Great vid, thanks for the heads up on the dodgy KV2 turret, Pegasus are generally good in my experience but you cant win em all i guess.

Yes, I fully understand what you mean regarding fitting the competed track assembly to the hull. It had so many points to line up that it can be exasperating. It is worth the effort though, and the tracks have a nice sag to them. Pegasus Hobbies has a wonderful line of vehicle models, including Soviet armoured cars and even later versions of the KV series and self propelled guns. Their German stuff is nice too, and includes three "What if ?" 1946 hypothetical vehicles that are very imaginative. Their Panzer 38(t) is particularly nice too, although I don't like the way that the barrel has to be installed in a more elevated position. This is a petty complaint though, and the rivet details will give you a nerd-gasm when you dry brush them later.
My experience with the Kv-2 turret had a similar gap. Although it test fitted well, it still splayed a bit when I applied pressure. They give you two turrets though, so you can't really complain. Quite the opposite actually. Pegasus Hobbies makes some really interesting models, including a (huge) Great White Shark, and The Nautilus submarine from 20,000 Leagues under the Sea.

I got this set years ago , it's a great set! I have a KV-2 with winter camo and a KV-1E with Sumner camo

Some details are a bit soft. But some paint will add a lot. And for this price it is reasonable for a gaming piece, E.g. for games like "Battlegroup".

I’ve built the KV-2 kit and it’s really not as bad as he says it is.

I think you should give Pegasus kits another go. My BT-7 kit produced to perfectly fine models of those smoking coffins - er, I mean - light tanks.

Hmmm. Maybe if I see it really cheap I'll pick that kit up. Maybe I can make a BT-7 jump diorama or something

If you could model a "Tokyo drift" diorama that would work too. I can see where the KV2 turret was disappointing but these kits do make nice gaming pieces. Particularly when you consider two of them cost about as much as one 15mm Battlefront tank.

Maybe filling the gaps in the KV-2 turret with some putty could help, that’s what I did to mine.

I actually like the simplicity of these

These Pegasus kits, like many of these “quick build” kits, are aimed more at the wargaming fraternity rather than the dedicated model builder, hence the small number of bits and limited detail.

This sucks that you lost your interest in completing these models. I personally enjoy making challenging models such as these into nice display pieces, even if it takes me more than a year.
Have you tried some of the newer Revell 1/72 models? The T-55 kit went together like a dream. The T-90 was pretty good, but suffered a little bit from being too complex, while the T-80BV felt pretty poor. I can't quite make my mind up about their Panther kit, it felt a little bit crude. I can't recommend the 1/72 Italeri Tiger kit. It is a snap fit-ish kit that contains 2x tanks. They were full of sink holes, and the turrets were about as bad as the KV-2 turret in this video. The barrels were also wonky.

Hmm, I might get this just so I can have a dodgy KV-2 turret as a wreck for 20mm wargames scenery.

I believe these are old Italeri molds for their table top gaming series.

Even ignoring the terrible turret, the model looks like crap! Zvezda's 1/100 KV-1 is so much better. Even with the extra works with the road wheels the track sets still look worse than Zvezda's, due to sloppy sculpting where the wheels and drive sprocket meet the tracks.

The problem is the owner of Pegasus, he's sorta of a lazy dude that once it's done he is done and wont ever revisit that exact subject. He's really into hockey and classic movies, not WWII tanks so surprised he made these at all. The thing is he as well makes traditional molding models. Previous tank kits by Pegasus were higher quality with better model making.
