We kick off our Tuscan road trip by visiting the capital of Tuscany, Florence. We start the day the Italian way and take in the beautiful, yet busy city. We head off into nature and find a campsite amongst a vineyard, all to ourselves. However when we get there we experience a couple of van life mishaps, a broken fridge and we run out of gas! The next day we head to a cafe to have our morning coffee and we start Tuscany's best hike on all trails, Colle Val d'Elsa - Cascata del Diborrato - San Marziale. Tom's bottle floats away and we move on to Monteriggioni, a beautiful medieval town, where one beer sends Iz a bit bonkers. We find a wild camping spot amongst vineyards and watch the storms from the comfort of La Bamba. We pop into Siena on day 3 as we take some of the most incredible and stereotypical drives in Tuscany. We finish the day at a campsite where you can order pizza straight to the campsite! On our final day on this roadtrip we walk to the Cascata del Molino, Saturnia, the famous hot springs here at 6 in the morning so we have the place to ourselves. It was amazing, 37 degrees warm water from natural suphurous water. We are in such a good mood and head to our final destination to see what Tuscany's coastline has to offer.

Off season is key. I really liked Sienna. The interior of its duomo is still fully “furnished.” I loved the priests reading the newspapers while waiting to take confession.

Cut the fridge plug off and separate the wires. Put them directly into your leisure battery (via a suitable fuse). Easy peasy!
12 volt electric work is easy, put a fuse and a switch in would not be that hard.
Iz has so much energy that looking at you makes me want to resume and go on a journey around Europe. I intend to visit Vienna again. I have been to various European countries, but Vienna has its own atmosphere that draws me in this direction.

30 April 2023: This is the newest video I have gotten to watching your adventures. The Duomo is spectacular. As a Catholic I so wish to visit Italy. My husband was station for 2 years there. I did get some gorgeous paintings. I have a painting of the bridge Ponte Vecchio. My husband I am s,ure was pleased I was not there for the shopping. As a young couple I am always so impressed by your incredible respect for where you are in your attire and so courteous to everyone.

we visited Florence this year (by air). We did get in to see 'the David'. Very busy. The whole city was full of tourists end September 2023. We will be in Tuscany with the camper van this year though we have a dog so not likely that we will go in to Florence.

Give you a tip, red wine oxidises very fast and turns into acidic acid, one method is to keep it from oxygen, take a DEEP breath, hold it, then breath out into the bottle and it will replace the oxygen with heavier carbon dioxide, which will displace the oxygen, obvious you might have to do it more than once if you are on the move shaking it about. You see I didn't have a totally misspent youth.
