- Hello all, this time not so much racers had bad injury but Hählen(SUI) and i think Bella Wright(USA) have a bad injury. Hählen has a cruciate ligament tear like Corinne Suter and meny other racers.
I wish everyone a speedy recovery❤️

It's incredible to me that after the injuries the first day the course wasn't adjusted. The results were predictable!!
You'd think that the committee would figure it out.
In Downhill, they need a Training before the Race, so you can not adjust without training
seriously!! you aren't exagerrating. i mean LOOK AT THAT 1:10 that is a friekin death trap. That looks utterly impossible to ski
That course was heinous. Preparation? It looks like the general public was skiing it and then they set some gates.
They did adjust the jump at the delta passage, just fyi
This course is raced on for over 50 years on wooden skis and snow first. Now material is high tech and piste is solid ice, moreover they build in extra bumps and jumps. Are they waiting for racers to be killed? It takes too long for response to arrive, in every dangerous part should be someone stationed to help immediately. Shame on FIS Alpine.
The Problem its only the Women's has normal more time to switch the sides. In this Curse she need in Air flip the Side and thats not a normal thing in Women's race. In Men's races its this normal, but not in the Women's race.
I just damn agree with you!
The snow has to be that hard for safety otherwise deep ruts would develop making the course even more dangerous.
Fully agreed, like in other sports nowadays, it’s just about media coverage and money. There is no reason for a course which creates 130km/h top speeds. Completely nuts.
Many of them passed it without problem. As a skier, its your responsibility to maintaine the required speed. If you wanna go +130 km/h over a sharp turn, can't expect a differenet outcome.
Thank you for the opportunity to be able to watch ! It is greatly appreciated !
The problem with the turns that most fell on is that there is no room to bail out, if one doesn't take the correct line they are into the fencing. Obviously, they need to use the topography of the mountain but perhaps those turns could have been made less severe.
Fortunately, Isabella Wright appears to be okay as she was at the finish area later in the event. I don't know about any of the others, though.
The track is taking everyone out, including the drone.
The course setter brought this on. The groomer also dug several gullies immediately after off-camber jumps which took out racer after racer sending them into the fences and certain injury. Whoever set that course should have their credentials pulled.
yes, I was thinking the same. That particular turn is a death trap, I don't understand how FIS allows for something like that
I worked on a big mountain during a FIS event. I was shocked, they water down (ICE) the course just before the race. I skied a professional course once. It is nuts- super steep, off-camber and pure ice. It was not fun and I went as slow as possible. I could not imagine going all out. The risk of major injury is too high.
The race corse is too fast and dangerous especially on the high speed turn from almost strait ahead with a large high speed sweeping turn to the left which is almost impossible to make without having an accident.
It was a long and high jump immediately followed by a very tight turn. Very dangerous.
The racers should protest when the course design is this bad.
Unglaublich!
Do würd ich mich nid traue in somene Tempo abe z'fahre drum props an d'Fahrerinne
As difficult as this course is proving to be if you can make it to the finish you will win!
Wild!
awesome gutsy run until velocity, acceleration and temperature defeat technology
Unconscionably set/laid out course. A deliberate killing field. And yes, I fully know the slope has been around for ages, DUH! It's HOW you set the course. This was a crime. Set a course to be challenging AND pragmatically "safe", not some death trap.
Mamma mia!!!
well said
I am afraid the alpine ski competition is approaching the end of its celebration : lack of snow, fake snow, materials etc. So sad. Compared to the old races, when the akiers were going down between the watchers.
Such turns demand tremendous leg strength against the Gs they experienced….!!!
This slope would be difficult even for men. And what for the god's sake is doing that man at 4:02 right next to the course? If she lost balance she could have smashed herself of him. This is crazy.
I think the combination of very high speeds and many elevations in the course which caused the skiers to jump even if they didnt really intended to were the main problem. The course setting didnt intended this as well with flat landings or turns directly after those parts, leaving no space for error and making it more dangerous than it should be.
What a horrible course the designer should be held accountable.
This course design forced the women into more air and more unbalanced air than they could handle. Seemed like a men's course. Also, the turn came immediately after the landing zone.
Men's course? Dude this course was terrible all around. Even for the men.
@@jeffs4760 eh not nearly as bad
No Men's drives all times in course like that. But in Women's course are not normal air jumps and a corner. So that they need switch a side in the Air. But meny Girls havent a Problem with this course and forget not they are Pros. So meny from the Girls was surprise that you comes with a high speed to a air switch corner.
@@weedylove dude you need to get better at english 😅
Greek to me !
Horrible piste! The delta turn shouldn´t been made so sharp.Especially after jump with over 100km/h! Season ruiner for many athletes...
Unfassbar, was da abverlangt wird.
That was a brutal day on the mnt in Cortina... I want to ride the bobsled again, best ride of my lifetime on the sled on the Cortina old Olympic bobsled run
How many athletes have to get injured for this downhill ski until the race finally find out the winner?
Was there a men’s event at this location, and if so, did they have problems with this run?
after the first 5 crashes in that area how are there not medical staff on standby right at that turn at all times??
nice race, prop to who designed it, did someone made it to the bottom in one piece?
As an ex-downhiller, the course is not too dangerous. Most crashes were caused by pilot error, either failing to properly absorb jumps, or taking risks with a too-direct/tight line. With regards to the setting a DH course, you have to make compromises. You have to set the gates in a way that swings the racers back and forth across the fall line to control what would otherwise be F1-like speeds. But downhill races take place in the mountains where there are trees, rocks and natural obstacles a racer could hit if they didn't put A and B nets along the sides of the course to stop them, and sometimes it's impossible to put that protection far enough away from the race line.
The simple fact that the falls occurred all over the course says it’s not a specific course setting issue. It is a tough course with more jumps than the women usually deal with, but none of them were particularly large jumps. All these people pontificating have obviously never put a pair of 220 DH boards on.
yeah ok dude. this course will go down in history as being so dangerous that it changed the career of the greatest skier of all time. but what does she know about skiing???? the great "ex-downhiller," @nikht0, says that it was HER fault. It was "pilot error."
good point, except that looking at the spot where most of them fell, it was just after a ridge where the approach was like a launch pad instead of a neutral entry like the Mausfalle in Kitz, and then the little ridge in the middle of the turn after the jump that becomes a compressions made the turn like a shuffle board..Some of it might have been due to lack of practice, perhaps, but the course should have been adjusted... when you have 12 of the best skiers fall, that's a statistical anomaly that's hard to ignore...but as you said, it may just be pilot error, and possibly too much speed...
@@cormorant_on_arock7934 whoa easy there cowboy, you sound triggered. But yeah, the greats can make mistakes and crash too. Shiffrin F'ed up. She didn't absorb the roll enough, flew too far and was quite a bit off line as well. She should have taken the DSQ instead of desperately cranking a turn to try to make the gate.
@@keirfarnum6811 haha I know. They know nothing about DH, they're just like, "MiKaELa sHiFfRin iS thA gOaT, sHe Can'T maKe MistAkeS"
Even the drone wiped out.
They needed more cheese wheels lining the course.
Yes 😄
Terrible course! Too icy and too fast with too many elevation turns to adjust to. Downhill skiing is already crazy and they just made it crazier!
Okay this hill is just dangerous. One person crashes, fine. But when this many people are crashing, something is wrong with the hill. How irresponsible to put that many athletes in danger like that.
Assassin downhill 🤬
Even the drone couldn’t handle this course
This! 👌
that course looks treacherous as hell! even to the casual ski fan (me)
a difficult high-speed track with a poorly prepared surface in high-speed corners.
To put a hairpin turn on a downhill course when they’re going roughly 60 mph is nuts. It’s only done perhaps in formula 1 but on skis? Gimme a break.
Every crash involves the same turn..are they TRYING to hurt these athletes? Fix that curve!
I'm going to be honest. How come back country, big mountain free skiers seem to get assistance and medical aid faster than these athletes? There are tons of staff and crew around just standing around or slowly walking up to the woman at 9:10 for example? Where are the snowmobiles? A woman just hit a dead stop from like 100kph with the boot DIN set at probably a million
who tf planned this truck?
smn good in law should put an eye on this.
After numerous accidents, I am convinced that the piste shall be modified, they are all pro…
Almost as bad as the 80s.
I think get the cameras out of the racers faces , they are super invasive. And get rid of the drones - if I heard one of those following me I'd crash too.
Let the racers concentrate!
I hate the unnatural sound of those drones! BTW: When you're up close to a DH race, the sound of the air rushing around the skiers body is incredible! It gives a real sense of the speed! I have yet to see a DH race on television or video that captures that!!
We do not hear, see or even know the drones are there.
Maybe you don't. I carry a slingshot
@@Machria23 - Thanks… I wondered if you could hear them… …..Couldn’t the TV/ internet techies edit out their noise… It is quite irritating to me (a viewer)… Others…??….. Vote..
The drones provide the absolute best video experience so far for viewers !!!!…… They must have a driver AND a person running the camera simultaneously ??!!!……..skillfully !!
It appeared the course was too skinny w minimal room on the sides…. Fences too close to course…. Also the gates were too tight for a downhill at least for conditions that day….. It demanded too tight of turns at such high speed….. The men may have been able to handle it as a superG! ….??????
That's the third one this month injuring word champions, what the hell is going on with these hills and or skis? somebody is gotta look into this or we are going to continue injuring these young women.
4:01 what in the hell are two man doing on the race course?
I’m not knowledgeable on skiing but that one corner after the insane fast hill seems a bit to much
I don’t know who set the course but it was at least two turns on the jumps - recipe for crashes
4:02 near miss
5:29 breathing a HUGE sigh of relief that this cute little darling didn't suffer a horrific crash! O_O
Wishing that's all tha happened to Mikaela Shiffrin :( :'(
Yes!… relief
Yes, but she crashes today very Hard in Super G. Valerie Grenier.😢
I will now record all races from this Weekand and try to upload.

I saw that :( horrible@@weedylove
This is ice not snow!!
lara gut war gut
Same BAD course design as the last video with a lot of injuries: a very fast chute with a huge jump followed by a corner it's basically impossible to make. I think the skiers should refuse to ski that course until they change it. WAY too many injuries of very fine skiers!!! You cant ski GS turns after jumps at 60 MPH on after another in very fast conditions. Be a great course in late May!
The turn that had the most crashes looks in the videos as if there are a couple of small swales just at the apex and it seems that's where the problems started. Poor course setting if that is in fact what it appears to be.
Exactly. There are 3-4 mini rollers at the apex. Proper grooming could flatten them out. This is negligence.
I believe the problem already starts with that little jump before the turn, they come with very high speed and right before the turn they gain air under their skis even if they dont really intend to jump there. The landing is flat as well and right after the shit landing, where they dont have great balance they have to get that 90°turn or they land in the fence, there is no space for error. And if thats not already enough on top there are these swales in the turn.
...the Tigers tail...fear cascades when others before "U"..!...cant hang'on..u'll have the "urge" let go early..?..(slower..lower..?.)....
To steep for Downhill, they need more flat Runs in the Future, they are too fast nowadays
Where's the replays nowadays? They do not show any replays!
No they not show replays from the bad crashes
It's new and to me it's too sensitive@@weedylove
@ganassi988 thats the Live TV, they not want show replays when they not know how hard its the injury. I record all replays what they show on TV.
Yeah but when they see there's nothing serious going on they still cut those replays and not show any slow motions.. @@weedylove
Why are people on the race track during a racers run? 4.02.
Maybe too icey or bad course creating or both
all of the above, if you ask me. (not that i am an expert. I am a casual World Cup skiing fan)
And yet they never changed anything after the first day , poor design
It's a race, racers don't have to push so hard in areas their coaches are reporting crashes. This course didn't look dangerous at all, grow a set.
that slope looks like ass to ride..
Only for Women's are special, because the higher Jumps and need to switch side in air for the next corner. Normal Mens course has this inside, but in Women's Worldcup they not have much course like that
So, every athlete crashed at the same place, a jump followed by an unreasonably sharp turn...it's a terribly designed track, not "challenging".
I don't see the issue, most of the skiers are able to complete the course so while it sucks to have some/more than usual get injured or fall, it seems more like a skill gap than a badly designed race?
In the world of male dominated motocross, this would be considered a "mans track"... Some tracks deserve more ability than others. In terms of being a sexist, which I am, perhaps the women need to stick with easier courses... for their own safety... There is a reason why the tennis world discriminates against women by only letting them play best of 3 rather than best of 5... And now it's time for the lefty mob to deconstruct my sexist comment.
This should be closed immediately
how many DNF??
Watch on Community share. But 11 and 10
But one race 10 and one 11 DSQ in the races.
Also 12 in first Downhill, 10 in the second Downhill and 13 are in Super G DNF. Total 35
Not good track dangerous
wtf is this slope so bad !!!
Un scandale
Isn't that sport, or is it just watching gladiators die⁉️
crushes and injuies goes from BAD skill, big selfimportance and small preporation
you can see - not good work of legs, not good coordination, not good reaction, not good knowledge of track

Mal ehrlich.
