I have switched to your original dish soap recipe with the Castile soap. It works so well I would never go back to the commercial brands. This one looks great too! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!!
@@ouroilyhouse Would you please share with us the link for the dish soap recipe with the Castile soap
Can you please share the link or recipe for the original one?
@@ouroilyhouse also searching for the recipe with castile soap
Where can i find the original I've searched her page and nothing
I can’t imagine how wonderful it smells while doing dishes! You have so many great ideas, thank you for teaching us! Baby napping near Mama’s heart so sweet! 🙌🏻🥰
Thanks so much! 😊
Absolutely great video. This is truly the most cost effective DIY dish soap I have seen. I live in the UK and have never seen that soap but I am also transitioning to zero waste life, so will find an alternative.
Glad it was helpful!
This was a good recipe, and it worked well with Zote soap. I added the glycerin, and discovered it really does help it gel up. I purchased a 50 oz bottle of antibacterial soap at Walmart ($2.45), the Equate brand and also added 2 tbsps. The essential oils really make it smell nice. It does not suds up but I really do not care because it cleans so well. The water turns a really pretty whiteish, and I like that. I was not sure what the salsa was however I used what I had on hand. Good job, and those little legs dangling were so cute ❤
I think she said "Sal Suds," but it did sound like salsa. Sal Suds is a Dr. Bronner's product.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I am on my second batch and my husband and I both love it, especially the aroma.
I'm so glad you like it!!
Love your channel and all of the things you make. In a short time I have replaced all of my cleaning products with yours from here ! Cost effective but so much healthier and safer. I love lemon oil also so my house smells amazing all the time. With love from North Vancouver Canada.
You are so welcome!
I made the soap! Like it! 👍👏 thank you
You are welcome 😊
Thank you so much for your teaching videos I learned a lot from you🥰 I would like pls to ask you if you can make us a facial or body cream with rose essential oil. I have the oil but I do not know how to use it.
That soap looks amazing!
Can you use Zote laundry bar ? interesting recipe I wouldn't mind trying
Yes
Interesting recipe! I noticed you said you add vinegar to your diluted Castile soap version- just so you know, vinegar (acidic) neutralizes Castile soap (alkaline) rendering it less effective. I’ve heard some like to follow a Castile soap wash with a vinegar rinse. Then each one offers its own cleaning power in a separate step.
Thanks for the info!
I don't recommend the Fels-Naptha soap bar because of the dangerous and harmful ingredients. I recommend using Earthborn Elements Soap Flakes. Nothing artificial or dangerous. With the harmful ingredients in the Fels-Naptha you might as well use the dangerous Dawn or something store bought. The Fels-Naptha didn't use to have all these dangerous ingredients but when Purex bought them out, it's now chalked full are dangerous ingredients.... it's sad.
Thats helpful to know. do you need to heat and melt the flakes like the grated bar of soap?
@@MrsKeane25 Yes you'll want to
What about using zote soap?
@@miahootman5018 I wouldn't recommend. Ever since they were bought out they use a synthetic fragrance which is unnatural and highly toxic to the human body.
@@janedoe2596 So WHAT do you use???
Thanks so much for sharing this video it was really informative. Kansas sales sites be used for body wash to make it thicker with the Castile soap
Glad it was helpful!
This is wonderful, thanks!
You're very welcome!
i love soap foamers, i have an awful experience reusing them but, i am trying to learn, noy easy.
Thank you for your video. I was doing research and I wasn't able to figure out whether essential oils are safe to ingest. Many websites warned against using them in a way that would be ingested, but then many other websites encourage putting them in dish soaps. Is it because the essential oils are diluted with water that they then become safe? what are your thoughts?
great recipe. Sal suds is super strong though due to the SLS, so it could irritate some peoples hands. It does mine, so just warning folks out there who are sensitive to SLS
Kristen Guardado what is Sal Suds ?
@@joannefrost4034 one of the ingredients she used. It's a very powerful concentrated soap/cleaner. It works great, but the 2nd ingredient is SLS, which is very irritating to the skin. It even has that warning on the bottle
SLES is the harsher, drying compound, SLS is less so. Both are derived from coconut oil.
@@joannefrost4034 It's a liquid detergent made by Dr Bronners. It's nontoxic, despite someone in comments who keeps trying to trash it, made from vegetable oils, rinses clean in hard water, is thick and highly concentrated so it goes a long way. They recommend using it for general cleaning, laundry, dishes, etc, and Castile soap for the body.
@@jaytee3baxter SLS is quite harsh on my skin, so I was just informing others that it could cause problems for their skin as well, even if it's derived from coconut oil.
nice I've been wanting this thank you
Any time!
Once you buy everything you need for the soap , im wondering how many bottles you can make from all the products ? I love the fact that its all natural , but i really want it to be the low price . Im trying to find the same products here in quebec , i hope i can try it soon ! Thank you for the video xx
I usually use reusable glass spray bottles, however this one is to thick for a spray bottle. You can save an old dosh soap container.
It looks like it makes one bottle
Great video thank you. Do you let the soap water cool before adding the other ingredients?
Yes I do!
Where can I find the recipe for the other liquid dish soap? thank you!
This is the one I am finally going to try out but what's the ratio or grams recipe please?
What's salsa? Here In Portugal it's parsley. Is any hand-wash product? Cause we don't know that.
Sal Suds. That's a concentrated soap. It sounds like Salsa. 😅😅😅
Great video! Where can you buy the container that you put the dish soap into?
I got it from Walmart.
How many drops of lemon essential oil do you use? Great video Laura. 😀
10 drops
Would zote soap bar work in this? Any thoughts on using zote soap?
So I'm wondering about the use of Sodium lauryl sulfate in sals suds... I thought that was something crunchy folks try to avoid. ;) Maybe I'm getting it confused with something else!?
Yes, it is commonly mistaken for sodium laureth sulfate, SLES. Both are derived from coconut oil, which is known in soapmaking for being the most highly effective oil for cleansing but can have a drying effect unless superfatted. Dr Bronners and Lisa Bronner's blog, Going Green, has detailed information available about Sal Suds and how it's made. They are one of the most ethical and transparent companies out there.
Yes i have also heard that dr bronners sal suds is not clean
Where can I buy the dish soap bottle? I really like it
is Fels Natha harmful and is it concentrated?
Can we use zote
Thank you for sharing ✅
My pleasure
Please write recipe and ingredients here - I can't quite understand in the video what makes the bubbles also what kind of soap is that make ?
You can find full recipes and instructions on my blog.
Hi. Can you leave out the suds ?
Will it still be foamy?
That is what makes it so foamy!
I have the dr bronners castile soap eucalyptus scent can you use that to make products like this and shampoo?
Yes!
The Link for this does not work "Purchase your set of 100 essential oil roller bottle recipes and labels here ONLY $9.95:". Where is one that does work?
Thanks. I'll fix it! Here is a link: www.ouroilyhouse.com/100-essential-oil-roller-bottle-recipes/
I can’t hear the ingredients. Could you make a list of them please? Particularly the 1/4 of ...?
Everything is written out here: www.ouroilyhouse.com/homemade-dish-soap/
Thank you!
Hey, you shirt has legs! 😂 ☺️
At first glance I thought her bra must be on crooked then I realized someone was in there 😄

Hi Is adding Salt recommended if i want some more thickness and gel like consistency? I read in some articles that salt acts as a thickening agent in diy soap recipes. Please advise
Thanks
This recipe will get thick on its own!
The salt act also as preservative...
I am wanting to give this a try. However I recently looked at the Sal Suds cleaner and it has potassium hydroxide in it. When looking it up, it can be hazardous. What are some of your thoughts on this please? I so want to try this but am confused.
Potassium hydroxide is the catalyst that saponifies the oils into soap. It’s a type of lye. During the chemical reaction, the oils are chemically changed to create a totally different thing: soap. The potassium hydroxide totally and absolutely disappears. The chemistry is quite interesting. Every true soap is created with oil and lye, anything that doesn’t use this is actually a detergent and full of artificial chemicals.
Potassium hydroxide is necessary to make liquid soaps, just as sodium hydroxide is necessary to make bar soaps. Once the saponification process is completed, there is no lye of either kind left in the product and it is safe to use.
May I ask where you got your container?
Walmart
1/4 c soap 11/2c water 1/4 salsa tb glicerin essential oil
Sao suds 😂😂😂
Looks good perfect but you missed to provide measurements of all ingredients used.. Thank yoy
Cook grated soap longer. It gels
Mine went very hard gel when it cooled It was hard to even get out of a empty Dawn squeeze bottle
You can add some water and shake it up.
@@ouroilyhouse I retraced my steps and realized that I had put all ingredients; sal suds, glycerine, soap and water all together when the soap was melting. I should have left out sal suds and glycerin, and only added it after the soap melted. I remade a batch and it worked this time. It is gel like and can be squeezed out. Obviously the high heat hardened it. Works great. The old batch I saved and added to my soft scrub mix, it boosted it thank you
Is stupid to buy already made ingredients to pretend to be making your own. All people have been doing is mixing all kinds of already made ingredients into one. Waste of $$$$ and time.
What's salsa?
You mean Sal Suds? It is a cleaner that Dr. Bronners sells
Sals Suds by Dr Bonners
I didn’t understand one of the ingredients. I think it was the first ingredient, it was clear. You used a 1/4 cup. It sounded like salsa 🤣
Sal Suds
Seems simple and functional, but do you have anything you can make from scratch? No store-bought ingredients, just farm-yields/scraps+herbs? We need to get back to the VERY BASICS very soon. It seems a bit disingenuous/misleading to call something a "natural recipe" if you can't produce all of the natural ingredients that go into it.... I'll still admit this is ONE step in the right direction, but what if you can't buy that base soap bar?? Now you're down to water and animal fat...
Sal suds has SLS in it 🫣
But it doesn't have SLES, which is the more problematic compound, and they are often mistaken for one another.
