Its nice to see that you are advertising Wales as a place to go so often on your channel. It's one of the forgotten countries in the UK for tourism. Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia and Anglesea are lush places. But you are wrong about the sheet of rain crossing the bristol channel there always seems to be a massive sheet of rain Haha.
Wales is beautiful but is currently on stricter lockdown than the rest of UK. Great tips about being out in a cottage and connecting with nature, perfect place for that!
Spent a week in Wales about two years ago. Did a three day horse ride through the Brecon Beacons area with Freerein near the Hay-on-Wye area. So true about the stores closing by six. Also, the weather is tough to figure out. We were there in early May and came prepared for three days of rain. Instead, we had one day of drizzle and two days of gorgeous sunny 75 degree weather were we got sunburned because of not being prepared for sun. Also, try the laverbread, it really is good. Great country and great people. Everything Mark mentions in this video is what we experienced!
Love having Wales covered as its mostly overlooked. The weather here is amazing at the moment. You're never too far away from a hill, a castle or a pub. What more could anyone ask for? Lol
Nice to see some bigger channels covering my home country Wales. Beautiful country regarding the weather it does rain a lot however we do get some really nice weather, for the next week we got 24+ degrees Celsius

Hi Mark, we are still on lockdown here in Wales but we've had the driest and sunniest spell for years, typical! As soon as it opens up again we bet the rain returns. Wales is definitely worth a visit when normality returns, very underrated and lots to see and do (lots and lots of castles too, we all actually live in one).
I recently discovered this channel and was pleasantly surprised to see you have done a couple Wales 🏴 vids, I am from South Wales, about 20 miles from brecon. your pretty spot on with your videos, we have Hot sunny weather for about 6 weeks of the year lol (20-28 Celsius). Nice vid !
I was able to visit North Wales last year and I fell in love with it! Definitely the highlight of my trip. I left a piece of my heart ♥️ in Wales 🏴

I'm a Canadian who lived in North Wales for 2 years, and I really liked it. It's a beautiful culture. People were always very surprised when they met me and found out that I moved there from Canada.
While we love tourists Wales like Scotland, and northern Ireland is still on lock down. Only England isn't. Hope to see you once it's over. Stay safe. :)
lcflngn it was. I refuse to erase those memories. I even made a little musical clip for the train (using the B52’s: “Roam” lol). The castle was just amazing. We investigated a bit more but between Wales and Scotland, I was in heaven.
I was born in England, raised in Wales with mostly Irish blood and consider myself British and proudly so. But it's only when I go to England that I truly realise that I'm Welsh. When you hear English people on a train talking loudly and disrespectfully about their Welsh and Scottish cousins you realise how different they are, though most of the arrogant or ignorantly entitled English are southerners and not northerners. Fun fact for those who may not be aware: the welsh word for England translates to "the lost lands" as the Welsh people owned that land before the Saxon invasions drove them to the hills and valleys of Wales. The legend of King Arthur fighting off the invading Saxons is from this time period PS most English are nice and I would never want to see the breakup of the UK as I think we all benefit from union
But you get the same with some people in Wales/Scot/NI, they'll always be some idiots about. Agree on the Union, we're all better off as a family of nations than any other alternative. Wouldn't mind a devolved federal system giving more powers to Cardiff etc etc if it came to that. - a southerner.
@@ruk2227 down with the union! How is it acceptable that the UK government (English in all but name) can borrow and then shift a portion of the debt onto Welsh tax payers? This is Why Wales is in debt. It's not down to their own making as the country dosnt have those sort of powers, in terms of loaning money. How anyone can think this is acceptible is beyond me. It's like a family member taking out a loan on behalf of their entire family without telling them, and making each of them pay 20% off...its insane! What makes it even worse is the fact that most, if not all the borrowed money goes on English only projects.
@@WalesTheTrueBritons You say the govt is English in all but name but that is due to the hash job of a devolution settlement that we have whereby English laws have to be passed in the UK parliament unlike in the other parts of the UK. With all due respect, Wales GDP is less than a fifth of London's let alone England and the overwhelming tax burden in the UK falls on London (I don't live there). I'm a Unionist not for financial reasons (NI financing "cost" more than the EU contributions), but because of the sentiment. Our differences as-well as our commonalities add to these isles and I for one would rather we stayed together.
You can also use google maps to download areas you know you'll be going as an offline map and then you only need a GPS satellite to find you to use it reliably.

Oof, I am supposed to go to Wales for the first time this fall and I don’t know if that will happen! But if/when it does, I will keep these tips in mind. Thanks Mark!
I know the date is shown as 27th May 2020 but I can't help wondering if this an old video? We've had the best weather I can remember for years over the last couple of months - funnily enough since about the time lockdown started. Apart from 1 downpour which lasted an hour, I can't remember when we had rain last.
Something to know before you go: you wont understand the locals. The Welsh speak English as if they are completely drunk AND have a mouth full of oatmeal. Every time I had to fly on British C130s in Afghanistan they let the Welsh crewman give the pre takeoff safety brief, the first time I was sitting next to an English Contractor, I turned to him and asked “what is he saying?” The response was, “don’t worry mate, we can’t understand them either. It’s a safety brief, you’ve flown on C130s before, just do the same stuff on ours as yours.” I like Welsh people, they are friendly as hell, I just can’t understand 95% of what they say....
Nice... we were supposed to be leaving for the UK next week to spend a few days in northern Wales before going out on a canal boat for a couple of weeks. What with the COVID-19 thing, that trip has fallen through, but we have pushed it back to next year. So here's a vacation idea for you... a hired narrow boat on the canals of the UK.
It Rains literally everywhere! Wales isn't the only country that has that type of climate. England and Scotland share the same wether system as Wales does. South Wales is actually considered to be one of the most temperate parts of Britain.
The high hills bear the brunt of the Atlantic weather system in Wales, although as a rule the west of Britain does get more rain than the east. You are quite right about the local variation in the weather, south Wales is indeed relatively warm and dry.
In Merthyr Tydfil there is a castle/Musium. It has so much information about the area and what it was like during the second world war. It's worth the look. It's in a huge nature park and is covered in greenery and flowers. You should check it out Wolter 😁
Is that TV show Call Centre still running? I watched some episodes years ago. They can be funny for such a cold and dreary looking place. I remember Tom Jones with all those ladies on his show and his What's Up Pussycat? song. Most people these days probably have no idea who he is.
Do you all mainly eat food from stores over restaurants? I'm beginning to lean more of that direction and wanted to get your take. Also, does a lot of Europe close early?
