  • First time for me to drive with slicks, wings and a formula chassis. So i think not too shabby!
1:13.64 is as far as i know a new bench mark.
A whole 0.98s faster than Jolyon Palmer’s ‘Pro lap’ (1:14.62)
I thought prior track limits were the magnetic sensors but apparently it was the yellow lines.
This is why it isnt on the ‘leaderboard’ however i think the cuts were negligible.
And there are many mistakes in line…
    ..But carried good minimum speeds
I think it warrants another go to chase for a sub 13;)
    Should it be counted?!?!?
What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

    Dear Leo!
    Great video!!
These cars have paddles for the up and downshifts, but is there also a traditional clutch pedal, like in regular manual transmission cars to be pressed before the up/downshifts?
    Best regards!
    Fede

Hi Fede! Yes there is a clutch pedal… but no you dont need it between gears!
      I wont bore you but search;
      Synchros vs dog boxes
      Sequential manual vs pneumatic
In short, we dont need the clutch between gears because when the paddle is pulled, the ecu cuts fuel and spark briefly, allowing the dog gears to engage without using the clutch to smooth the speed differential.
      I hope this helps!

The track limits for the F3000 leaderboard are the tarmac/white lines that mark the edges of the track - you were off the track at T1, and T12, this is why your lap is invalid for the leaderboard.
If cutting the corners in this way was legal, the lap record would be lower than 1m 10s.
Incidentally, Car 2 appears to be a bit of a rocket in a straight line, That's why when you are accelerating through the gears your speed trace is beating the Jolyon data. It's the same car Alex Brundle did a 1:12.96 in earlier this year.

Actually for palmer sport its if you contact the yellow lines = invalid, i thought it was the small black magnetic sensors i had to avoid hence why the lap isn’t on the ‘leaderboard’.
Good to know a 12.9 is possible, my lap was very messy so was amazed i couldn’t find one faster.

The rules on what's acceptable and what's not are different for the leaderboard than for the "on the day trophy". I've done about 30 palmersport days, and know the photographer who runs the timing board, and have talked to him about this many times over the years.
If you want to verify what I'm saying you can ping me offline and I'll put you in touch with him.
