Wow! Didn't really need the steam sound to be good. That was some awesome footage! Thanks for sharing that with us!

Great stuff Len! I sure wish I had vintage steam footage from the 60's and 70's. Thanks for sharing!

The only NKP is running now is #765 in Fort Wayne, IN. It currently travels around to pull excursions on shortlines and regional railroads (Hopefully NS will let it run excursions on it's tracks in the future) . It did run in NJ and PA in 1988 on the trips from Bound Brook, NJ to Temple, PA and Bound Brook to Philly, Reading, and back to Bound Brook through Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Phillipsburg.

What would be amazing is if this engine triple-headed with 765 and 763

Interestingly, I noted that #759 still had her old Bendix train radio still mounted on the tender deck. Wonder if it was still usable, and whatever happened to the one 765 once had also.

In a perfect world, all eastern class 1's would permit steam on their tracks for long fantrips and Steamtown would restore 759 and run excursions to Binghamton, Sunbury on a regular basis.

Why couldn't 2102 be turned on the turntable at Jim Thorpe when it ran excursions to there via Allentown from Temple in Sept 1985, fall 1987, and 1988? #759 was turned there as seen here, and so was #425 more recently.

@rwk360 It's looking good for the 587 to be returning within another two years or so, and the 763 might be on the road to a overhaul soon as well. Meanwhile, the 759 will just sit until Steamtown gets some money to repair it and/or finds a reason to use it.

Nothing has happened. It is still sitting at Steam town, collecting dust sadly.

Steamtown is still restoring her right or have they stopped for now because of the 15 year for the 2317.

the big deal on that trip was g coming back from Bingingham NY out of Scranon fir we did not know if yi we could do it with out assistance but it did I believe its1.6% as the 700s has no booster and n one inch undersisted cylinders

modeltrainman12345 , all steamtown did to 759 was to removed the Asbestos Abatement and put new sheet metal on it. then come spring they repaint it.
    Len.

I was almost all of these trips they did not have the ,68 trip to jim Thorp fore severial of us I was one had to stand on the turn table to balance it after that they took water before turning it to bad steam never ran it for the park service has no interest in it

It is too big and the D&H damaged it to decommission practically. We would love seeing it but smaller engines that over power 765 like 3713 and 2317 are important assets. If we had a 100 foot table like the one under the police station and if the other pieces were fixed there is a possibly.

shame shame on steam town the Band M engine never ran one mile and they want people to put money in it yiu thnk the Park service could out there money ere there mouth is oh the CP 2317 is a fine engine shame on them it never doube headed with the non Royal Hudson CP 2816 or they never did the only reginal engine the RDG 2124

We can only keep operating pieces running, all current restories like 3713 are NRHS. Also they don't fit on the 90 foot table. So more powerful passenger and tender switchers are preferred choice to run cause the big boy and 2124 don't fit in the shops and berks struggle on the pocono main.
