible! Maybe some paintball guns would stop them, too 😇

    • @dirtpatcheaven

Digger link is from a potato harvester. Like a rebar with one end bent at the top.

  • @jackstrada5263

Don’t do this. You need to use a harness. Just a collar around their neck is dangerous. If you’re not paying attention they can get wrapped up in it really fast and choke them self to death

This is not MOB grazing. You are defeating the purpose of the benefits.
