- This is my whole marathon in 9mins. I'm really happy with having finished. There was a good case for me not doing it at all this year but I'm so pleased that I did. I believe this is the greatest race I've ever done. Every year the support is spectacular. Thank you!

to your point "I believe this is the greatest race I've ever done" I feel the same, what a day it was😀 and great that you captured it in this video, so thank you for that, and well done👍
Well done to you too, Darren. We have to get the Barrington boys back on tour.
@@RunSensible 100% Neil, we have to make it happen this year👍
First! Looking very spritely at the start there. I hope this ends well 🙏😬👍🏻
Still smiling at the end mate. Great to see. Fantastic effort 👍🏻🏃♂️
Haha - that spritely start never made it past the halfway point. 🙈
You missed all the tears in the later miles. 😁😁😁
Great running. Fair play for running with a camera. Dont think i could run that far and still vlog. Great video.
Thanks, Stu. It was a bit of a slog. 😄
Was chatting to you running up through Phoenix Park on Chesterfield Av. Great video. Fair play for Vlogging it. 💪🏻
Cantona is king 👑
Yes I remember you on Chesterfield Ave. You were on my left and I told you I was making a UA-cam video, right??
@@RunSensible Exactly. I appear behind you in the video over your right shoulder later. 😊
Great running💪. I actually recognised you at the start line from your other videos but I couldn't remember your name. Now I can see myself back on your video at the start line shitting myself 🙈😂
Haha - that's class. You should have come over and said Hi. Well done for getting to the start line, that's always the hardest part. I hope you had a good race. 👍
@@RunSensible Next time I definitely will come over. I was standing beside the 3.20 pacers and was wondering should I go through the crowd to get to you haha. It was a brilliant day and it was my 1st marathon. Really enjoyed it and will be signing up again for it next year 😁
@@richardbalfe1026 Dublin Marathon is a good one. They're not all that well supported or that good of an atmosphere. Well done!! 💪 💪 💪
@@RunSensible That's good to know man. It was a class atmosphere there. Hopefully see at u again at some race in the future 💪👍
@@richardbalfe1026 ill be there next year too!!
Well done Neil great race
Thanks for watching, John. 💪
Well done to you. I got in at 4.12 - the idea like yourself was to be quicker but I started to seize up and get bad cramps, ate and drank through the entire thing! Still I think we all done well. I loved the crowd there and think I owe them an awful lot of thanks, especially when I started getting a wee. It delirious.
Too right, Mark. We all owe the crowd a big THANK YOU! It's a great race, my PB is 3.08 and yesterday I was 3.41. There is always another race. Well done!! 💪
‘You know your in trouble when taking Jaffa cakes of people’ 😂😂😂 love it well done and thanks for posting
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👌
Well done to you!!
Thanks, Stephen. 👍
Well done! Looks like you enjoyed yourself! Especially those Jaffa cakes 😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Evelyn, I finished up having 6 Jaffa Cakes in total. Absolutely delicious. 😋
@@RunSensible My kinda marathon 😂 Glad to see you happy to be racing again! On to the next one!
Well done on your run. 26.2 miles of tough going, made harder by concentrating on the video and talking. Great achievement. Also, fair play to the good people who made a point of going out to buy Jaffa Cakes and other goodies, to hand out to the participants, who are complete strangers to them. Is this a Dublin thing? Nice act of kindness!
Nice race!!
Great for the first half and a slog in the second.
Great job. I ran about the same time on the same day in Washington DC at the Marine Corps Marathon. I was accepted to run Dublin next year so I’m looking forward to it
Ah that's fantastic. Well done!! 💪
Great running Neil. You captured your enjoyment so well. Always smiling 🙂 I followed your tracker and although I was at work for the last part, the Bluetooth connection with my watch told me you’d finished. Well done again, I think your video will help their sales next year 😊
Thanks, Rachel. I'm dosed with the flu since the race but can't wait to get going again and build towards a marathon PB next year.
Great video....well done. Attempting my first DCM this year....your video has given me a great insight. Thank you.
Good luck, Bryan. I'll be there again too.
Super video! I can't really remember the last 10k at all but was fine once I ate and drank everything from the goodie bag at the end. 1hr50m for the first half but a shuffle finish for 4hr total 1st marathon.
Going watch some of your other vids for training tips. Cheers!
Thanks, Mick. I'll post lots of stuff in the coming months as I prepare to PB (3.07) my next marathon.
Thanks for watching. 👌
Great job getting it done Neil! I'm always amazed that people can film while they race! Looked like a great day! Way to persevere! Keep pushing my friend!
Thanks, Paul. It was a tough one but so glad I just got another under the belt. The last marathon I did was 2018.
@@RunSensible Isn't it amazing how quickly we forget the pain of 26.2! LOL!
Thanks for the Video, I like you started off at 320 balloons, and felt good all the way up to 30k! I was so frustrated and disappointed I came in slower than I did the before! But I'm over that now. Great video to see it all again and see it from the point of view of someone else thinking they had it in the bag! 😂
Given the walking breaks you ran a decent time there.
Smiling all the way. Brought back happy memories for John enjoying the Dublin support.
And 3 free jaffa cakes to boot. What's not to like.
Thanks guys. I've been struck down with flu since the race but can't wait to build towards a marathon PB next year.
woouu keren amazing greetings greetings success always 🙏
Thanks foe watching! 👍
Great job pushing through that last half! Dublin is still on my bucket list of places I want to visit! 🤓
The Dublin marathon, I reckon, is the best marathon in the world. The support and encouragement the whole way around is insane. 🙃🙃
I was 340 and I agree it was a hard one! Great video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Seamus. I've done 3.08 on that course but hadn't ran a marathon since 2018 so I'm just delighted to be back.
Привет друг! Очень интересное видео! От меня как всегда палец вверх 👍
Neil, you looked like you had a blast! So much support was nice to see. This must have felt so good to get after training hard and dealing with the low iron issue. You got a nice medal too! 👍💪💪🏅
Thanks, Gill. It was a great feeling finishing and getting the medal.
Congrats on your race! I missed my target yesterday and I've been pretty down about it but your upbeat video is a good reminder that it was a day to be enjoyed first and foremost! I hit the wall about 21 miles and I could really have done with a few more water stations in the business end of the race. Had to shuffle and walk my way around UCD and I was powerless as my pacers disappeared into the distance. Oh well. I've another one lined up for May so I'll give it another go then.
Ah good stuff, Matthew. My PB in Dublin is 3.08 and yesterday I was 3.41. Don't be too down on yourself as there's always another race. Be proud that you got it done!
It really was hot and humid over the first 10k of that race so maybe that zapped your energy?
@@RunSensible I didn't notice the humidity much tbh. For me I think the psychological impact of not having enough water from 18 miles on was a big part of the problem. I'm used to training with a continuous supply of water and I need more as the run goes on, but the water stations were only every three miles. I could have done with a water station every mile or so from Terenure village on.
Great video, I do a vlog too, keep running ❤
Thanks, Joel. I just had a look at your channel. Great work.
Looked like a great race there Neil, super support and noise from the crowd. Excellent running, loved seeing how much you enjoyed it too which can be hard to do with marathons!
Thanks, Ben. I truly believe Dublin is the best marathon in the world. Biased but true. 🤣 🤣
Beautiful race footage! Awesome atmosphere there! Next year I have to run a marathon! 👍Thanks for the inspiration, Neil! Best wishes!
Thanks, Mihai. 👍
Well done! Your “shuffle and a walk” is my top speed!! Best to you from the US!
Thanks for watching, Matt.
Brilliant running well done on a great achievement 👏
Thanks, Bren. I can't stop eating now! 😋
Top job Neil! You smashed it mate! That looked like a great race bud the atmosphere looked buzzing! What a top result too. Huge kudos mate! 😎🤘
OMG well done Neil I'm all smiles for you pal. Congratulations and What a crowd!! I hope you got to sign some autographs.
Thanks, Sid. You really feel speech fall running that last mile as the kids so loud. Thanks for watching.
Well done, Neil. I can't imagine what it's like to keep pounding on a hard surface for so many miles. You did it with a smile on your face. The atmosphere seemed joyful!
The atmosphere is always intense. A great race.
Dude, the support looked amazing out there! I'm glad you enjoyed it despite the challenges along the way. It's such an amazing but frustrating distance to run... Probably why we keep coming back for more! Great string finish and great memories to kook back on 😊
Great work Neil. It looked like a great day with cloudy skies.
It was as good a day as you're gonna get for a race. 👍
Thanks for watching. 👌
What a great marathon! Love how you filmed it. Also quite some altitude there👍 good job!
Congrats, what a day it was, my fastest DCM delighted 3 weeks after Chicago, but without a doubt a tough day, also my daughter gave you a shout out as you entered the Park the second time just caught a glimpse of her in the clip. Congrats again
Ah that's class, Anthony. Tell you daughter I said thanks and we'll done you on Chicago and Dublin. Awesome.
what a wonderful race you captured. it seems as though you enjoyed every moment of it. even when walking and though the tough times you're still smiling, well done Neil
Thanks, Bradley. You hit the nail on the head. It was really tough but I enjoyed every minuet. All those smiles were due to me feeling that I'm finally back. The last time I ran a running race was 2018.
Nice Run,buddy! 😉👍
Thanks for watching pal. 😊
@@RunSensible no worries!
great job my friend you filming while racing,incredible..greetings from indonesia
Thank you so much for watching. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Respect and well done 💪
Thank you!
Well done Neil!! Sunday was my first marathon and as my first newby mistake, i started too fast and hit the wall around mile 18. It was a nightmare. But i am glad to be able to finish it with no injuries .. Ready for next one :)
Well done, Tieme. This was my 21st marathon. I think I've done Dublin 9 times. I made the exact same mistake as you and started walking around 30km. It's so hard to pace the marathon correctly not matter how many you do. Don't be too annoyed with yourself. You did great just getting to the start line.
@@RunSensible yes.. I was a bit disappointed with myself but then I realised I was being unfair.. it was my first marathon, I finished in 3:44 it wasn't too bad after all.. and most importantly I finished with a smile in my face... it was great fun
@@ImamotoTieme that's fantastic. Most people would be delighted ith that time. I've done 3.08 and 3.09 in Dublin and this year I did 3.42.
Don't feel down, feel optimistic for next year. 🤙 🤣
@@RunSensible that's right 😊 and well done again
Great race! Very well done. Loved seeing you smiling so much on the course.
Thanks, Jay. I didn't realise that I was smiling. Had I been going for a specific time or PB I would have been crying.
It was a long road this year and I was just delighted to be there. 👍
💪⭐
Thank you!
Well done, I had a really tough day yesterday. Didn’t get what I wanted but sure I finished anyway. The support was unreal as always.
It's such an amazing event. It has to one of the best supported/spectated events in the world. I love it!
Sorry it didn't go to plan for you. There was a lot of people I know who had similar days. Maybe due to the 2 yar absence of the race?
Huge congrats Neil! It was a really nice video to watch, with you smiling all the way and the support seemed amazing! I hope your legs are recovering ok :)
Thanks, Chloe. Remarkably the legs are fine after that one. I even ran up and down the stairs yesterday. 😁
Well done! It's full watching! Nice,buddy 😉👍
Thanks?! 👍
@@RunSensible No worries!😉👍
Great work Neil, good time too !
Thanks, James. I'm just delighted to have another one under the belt. 👌
Awesome job capturing the experience Neil. I noticed several people wearing the same jersey as you, what team were you racing for? Hearing all those folks must have been so motivating. Nice job pushing through the pain and congrats on the finish!!!
I run with Portmarnock Athletic Club. We had about 45 people in the race and probably another 20 or so on course as marshalls. Thanks for watching, Sage.
i started a bit behind u in wave 4, it was a bvery tough race considering i had really trained for it. managed to do the half in aroudn 1:40, but died around 33km with 1 km taking me 8min, it was all a blur after that. Turn left after vincent's and that rad that went on forever. Still 4:11.15 for the race,. i'll take that. 1 thing i didnt like there was no food stops, just water and Lucozade sport
Well done, Cathal. Yes I was a tough race especially with the heat and humidity at the start. Yes, that road seemed to go on forever... 😂 😂 😂
I had plenty of Jaffa Cakes though. 😋
Well done. Great to see a marathon vlog where the vlogger actually enjoyed the event :-)
How did you find the shoes?
Thanks for watching and the kind comment. I think sometimes we all take ourselves too seriously. Sometimes you just gotta live.
The shoes were great. No pain, no blisters and no laces opened. 👌
Great footage! What camera do you use or do you use a stabilizer as well?
Thanks, Steph. I used a GoPro Hero 8 which has stabilisation as a built in feature. Thanks for watching. 👌
Oh how I love the sound of all those footsteps😀 great video Neil👏
There's nothing better.
