I drove from Seattle to Chotau, Montana to see Tom Russell and his band at the rodeo arena the night before the 4th of July in 2007. I've seen him 2 more times at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle. He' a brilliant writer, his songs are little novels and make great videos.
Have always tried to include Tom concerts in my travels - California (Ojai, McCabe's. etc) Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Buctouche New Brunswick, Nova Scotia (Canso, Berwick and Halifax) and have never, ever been disappointed. Sure miss those live concerts.
I don't think Russell means to imply that these are the only jobs that immigrants from Mexico can do. I think he's saying that a lot of people who pretend to be horrified by illegal immigration are profiting from it even as they make rousing speeches about its evils.

Grandma Cookie bravo. 3 true American musical treasures, willing to turn the light upon their own country’s past. That’s a true patriot. Someone who stands in line and cheers the usual patriotic robotic cheers, are the cheers of people who deserve neither liberty or democracy. 96 million out of work? Not very good at math...are you? Or just gullible. There are about 190 million Americans between 18 and 65. 96 million out of work would mean about half of American worker are unemployed. Take your lies someplace else.
A Tom Russell classic . What a great song !
Wow, was he ever ahead of the curve on this one. When I first heard it, I thought he wrote it after Trump got in. Tom Russell is absolutely awesome!
Love this song. Beautiful policital statement! I'm Canadian and played in a Texas bar last year to a largely Hispanic audience who had mot heard it.
interesting, how did they react?

Tom Russel should go move to the country where he will feel more at home and leave the U.S.
I hear Switzerland is lovely.
