I just installed my Gta Car Kit inside my 2008 Mazda 6 about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE IT.
Works exactly as advertised and the installation was a piece of cake. This coming from someone who has never done a single mod or installation inside a vehicle before and even I did it following these simple instructions in less than an hour. Other than finding a place to run the wire through? It was completely simple and straight forward if you follow the steps carefully. Put it this way. I didn't even have the 10 millimeter socket wrench I went to autozone and installed it in front of the store in 40 minutes. Sound quality is great and works fantastic. Definitely reccomend to anyone that doesn't wanna pay 400 dollars for someone else to do the same job :)

Works perfectly and installed in about 30 minutes! So glad I don't have to use an fm transmitter anymore. No more static and the quality is perfect. If you have an automatic... it is easier to take out the piece around the shifter in neutral and put it back in when in park. THANK YOU

Great video and crazy easy installation. IMPORTANT NOTE for Mazda 6's with Climate Control: You must unscrew ALL 4 screws mounted to the stereo console to remove it, not just the 2. The CC/AC knobs do not simply snap off like they do in the video, since they operate circularly... so you do not need to remove them, the stereo console will snap off with them still attached - as long as you remove ALL 4 screws (02:08) you see as soon as you remove the gear shifter frame.
Perhaps a foolish question, but why doesn't this work with the media button? What is that buttons purpose?

I installed it on my mazda 6 2007. Its exactly what I was looking for and the sound is amazing! This video doesnt show you the climate control nobs, those done come off. unscrew it on the button and the 10mm bolt then push it from the back at the radio and it will pop out.

Just installed this tonight on an 07 Mazda 6 and it was a very easy mod. Hardest part was connecting the shift boot portion of the console haha..I ended up keeping the cig outlet unplugged. I recommend keeping the iPod playing while putting everything back in case there is interference and static plays.

Excellent Video! Installed similar unit in Australian 2006 Mazda 6 Auto. Plastic cover for the auto drive selector makes it a little bit fiddly - position to D or R for easier removal/installation. This auto selector has 3 small wired bulbs for lighting - 2 under the drive selector positioning (twist to remove), and 1 next to the cigarette lighter plug (push clips on each side to remove). I Drilled a hole in the base of ash tray to route cable to iPhone windscreen cradle. Box sits in glovebox.

Just installed on my 2007 Mazda 6. I am NOT car/tech savvy at all. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to do it. Only real hangup was getting over the automatic gear stick while releasing the electrical running to the lighter. Once I did that, the rest was super easy. Seems to work quite well.

my girlfriend ordered this for me for my birthday. i was able to follow this video to get it installed except that i had a 2007 and my car was automatic. if you have an automatic i suggest with the E-Break on shifting into neutral to remove this part of the console. other than that everything worked great! and also for iphone 5 users the lightning converter to use the old iphone connector will correctly play music and charge your phone.

I have an 08 and did not have to remove the ac knobs and it went fine. If you have a automatic you may have to shift into neutral or drive to remove the paneling around the gear shift. That was the only part different than the video for me. Thanks for the help!
Great vid. 4 screws and one 10mm bolt on accessible via glovebox was all i needed to make a my GF's 12 hour car ride much more enmjoyable

Thanks - this video was really helpful. At 2:35 - my Mazda 6 2006 has silver rotating dials on the fan and temp buttons and you DON'T need to remove these - there are no screws under them and the dials are not always easy to refit.
Were you able to get the gear shift knob off? I have the same model and year, and mine does not want to come off.
Kirsten Tackett Yes no problem - it's just screwed on and should come off when turned anti-clockwise. Maybe it has been overtightened in the past?

Does it works in a Mazda 6 with Bose sound ?
This is for a left hand side mazda 6 . Right hand drive you just need to remove glove box and you can reach the empty aux slot. I did mine in 2 mins using an aux lead
had to replace my center upper console, this was awesome , mine has automatic transmission to, coffee had cup holder stuck hard, thanks, also mine is a 2007 6i
There is a kit through Best Buy that you can get hooked up to the radio. They have a standard Aux/USB combo and an apple cable. Both run about $139.99 with install included depending on what city in state you are in may vary. Call them up, or a local car audio place and see what you can find. Hope this helps.

Brilliant kit, installed today on my Mazda 6 sport (2007).
Installation was even easier than shown on video. Due to right hand driver position in the UK I did not have to pull out radio dashboard. Just removed the glow box and could easily reach the port to connect GAT Car Kit.
Switching tracks via wheel controls does not work thought for my iPod Shuffle. Not sure if it was intended to work this device.

Do you have any kits that end in a simple female USB? That way I can plug in my own charging cord wether it be microUSB or a lighting cord.

Hi, I recently installed this AUX cable to my car, thanks to your very detailed video. However seems like I might have pulled the cable too hard and now only the right side of the speakers are working. tried tightening the AUX from the back part of the radio and still didnt work. I tried removing the the whole piece to re-enter it. This has been impossible, the white plastic piece will not come out. Please advice on how to uninstall.

I've had this a while now and I love it. I was wondering though when the car is off does the kit turn off or is it constantly drawing power from the head unit ,cause I leave my ipod plugged into it all the time.
When the car is OFF, the radio is turned OFF too (Car OFF means the key is completely turned to OFF or taken out); the kit turns OFF when the radio turns off and of course when the car is turned off
Ok I get it that it only works on 06 to 08s, I would like to keep my steering wheel buttons working for my stereo, I have a mazda6 2005, do you know if the 2006 stereo can be installed on the 2005 and have all my buttons on steering wheel working and then I could install the kit. I could just buy a stereo with an AUX port and stereo kit but I want to keep my volume and skip available from steering wheel. I hope I am making sence. By the way love the instrustions it rocks

can you use this product if the car has the built in navigation on the 06-08 models? or does the navigation use the same port on the back of the radio?
I have accidentally loosen up the AUX adapter from the radio while cleaning my A/C air filter, the adapter worked but the AUX volume was really really low, even when the radio was on full volume, and the USB didn't work, so im going to give this a nice try and see if this fixes my issue.

@MrMonarch11 If you connect to the MP3 player via the 3.5jack then you will only have volume control, everything else will be in the actual MP3.

Wouldn't you be able to just swap out the cigarette lighter with an aux port? & just get one with a wire that fits when you disconnect the lighter?
If I use the aux cable of the kit and hook my phone up to it that is not an iPhone could it play music like pandora or does it only work with iPhone? I have already checked your website and that is the only thing I need to know before I order it.

Will this kit work with the AUX cord for Iphone 5?
I have an Automatice 2066 Mazda 6 but, my thermostat control dials are not the same as these. My dials are large buttons with the dial rotating around it. Do those just pop off like these or is there some special way to pull them off?
The bolt fell when installing the radio back, not sure where but it sounded like it hit a soft place. Do i need to bolt it down or is it ok? Should I buy a new bolt?

Yes the installation will be very similar, everything is the same, except your will not have to remove the climate knobs (as there is no screws underneath them).

I've been looking for a way to have an Aux port in my ms6, but the only things Ive found requires modding of my dash, which for me means breaking something. I really want to install this in my car but I'm rather hesitant because i feel like if it was this easy ALOT more people would be doing it. Is this the same head unit as is in my Speed6? My car has the Bose sound but not the nav and Sirius radio that came in the grand touring edition. Any help would be appreciated!
