There is nothing standard about the way you conduct a master class with this jazz standard! In addition to your always amazing vocals, you clearly are enjoying the heck out of this one! Your brass players slay as well.
I grew up with a big band instrumental recording of this song that I loved to play on repeat. Thank you for this kickass cover!

I'd love to see this mixed with the "it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing" song. There are a lot of variations to the song, I did show choir back in the day and we did the song. It was one of few songs that we did that I didn't end up hating after practicing with it so much.
I don't know it from any commercial, but I do know it from The Andrew Sisters (don't ask me why, because that was way before my time). None the less, you nailed it again.

Big Band Swing is simply Louis Armstrong ---orchestrated.
Yet still, the greatest and most influential development in the history of Jazz was of course--Modern Jazz or 'Bebop' or simply 'Bop'.
Supremely gifted, innovative and daring African American musicians Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Kenny Clarke, Howard McGhee, Thelonius Monk, Bud Powell, Miles Davis, Ray Brown, Fats Navarro, Tadd Dameron, Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Stitt, Dexter Gordon et al burst on the Jazz scene armed with a refreshingly new and radical non-danceable style of Jazz that hadn't been seen or heard before or since.
These brilliant musicians couldn't have arrived at a better time and sent packing and back to the increasingly predictable and unexciting Big Band Swing drawing board and with it--numerous 2nd rate white musicians who stapled themselves to it.

I was already very familiar with Benny Goodman's instrumental version, but I'm pretty sure that this is the first time I'd heard the lyrics. I can't think of anyone I'd rather have introduce me to them. Well, maybe Ella's Fitzgerald, but playing second fiddle to her is nothing to be ashamed of.
