Yes it's real. But he had a safety harness on in case he fell, it was removed in editing of the video

I must say, this is fantastic.. Unlike Van Damme's stunt this had a lot of instability in the fact that they were scooters instead of an advanced drive system, not to mention the kind of work and athleticism required to be able to do that split. Impressive.
But van dammes was more epic because of the landscape and the massive golden trucks..
if you do it on the trucks , it need balls .
But Van Damme’s stunt the truck was drive in reverse though

Haha this would've been so much harder than Van Damme's split. And I'm not being sarcastic!
If you can split, it is not hard to do that in scooters/motorcycles and you don't have to worry about falling because it is not high ground. You can do it as many times as you want. If JCVD uses harness, then that equals the difficulty but still JCVD is way harder because he splits fully extended this guy doesn't.

Not a Perfect split but more EPIC than Jean Claude. Light Drizzle, damp seats, Semi Professionals, Wobbly scooters That took a load of guts well dipped in insanity! "A pair of legs thats are about to split at the Groin and cause tremendous discomfort.....ha ha ha ha ha! I thought those jeans were going to 'split ' at the Groin! Too good!
