Aang had a really tough situation to be in, and I think a lot of people didn't understand or appreciate that. Going against his personal nature and kill someone would probably have psychologically scarred him.

nope apparently this is the fire lion turtle, the same one which Avatar Wan lived on. And this is the only one left bcs the people hunted the other lion turtles :(

@@GladwinAbel not exactly firebending but he has the element of fire which he can bestow upon people. As we see in Wan's story..before his party set out in the woods, they all borrowed the element of fire from the turtle for self protection. And when they came back, they had to return it back to the turtle.
