I'm a simple man. I see Halestorm, and I instantly click. Awesome band!
"KIBBLES AND BITS, MAN!"
This might be my favorite 20 seconds on UA-cam. The progression through your facial expressions and then your reaction to her epic scream was 100% wholesome. Loved it!
You should also listen to “Shatter Me” - Lindsay Sterling ft. Lzzy Hale. :-)
Shatter Me is really good, but Lzzy’s vocal in that song was nothing compared to her hard rock and heavy metal music.
Yes. The live one though!
Wt he k. The violinist with bad ass lzzy
She's got one of the most powerful rock voices I have ever heard. They do a really good version of New York State of Mind in that live session too.
She roars her way through live shows with these long distorted notes, and they used to do like 150 shows a year. She has also been doing this since a rather early age. Obviously she has to be very particular about the technique. My favourite blatant example of her vocal style is when she went to a country music award show, in front of exclusively country fans, and performed a song with Eric Church. He has this speech-like nasal vocal quality, the song is pretty clean country-rock. And she steamrolls it.
Eric Church Thats Damn Rock n Roll ft Lzzy Hale - ua-cam.com/video/cnr4XL0icB8/v-deo.html
Heck yeah she killed it. Steamrolled indeed!
She has been performing since she was 14. I ve seen them several times before they were signed doing the central PA club circuit. Theyve always been good but holy hell have they come a long way
Completely live recording.
Drums have audio baffle screens around them to help separate them from the rest of the mics. He's also using rods instead of sticks, which dampen the drum sound a lot.
Hope you don't mind the input. Always enjoy the reactions 🙂
This is a fairly old video, Lzzy sounds SO much better now and has really stepped up as a front woman too.
Yeah you can really tell she's worked on her technique. She's a lot more consistent. I admire how much she respects and takes care of her voice.
You must hear their live concerts! Lzzy's vocals are killer, try "Freak Like Me" or "Uncomfortable"
Yeeeeesssss! So good.
Lzzy Hale also does duets with Amy Lee of Evanescence that are epic.. you should definitely check those out!!
I forgot.. for another Hallstrom, I'd suggest Dear Daughter for their softer side.. I have 3 young boys, but I feel that song deep in my soul every time I hear it
I went out bar hopping with Lzzy and Joe (lead guitar) after working one of their shows. They are super nice and friendly. If you get the chance to meet them, I recommend it, they are a lot of fun. Killer live shows too. One of my favorite live bands, seen them 3 times now.
Yep, Lzzy is amazing.
You should hear HIM I feel like you vocal coaches would enjoy his range and grit.
Ville Valo
@@joebraund5515 that's the one.
"That kicked me in the groin" 😂 I'm sure she'd love to hear you say that, it was probably the reaction she was going for lol
Please please please please.......react to Halestorms live performance of “Familiar Taste of Poison” from the Jimmy Fallon show! I watch a lot of vocal coaches and I’ve never seen anyone do a reaction to it. It is by far one of her best life performances ever, and you get to hear her beautiful, clean soprano come through.
Her intensity on that performance is incredible
Love this song! I did a cover of it but it’s nowhere as good and it was many years ago in my vocal journey. But it’s my go to song
I was just about to write the same thing. Poor Selena Gomez sitting there watching Lzzy own the whole room.
Yeah... young and actually "Live"... That was the Fallon version of Conan's night with Disturbed doing Sound of Silence. The difference was (at that time) the world hadn't heard of Lzzy yet.
Yes please!!!!
Their cover of dissident aggressor is amazing. Especially live.
The overtones in her screams are amazing. That's not something I would normally notice. Either hers are very prominent, or maybe my ear is just learning to recognize this. Either way, great performance.
She's so beautiful with an amazing voice.
Halestorm have many hits. All off them writen by llzy. Love bites won a grammy.
Without a doubt the best live band I have ever seen.
I never thought I'd hear someone react to Izzy by saying "kibbles n bits" LMAO...love it
Hell yeah°°
Halestorm is great! Lzzy is a banshee^^
Halestorm is amazing live. This wasn't even one of their better songs. Great reaction. 🎶
Her live cover of girl crush is super live sounding and is 🔥
There's a video of her signing All I Wanna Do (Heart Cover) live for a radio station that really shows off her vocals.
Lzzy have such a powerful voice, I love that final high-pitched screams. Had a similar concern about the drums the first time I watched it. She performed in a cover of Duran Duran's Come Undone by Adrenaline Mob and it's such a nice band that don't get that much love. I would love to see you react to All on the Line by them (watch?v=xJazZr6D9wk). Russell Allen have such a beautiful timbre.
LZZY is a rock Goddess....she sounds the same live as she does on album and in these live videos....seen Halestorm a few times and will see them everytime they come to my area....If you ever get the chance to meet the band, do it you will NOT regret meeting them.....they are all so humbled by meeting their fans....LZZY hugs everyone....LZZY does and AMAZING cover of Dolly Parton "I will always love you"
Greatest Singer!
Something so satisfying about lizys voice. Makes me tingle
you should check out Lzzy singing girl crush. its absolutely stunning
Trivium among the Shadows and the stones...
Mr. Heafy have learnd to take care of his voice, i guess it was around 2017, he feel during a live concert, that his voice hurts and the power moves away, then he choos to take a vocal coach (dont remember his name) and he came back better then before.. And that makes me happy because he have such a unique voice from clean to Scream.. Check him out.. Great person and great frontman
Watched them live a couple of years ago and they didn't disappoint. Amazing talent
Lzzy Hale and David Draiman of Disturbed sing a cover of "Close Your Eyes" by Ozzy and Lita Ford that is very good
If you truly want a mind blowing performance watch their live acoustic version of black vulture cause god damn can Lzzy Hale sing
One of my favorite vocal performances from her is "remember December" it's just her and a piano.
🔥🔥🔥
The drummer actually isn't as overpowering as you would expect. He's using sticks called "hot rods". It's like a bundle of little sticks, the easiest relative to them is like using brushes on a drum kit.
Love her scream in this song
I subscribed . Great job with your reaction and analysis of Love Bites (and So Do l) from Halestorm Lzzy Hale have a Amazing voice reminds me of Pat Benatar and her Brother is the Drummer in the Band.
I Miss the Misery, Apocolyptic, I am the Fire, Freak Like Me, lots of awesome Halestorm songs. Shatter me w/ Lindsay Sterling is also really cool
So that's her brother Arejay on the drums. I believe this performance are what they call scratch tracks for what would later become the studio version. This is done by lots of bands to give the audio engineer and the artist guide tracks to work from. There is no way this is her lead track on the final studio version. But there are a lot of parts that they probably did keep possibly the bass guitar and maybe even the electric guitar. Usually when the full band is playing they're going for the drum track. But usually the drums are in an isolated booth. So I don't know. All I know is this kick butt.
Arjay is her brother and a BEAST of a drummer
I'm sure someone mentioned it but they won a Grammy for this song. Lzzy is truly an ambassador for women in rock. The drummer is her brother Arejay. They formed the band in 1997, when they basically kids. Joe Hottinger is on lead guitar, and Josh Smith on bass. One of the best hard rock bands out there. Great reaction and analysis!
Halestorm also has songs that are very sweet and beautiful w/Lizzy's voice a very different feel. I've seen them in concert a few times opening for my fave band, Shinedown (also everything from hard rock to more mellow). (BTW, that's her brother on drums).
Oh yeah, that's a really good one
I have seen Halestorm about 8 times and her voice is even better in person. Oh she is soooooooo nice and her brother is the drummer
So happy to hear your thoughts and reactions to it! Thanks for giving it a look. :) Believe it or not, there's a second take right after this, that's her doing it acoustic! That was actually the version I was hoping you'd react to, though this is awesome as well because you can compare the two takes and see what changes. I think it's neat that in the acoustic version, she doesn't have a guitar in-hand, but is still playing it anyway from muscle memory. Lzzy Hale (yes, that's how she spells it!) is just amazing, a real force of nature befitting the name Halestorm.
Acoustic take: ua-cam.com/video/l_lNTlP_3Bo/v-deo.html
She is so great at vocals, one of the Best female modern singers
I was just thinking about when your next video would be and sure enough you posted one 🥰
Ty 😂
Lizzy Hale, Taylor Momsen and Maria Brink cover we will rock you together. Rock goddesses.
Lzzy is really versatile. If you want to try a video that's less frenetic and gives you more chance to examine her technique try this acoustic live in studio version of The Silence. ua-cam.com/video/1U7K62gKsH8/v-deo.html
Please more Halestorm!!!
Lizzie Hale is a beast!
I’ve seen them live three times and they are amazing. The drummer is her brother Arjay and he’s fantastic.
Her scream in freak like me is epic
4:51 that’s exactly the look my mother had on her face when she heard me listening to that song. XD
her voice has a distortion pedal on command its insane
Her best vocal performance has to be "Familiar Taste of Poison" live on Jimmy Fallon
Those “lightning rod” drumsticks aren’t very loud.
Ken - you should react to the band named after this song - LOVEBITES!
"Lovebites - Shadowmaker | Awake Again Live From Abyss"
You will LOVE Asami's vocals. It's taken from a livestream recorded for their latest DVD "Awake Again: Live From Abyss". They're in a similar setup to Halestorm, but their drummer is isolated behind a clear screen.
New subscriber here! Love Lzzy and the band. I highly highly recommend their acoustic cover of "Girl Crush."
I subscribed! For Halestorm, I love "Dear Daughter" it is so emotional. But please go and look at Shinedown, Brett's vocals are so incredible!
i subscribed, awesome content dude !
First of all, it's always nice watching your content cause it's fudging wholesome.
Second, I would listen to Halestorm - Slave to the Grind Live in Lubbock for that intro she pulls off (the drum solo in the beginning is skipable imo). Maybe do that on your free time, aswell as their cover of Straight through the Heart in Kiwanee. The audio quality is sadly kinda shit so might not be the best videos, but you can really hear the talent she has so it's still worth a listen for yourself
I myself am not a fan of Halestorm at all, but Lzzy has some serious talent and one can always appreciate that
The drum player is her brother! They're amazing and Lzzy is my favorite artist ever ❤
Linkin Park “QWERTY “ live 2006. Can’t find a UA-cam vocal coach that has reacted to it, Chester’s transitions in the chorus are insane.
Halestorm was the last concert I went too. Halestorm in Nashville? I'm there.
RJ (Lzzy's brother) is using bundled sticks which indicates an awareness of live acoustic percussion situation .
The facial expression says it all!
Shatter me is awesome with Lindsey Sterling....Woof! Great reaction! Sue
Lzzy and Halestorm also very recently did a remake of one of their songs with Amy Lee from Evanescence.
Kibbles and bits. LMFAO 😂😆. Actually very appropriate. Fun vid..
Lzzy Hale - The Queen of Rock/Metal. she can sing with everything flawlessly. God, i love her. IMO she is the Standard vocalist currently and many dont even measure up to her. Also if you need recommendations for her, I got a list thats a mile long for the rabbit hole she induces.
Lizzy Hale is a POWERFUL singer. Familiar Taste of Poison and I Am the Fire are a couple of other great songs by them to watch.
You have to react to her collab with Maria Brink and Taylor Momsen covering We Will Rock You. Lzzy plays the guitar solos during the song and sings a killer performance, it is amazing. Hands down my favorite cover of this quintessential classic. If you're looking for another live performance where Lzzy knocks it out of the park, check out her cover of In the Still of the Night by Whitesnake. It is phenomonal.
Everyone will have about a thousand different Halestorm songs they'll recommend for you, and you can't go wrong with any of them. I'll contribute this one to the pile with this more blues-rock number: "I Like It Heavy." It's audio only, no video, but make sure you stay through the "coda" when Lzzy takes you to church.
ua-cam.com/video/Ugwl46p7vvk/v-deo.html
I love Halestorm! For a killer rendition of a fun song check out Small Town Titans' "You're A Mean One, Mr.Grinch
They also did an acoustic version of this song in the same session (it's on YT if interested).
The drummer is Arjay, Lizzy’s brother. He is a beast.
Yeah, this was a fairly restrained performance from him.
React to Familiar Taste Of Poison live on Jimmy Fallon pleaseeeee ❤️❤️❤️❤️
You should check out her and Eric church live from 2014 CMA awards
'Girl crush' cover from Hailstorm LIVE please...
Just needs to review live in philly It's Not You
Check out when Lizzy features w/ Amy Lee
I'm sure someone has pointed out to you that the drummer Arejay Hale is Lzzy Hale's younger brother. It's funny you say he's playing the drums hard because he's using thos bamboo sticks that soften how you play. You should react to I Miss the Misery Live. Any live preformance from youtube will work. You could do the official video but as great as she sounds on it her live preformances blow it away. If you have any questions about Halestorm let me know. Over the last 12 years I've become friends with them. One more thing, that growl to her vocals is natural and not something she adds to her preformances, Her vocal coach Steve Whiteman who was the lead singer of the 80's hairband Kix helped her learn how to preserve her voice and do those screams without damaging her vocal chords.
Aurora and wardruna helvegan
Brilliant song
Kibble n bits man! 😂
If u look at what the drummer is using instead of sticks he's using a bundle of little dowels bound together. I can't remember what they are Called but they don't hit as hard as sticks so that might be why they aren't isolating the drums.
This is exactly it. Rods are a lot more silent than actual sticks. You can really hit with them without being too loud.
After coming across your channel, I had to subscribe. You are such a fun person to watch with your reactions! I've been a Halestorm fan for many years and one of my favorites is Mz Hyde. So if you really enjoyed this one, please check that one out and I'd love to see your reaction to it!! keep up the great work and best of luck and cheers to many more reactions to come!!
You need to analyze “slave to the grind” by Halestorm....Please?
You mentioned collaborations and I thought of a good one with a female metal vocalist. Cristina Scabbia, the lead vocalist with Lacuna Coil did a collaboration with Megadeth on a remake of the original Megadeth song, A tout le monde. It came out in 2007, so look for A tout le monde, Megadeth with Cristina Scabbia and see what you think.
Lzzy credits Steve Whitman for working to fine tune her vocal talents.
Check out I like it heavy and Mayhem 👍
i subscribed.
Lzzy is the sh*t! I would react to I am the Fire and I Hate the Misery!
I would love for you to check out Overconfidence by Tallah, he has an incredible live take with all sorts of interesting vocal techniques!
I subscribed. Another Halestorm song you should react to is the live version of Familiar Taste of Poison.
"KIBBLES AND BITS" LMAO
You should check out Halestorm Freak Like Me acoustic.
With how much you’re enjoying the rasp in Lizzie’s voice, you should check out the song Magnolia Blvd by Butcher Babies, will show you a whole new world with women in metal and their ability to scream.
You should make a reaction for the band Nevermore and vocalist Warrel Dane. It's one of the most interesting voices in metal
You should check out Jinjer - Pisces. The contrasts in singing that Tatiana displays is mind boggling. You would never imagine the sounds she can produce are coming from her.
She's a beast:)
