Why is everyone complaining he didn't get all the babies he literally said hes going to come back late at night to make sure he got them all when they're actually out and active.
I was worried some stuck to the hide and ran off when he left it to the side 😅 also saw one in the dirt on the outside on enclosure but I believe he saw that. Besides he obviously he looked thoroughly for all babies 👍 people always need to complain about something though 💁💁 such cute babies!
@no tozog jesus it's been so long I dont even know why I'm replying but he did just before 9 mins. Please watch and listen to the video before commenting.
Indeed, scorpions have a negatively phototactic exoskeleton, some species glow brighter, some don't. Desert scorpions glow brighter as they're solitary arachnids constantly under sunlight and UV exposure. Baby scorpions don't have such fluorescent properties because they haven't developed the proteins that cause such phenomena.
what a christmas present man,iv been watching your videos for a long time ,i was never into tarantulas before and i plan buying my first one cause of you,you have definetely changed my mind about this whole hobby thanx buddy
They're so cute!! 😍😍😍 my ocd would of had me picking that whole enclosure apart piece by piece 😅👍 looks like momma dug down and made a little safe area for the babies in the clay rocks, maybe that's what they do in the wild?
Unfortunately I only have experience with Emperor scorpions so I can't help you there, however I will say at least hang on to a few babies for yourself, so you can keep her bloodline.
I have the same species of scorpion and she had babies maybe a month before yours did. First I messed up and put the babies in a big enclosure but they failed to hunt that way and did not eat for like a month, now they are in a much smaller container and eating like crazy. Funny thing is, I did not even now she was going to have babies and now I have 19 of them :D Good luck with yours, keep up the great content
You can keep it that way in that same enclosure for probably 7-8 months, some of mine are already 5i but their size is only about 5-6cm in length from mouth to tail tip. So that mom which is 13-14cm is probably over 10i.
As I understood it, it is going well. Just, Felix is very shy. So he doesn't really show himself much aside from basking. That is why Dark Den thought Despacito was more amusing as a pet to engage with. Because DEspacito isn't shy.
Used to have two large Emperor scorpions and they are very placid pets, they can get a bit stingy when smaller though lol. Although they are harmless and it’s only as bad as a bee sting although it does make you a little light headed lol. Great video. Especially love when they get under UV light and glow green
I got a heterometrus cyaneus 3 days ago. They Look awesome and they Are so interesting to watch. I keep mantis species, tarantulas, cockroaches and ants As well😄
Its crazy how long their gestation period is. I had a similar incident with my wild caught scorpion. She gave birth while I was working out of town about 10 months after I caught her. My wife called me freaking out lol Im glad you separated them. I learned the hard way that the mother will eat them if you do not :( I only ended up with 2 that survived.
If they have enough space they can stay together even for the rest of their lives I think. I'm keeping 2 H.petersii 3i (almost 4i) in an enclosure that is more than big enough for them, and it looks like they are doing perfectly fine together; they're sharing the same hide too!
When you counted 12 I died laughing love the babies keep up the good work 👍 btw would love more videos focused on the hamster but I know you got a lot of animals to focus on!
I literally shouted out loud "Oui Ye!" when the female came out of the enclosure. It freaked me out so bad haha and I own plenty T's that wouldn't have freaked me out so bad XD
I’ve never like spiders, scorpions... type bugs, but I’ve been watching you for a while and it has given me a new found respect for these little, and not so little guys. So I just want to say thank you for enlightening me with your knowledge. Lets not forget your funny antics as well. Your sir are a scholar and a gentleman.
I remember reading somewhere the baby scorpions can be the most painful/dangerous if stung by them because they don't yet know how to control their venom. Also, it is amazing how the mama scorpions dug up the clay balls and cut through the mesh. Very busy indeed. That would have been a cool time lapse video to see.
Yeah people will tell you that pretty much any infant creature with venom has a worse bite because they can't control their venom but this is a complete myth.
You should definitely check the drainage layer once more cause there were some of them hiding under the clayballs so they could easily be all over the place down there and it looks like you did not checked that out very accurate (from the looks of the video). But overall you got a sweet little army of baby scorps there :P
Several years ago i brought a "male" h.spinifer and had it or approx 18 months and it had 15 young, i kept 6 and traded the others for other scorpions. I made the decision to sell all my tarantulas and scorpions when my children were really young but i kept all my setups, the kids are older now and since i started watching your videos you've inspired me to start keeping inverts again. Awesome stuff, thanks for the inspiration
You could use some coarse foam mat instead of the clay balls as a drainage layer. I have that in my mourning gecko vivarium and it works great as a drainage that also looks quite nice when seen through the glass. And I assume that it wouldn’t be that easy for any animal to dig through such a mat. I used a 3cm thick black filter mat that can sometimes be bought in aquarium stores (if you look for things for „Mattenfilter“ you might be able to find these foam mats)
Yes the baby scorpions can sting and they're much more dangerous then the adults cuz they cannot regulate the amount of venom they pump out, hope u read this😊
Nice video! When my asian forest scorpion gave birth 6 years ago,I thought they would die,but they all made it till adulthood, they grow super slowly though and as they mature the tend to molt once very 1 year or even more. Keep them warm and moist and they will become very nice looking scorpions in 4-5 years, you then can sell them.
Really sad she passed away.. but I’m glad you kept one of her babies. I still think you should buy another adult one it’s so fun too watch videos with scorpions!
I dont know what is the sound in the background. Maybe crickets, maybe something else, but i just realized that, with the backgrounds, the "chill" atmosphere etc you look like in a jungle forest! You definitely need a parrot or a tucan, or some bird that makes the typical jungle forest because, my man, with the chameleon enclosure, it would fit 100%
After almost dying a few years ago in Phoenix AZ from a Bark Scorpion bite I am beyond terrified of scorpions now. Spent two weeks in the hospital because the anti-Venom shots interacted with my epilepsy meds and I went into a massive cluster seizure. My mother and my two young sons were coping having to let me go but I finally came out of it. Bad part was my memory was screwed for months. So now I'm living back in Maine away from those god damn scorpions...
Lived in Phoenix my whole life. Those bark scorpions are no joke. Just he glad it wasn't a death stalker. People were bringing them in from overseas and they've been finding them more and more in southern California and Arizona. Apparently people were cutting off the stingers and smoking them. I guess the neurotoxin will act as an intense hallucinogen. Which hospital were you in?
I had an Emperor Scorpion when I was a kid. Mean as hell! I had to let it beat up a pencil while I changed the water. I see people with nice scorpions and wonder how do you train a scorpion? I guess some just mellow out over time. Your mamma scorpion looked like she wanted a peice of you.
Been watching many videos and no one has shown a scorpion get down into the drainage layer. (Most do not use one) Planning on using a light defuser to create "no go" areas, like placing a complete piece above the screen .
Petko... i am curious how you would design an enclosure for an Orb Weaver. Would love to see you acquire one or catch the more common ones and see you house it. Love your channel
Hahaha - Petko - you have naughty scorpions, you are going to have to teach them some discipline...Lolol...Sorry I'm laughing so bad right now...Love your videos, please dont ever change, hugs ;-) P.s - the babies look super cute & I hope that the big momma forgives you.
Petko, mine are in 5th molt and I still have them together. Only thing I provide is enough space to shelter, but still they choose to be close to each other. I've seen some videos where they are kept together as adults.

Use a black light to see if you missed any.
Haha, watch it backfire ;-)
I don’t think they have developed enough to shine under the light... I might be completely wrong tho.
Baby scorpions don't glow under UV light
Won’t work cause the babies do not have the protein substance in their Hyaline layer, nor will it Fluoresce after a fresh molt.
