Airplane Ownership Seriously Changed how I Conduct Life

  • On this video I'll talk about how Airplane Ownership Seriously Changed how I Conduct my Life. While I have been under a frustrating moment due to an annual aggravation with the Turbo Saratoga, there there are many more rewards to airplane ownership that make it all worthwhile. Since I was young, I always had a vision of owning my own airplane. I circumnavigated my life to make the dream of airplane ownership a reality. Now, much of my travel for business or pleasure involves the Cherokee Six and the Turbo Saratoga. I am hoping to share this flying passion with my children so that, one day, they could hopefully takeover the airplanes.

Great video series Raul. I have watched throughout my training and your videos have helped encourage me to become a part owner in a plane. Keep the content coming!

Raul, I absolutely share your pain dealing with your shop. I had a whole ordeal last year when I had my airplane painted and the owner of the shop instructed her employees not to have any contact with me. I was only trying to get updates to see if they were going to keep their word on their schedule or something close to it. It was the worst I’ve probably ever been treated as a customer, especially since owning an airplane. Luckily her crew did an outstanding job on the paint but the owner needs to learn better customer service. As Slick Willy used to say, “I feel your pain.”

I grew up in a time where customers were a priority. As a business owner for over 2 decades I’d always tell my employees that it is the customers that pay us. I just manage the money and sign the checks. 😀

I met you and your son a few years ago at an O'Reilly Auto Parts I used to manage off of Hampden and Tower in Aurora. Ive been watching ever since. I had my first hour in the pilots seat out of the space port a few weeks ago. Thanks for the content!

I liked when you said flying is just not about manoeuvring the airplane. I would add it's also comm, navigation, planning, knowing how the weather behaves in every part of your path/track, it's maintenance. It's a lot of work and a lot to know if you really want to be good at it. And the more you know, the more you understand what you don't know yet and it's like a magnet in my case, I need to know. It's nice to have a passion that can drive us to be more knowledgeable like that. Keep the videos coming! I think it would be interesting to have a more technical videos about the issues you're experiencing with the planes.

Thanks buddy! It’s a whole lot! You are absolutely correct and I appreciate you sharing your insight. It really is too much to really detail it out. That’s why I just summarized it into studying, dedication and responsibility. Because there are a lot of things to learn in aviation. It is nonstop learning. And you think like me. I need to know and I like to constantly learn because I know that I simply don’t know. Yes, it is very much a magnetic behavior and an attraction to learning new skills in life. You are right on target 🎯. Thanks 😊

Great video Raul. I am in the aviation field, I'm a 3rd generation aircraft maintainer, my grand father was a pilot and mechanic, he was one of the pilots in the Hells Angels movie made by Howard Hughes, my father was a pilot and mechanic as well. I started working on planes with my father when I seven years old doing dope and fabric work on old Ag-planes, now 46 years later I'm still at it. Aviation is a great field to be in and it is what you make of it.

I surely understand your frustration. I moved out here to Arizona for the weather, of course. Unfortunately, with the huge influx of new pilots, and the large numbers of flight training schools lately, the sky is full of low time pilots. Now flying is like a fist fight to find a spot in line to land... Not like the old days when I could go out to the airport and do touch and goes and have the sky to myself. The same influx of pilots has made maintenance a nightmare. Mechanics are booked out for months ahead, so they don't need your business. The result is poor service. Welcome to the New World....

    • @FlyingDirty
      @FlyingDirty  Рік тому

My friend, it goes two ways. If they act like they don’t need my service, I simply won’t give it to them. With patience and determination I’ll always find one that will. I’ve owned businesses since I was young and I was raised in an environment where the customer is the prime focus. I turn my back on those that pretend they don’t want customers. I always have choices and I was able to get my Cherokee Six quickly scheduled back in Colorado with my circle there and take it from the guys here. So they lost my money and my confidence and I’ll search for another. But I do understand where you are coming from. But in this world, you either adapt or get left behind. Always a pleasure my good friend 😀

Hahaha…….of course I would find this channel. I’ve been a DJ for 23 years and did some flying lessons back in the early 2000’s. Looking to start over and earn my private. And always looking to grow my DJ business.
I think your videos will be a nice little motivation for me!

Thanks for your videos Raul. I am in the process of learning about all these experiences around flying before i get my PPL, i have a family like yours and thinking on going the same path. I want to get my license and take them around the country. Your videos are inspiring, full of insight and reveal the full experiences around GA not just the technical details of flying the planes. Keep on flying...

You are welcome Felipe! I remember when I first decided to get an airplane I had initially budgeted for something cheaper and smaller. Then I thought to myself, flying would not be as enjoyable without my family. And then came the idea behind getting a Six seater airplane. That was a great choice! You are on the right path Felipe. Thank you for such a great motivational comment 😀

Hi Duane! Thank you my friend for such inspiring words. I enjoy flying and sharing the ventures. The shop will be for printing, embroidery, graphics, video editing. I liked the music recording days but not the business part of it. It was too wild for me. But, I still like to play around with making tracks from time to time so it will be a bit of that as well. Thanks again Duane for sharing your thoughts with me 😀

Hello, and thank you for this channel. I appreciate what you have contributed to aviation and this UA-cam channel. I want to say to you that I am positioning myself to make you an offer on that Piper Cherokee 6. I know you’re going to take care of it. I have a big family, with two little ones. My son is 10 years old, my daughter is currently 7, and I want to see if they have aviation in their blood like their dad. Take care and I hope we’ll talk soon.

Hello there 😀 Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I greatly appreciate it! I’ve had a passion for Aviation since I was a young boy in Puerto Rico. I do enjoy sharing my passion and inspire you all to make your aviation dreams a reality. This stuff has seriously made our lives so much more enjoyable. The Six is a great family airplane. Comfortable and easy on the maintenance compared to others. It’s going to be tough for me to get rid of that bird because my entire family will not satisfy the useful load on the Piper Turbo Saratoga. But, you never know what the future may hold. 😀Thanks for your great comment!

It is but sometimes it makes me want to cry. I remember one trip from Jacksonville, FL to Dallas took me 3 stops and, at times, we were doing close to 90 😭😭😭. But I agree, no red lights, cops to pull you over for speeding, and still faster. 😄
