If the Govinda genre is cringe-worthy then all of MI series is crass ! Govinda was the true mass "hero" of his time. He defined a genre that no one has been able to replicate in Bollywood.

Karishma only actress with 17 back to back hits, was one of the greatest dancers, a style icon, blue eyed beauty and a talented actress that gave 3 phenomenal performances, still not seen even today, after she was allowed to get better films. Only actress who had to fight ongoing sabotage of her career by not being allowed to get the good films worthy of her talent because the patriarchs in her own family did not allow it because they did want her to be there until it became too embarrassing for them to continue because she did not quit like they wanted her to..........She has so many great songs and dancing even with Govinda but she’s marginalized on this channel, they promote the overrated only.

Not cringe at all. Karishma Kapoor was phenomenal at this time of her career. She stole the limelight in front of any actor that she was paired with. And I loved this somh so much back in the days.
Karishma's costumes were all fabulous and in so much contrast with the kind of sindhi lingo song. There was no naughty lyrics. The word "Potti" that you may have catcher actually means - Girl.

In the 90s, when pretty much the whole country was working their asses off to make a decent living , Govinda movies provided a means of escapism. Hilarious movies , amazing songs.
True that, even now whenever any typical Govinda movie is being played at any TV channel, I always keep it running in background while doing my chores. They're a great escape (except some parts of extreme harrasment, stalking,etc which was considered enter in those days)

I completely agree to this statement and am happy you pointed this out. This is pure pure fun and they are emulating the Hyderabadi language style in this song hence lyrics sound a bit different and extended talks also. That is an aspect of Hyderabadi slangs and mannerisms which is humourous for most here hence this song achieved a cult status almost. Fun fact was it was never marketed when movie was about to release. All otger songs were whoch became superhits instantly which all you have reacted anyways. This became a hit after people saw it in the movie.

It bothers my mind when someone disrespects things which have been liked by millions and have been successful. Just say not of your type or liking. Choose language correctly on a public platform. Brought back so many memories!! Karishma's outfits are gold..still love the late 90s/ early 2000s fashions where there people didn't try so hard to look "trendy" or "sexy" but there was so much variety to suit anyone's personal taste! Nowadays it's all about creating a "look" but everyone just looks almost the same 😑
Change your opinion about Govinda.. He was the one who bring comedy into mainstream cinema. Before him comedy was filler only and nowadays it turns the same like before as their is no proper comedy movie delivered these days.

He is described as complete entertainer or entertainer no.1 , who can make you laugh and he can make you cry too with his awesome acting talent. And no one literally no one can match his comedy timing .. specially with kader khan and Johny lever or Shakti Kapoor. And above all his highly expressive dance moves( you need translation , if you know the lyrics you won't call any of his dance moves cringe or cheese ..he dance according to lyrics( each and every word is expressed in his dance moves that's why he is dancing legend). So for next time if you don't have translation please don't react as neither you enjoy the song as well as you guys hurt many by your words cause Govinda is nostalgia.

Yes 100% correct..... That could be seen everywhere... Even in AR Rehman music... His music before he got the Academy award and after it. After 2007-08 it has all been western style just to impress western people... Bcz they cannot relate to something like "Mitwa", " O Palan Hare " , "Kare Megha" from Lagaan...... Jai Ho was just an ordinary composition... Rehman has 1000 songs which 100 times better than Jai but he is creating shit music just for another Award.

This is actually a very amusing song given the time and era. Songs like these were made to appeal to, well, people with simple tastes and almost always intended to became popular banter for young people to endlessly quote.
They were very self-aware and knew they weren’t making high art. Just goofy stuff with clever wordplay that’s impossible to translate well.

But since these aren't very good songs, they aren't popular and many haven't seen them. Even 'Dil mera hai deewana aiyo aiyo' is also good one with great energy from both Govinda and Karishma

It’s not really cringe lol, this was just the funky style at that time in the 90s with many Bollywood movies - funky and corny, and that’s what was considered to be its own “cool” lol 😂 like if a guy broke out dancing to that song at that time, no one would find him weird but they would applaud him LOL 😂 of course they would laugh now because music and everything has evolved since then.
