My original inspiration for sand art was born when I visited the Rose city of Petra in Jordan with its multi-colored sand mountains, visitors would take home the sand bottle souvenirs with geometrical and landscape designs and unique decorations using different layers of colour sand.
The origin of sand art is unknown, but there is evidence that it may have begun in 18th century throughout the world in different locations such as Iowa, USA, Alum bay in Uk and Petra the Rose City in the south of Jordan.
I was introduced to this art in 1992, the old Roman city of Jerash in the north of Jordan by one of my closest friends who taught me basic designs such as camels and layering different colours of sand.
This is where my passion for the art bloomed and I spent countless hours dedicated to creating more detailed, artistic designs with far greater depth and colour contrast. I replaced the traditional jars with handmade blow glass bottles.
The huge popularity of my work allowed me to open my first shop next to the Dead Sea. I later opened a gallery in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt at the age of 18 years old, between 1994 to 1999. My success continued to 2007 and I was able to participate in many exhibitions around the world in locations such as:
- Susah, Tunisia
- Marmaris, Turkey
- Zurich, Switzerland
- Rome, Italy
- Torquay, UK
During this time, I grew my skill and started making very complicated abstract, cubism, pointillism, landscape and cartoon characters as well as many other designs. I use a multi layering technique with different colours of sand to create incredible bespoke designs, all without glue.
In late 2007 my art gallery was put on hold due to family reasons, but in 2020 when the covid-19 locked happened, I decided to build a brand-new art studio and I’m back to doing what I love.
During my travels around the world introducing this art, I have been continuously challenged. I adapted to new environments which further inspired me to be much more creative than any of my competitors and I took the craft to a new level.
I am able to create fully bespoke and unique sand art designs specifically to meet your request. Ideal for special moments in someone’s life such as weddings and anniversaries. Show someone how much you love them with a completely unique gift that has their name written in sand, along with a beautiful design of your request. Anything is possible, and I love a new challenge! We also offer different containers such as, bottles, picture frames and larger tanks.
No design is too big or too small and I am even able to create a full wall design by request.
