Glad I could be of help Hermanvick :) the clear coat can easily be dissolved with Varsol if you don't get the desired effect the first time, hope you like the results
@@zGJungle sounds good, should definitely reduce the sickness bigtime, use it inside and out if need be. If it dosent work out its soluble in Varsol , good luck
This might sound strange but is there a way of making bottles sick on purpose ? I mean like a way of making them sick faster ? I really like some.coloured bottles when they are fully sick.
@jsteelsadventureandvariety4545 I'm wondering if I left a bottle in a solution of lime, calcium and general muck if might take quicker? I found an aqua medicine bottle 2 days ago and it's got the most amazing iridescent finish that I would love to have on more bottles.
Hot damn! That worked quite well! I'd say for common bottles that's a great trick! I just don't think I'd put in on any of the rare ones lol! Nice job J, that's 100% something I'd never have thought of to get rid of sickness!
the clear coat is soluble in varsol so this is not a permanent thing☺ but glad you enjoyed, if you give it a try sometime, let me know how it turned out👍
I showed an example of a super sick bottle right in the video wolfdog, the old brown whisky bottle?? maybe go back and take a peek? let me know what you think
Bottle sickness I thought when u drink to much from the booze bottle 😀 Great tip for cleaning we always trying different stuff to clean are bottles we find. 👍🐅😎
Hey J , that works pretty good, those bottles look way better. Heading to the cabin in less than 2 weeks , will start doing some bottle digging again so will have to give it a try. All the best and take care.👍👍
Nice job!👍 Yep, two choices in curing bottle sickness is either removing glass through tumbling and polishing or adding a clearcoat. Your method is more accessible as tumbling is expensive and best left for more valuable bottles. Many people mistake bottle sickness as a deposit but is actually etching where a micro amount of the surface has actually dissolved away.
interesting, did not know that, I figured it would consist of mostly calcium...but i shure dont have time to tumble so this is the lazy mans way☺ thanks for watching, and have to catch up on your content, been a busy dude...
I hear ya and no worries! I’ve stopped trying to catch up on everyone’s content. Got to just get to what you can when you can. I’ve looked into tumbling and it gets crazy expensive with all the equipment and supplies needed. I think it would be worth it if you did it for others and charged a fee or you have a good supply of nice bottles that you’re selling. Or you could be sitting on a bunch of cash and don’t know what to do with it. I’ll have to try this on some of my old slicks that are very sickly. Would be great to have them looking shiny clear!
a friend mentioned the same plan, restore bottle business, but too busy workin in hospital/treasure hunting and art works to pull that off lol would be a cool side gig though👍
Hey i've seen you comment on Kevin's channel maybe others, didn't know you had one. I subbed. This is a great idea and if it peals or turns color you can always use stripper or acetone and do it again! ✌👽
@@jsteelsadventureandvariety yeah being a cabinet maker for years It crossed my mind but never did it. All the lacquer and poly i sprayed on cabinets and furniture restoration. makes sense because the sick glass is porous and gives it a foot to stick. 👍

Once the acrylic is well dried cured, I would not see it causing much harm as the product it is water based. If you were consuming the plants I would not reccomended this :) thank you very much for commenting
If you left it in direct sunlight for years and years maybe, but product has a uv resistant agent to retard this process.
