DMac jumped up into the 'tackle,' didn't attempt to wrap, aimed his shoulder at the guy's chin too (no way he didn't do that intentionally).
So yeah, red card every day of the week. If a ref gave that a yellow, then that would be a mistake.

Red card was technically correct but Nick Berry seems to enjoy his work a bit too much, the bloke's got zero empathy for the game or the players, he's like an over zealous traffic warden who slaps a ticket on your windscreen as soon as your back is turned
Can somebody please explain to me why the first yellow card even warranted a penalty? The guy could legit have intercepted the ball, even if he didn’t I would never label that deliberate. It wasn’t a well-waited pass at all
No it was too far ahead of him... under the rules it was a legitimate sin-bin. I do question the awarding of the penalty try though... there was no way the ref could have said 100% a try would have been scored.

@@vegetation99 there were two other players coming across to cover behind him.. he was odds on to score, maybe 80% but the fact it was a long cut out pass, and two defenders coming across behind him... only a sinbin in my opinion. But its in the record books.. so its a moot point.

The interpretation of the rule is messed up. The law states that the player has to make a reasonable attempt. It used to be considered palm up was a reasonable attempt as opposed to knocking it down. Now you have to get two hands on the ball. I think it was a genuine attempt and as such the law should be changed to be a penalty try but no yellow. Yellow is too harsh for that scenario but is technically correct.

@@Redt_123 Nonsense. It was a poor tackle, so poor that even after the 9 had hit the deck, DMac's shoulder was still in front of his arm. Under the current laws, if you tackle like that and gently brush the tip of the other guys nose, you get a red. We as couch critics know that, so surely the players do too.

Well the second half was a full chief teams. Reds in first half played again 13 for 10 and 14 for another 10. Only scored one try in second half to chiefs 5.

Best team, most respected players, Worst fans NZ hands down. The game started with 15 v 15, one got carded for being an idiot, there was no need at all for his shoulder charge. Well done reds on the win, and respect cheifs on a hard push, played 80 mins with all heart.

Yeah there is a massive inconsistency these days. Red card here (deserved), swinging arm to the head gets a yellow (should have been a red) and Sevu Reece can jump on a player who has already scored a try, hitting him in the head with his leg, and it is completely ignored.

Leading with the shoulder and impacting the head is always going to be a red card. It was the right decision and the only one who should be ashamed was DMac himself. He is better than that.

Finally! Happy that Reds won. Now I want to see the team do that without the opposition receiving a red card, not backtracking in the second half and in New Zealand. That way, no one comes up with excuses as to why the Australian team won.

Australia has big issues, they being dominated every game now even when playing against 14 men. This is a major concern as world rugby needs them to be competitive, they seem to lack identity and have no fight in them. They were never big and strong but were super smart and that made them competitive or even give them the edge.
I suggest AU Super Rugby teams be given a 1 man advantage for the rest of the Transtasman Tournament only in the first half 💁🏽♂️😂

Red card was harsh that early in a game and not even a full tackle.13 to 15men always going to give a team a lead.
You could see on Brad Thorne's face at the end that it didn't feel like a victory.
