- 23 years ago a Surrey schoolgirl vanished. She left for school in the morning, never got there, was spotted that evening in local beauty spot Box Hill, then disappeared off the face of the earth... Two decades later, an ex-counter-terrorist cop living in the nearby town felt that something just didn’t quite add up and started to investigate. He contacted the journalist who originally covered the story to share his suspicions and the case was reignited, bringing new facts and new witnesses to light.

Pity Bright didn't ask her friend why she thought that Ruth had planned to leave rather than rhetorically ask the programmes audience.
I’ve just heard the part about the mother “falling “ down the stairs. I bet the police know that it’s the father and are suspicious about the mothers death too. He’s as guilty as sin!!
You watched this or not? That she fell down the stairs was a cover story Ruth was told so she wouldnt know she commited suicide.
I feel very strange about her father. Any normal parents would grab the chance for the help, I think the father is against it because he’s guilty of something. Religion twists people.
Extremly frustrating "doc". Its more about the two looking for her then it is about Ruth. Learned nothing except that a girl named Ruth went missing after she found out her mother commited suicide.
An interesting documentary. I think if Ruth had taken her own life her body would have been found at some point. As no one came forward to say they had seen a young girl walking along the road, it would seem most likely she got into a car and was driven away; hopefully to a new life somewhere far away.
23 year old schoolgirl. Isn't there a limit?
Maybe her father was abusive, or wanted to be free of his family...
