Nah homie, my s3 Frontier updated a few months ago and it definitely has the AOD and is definitely faster than launch. It's actually just as fast as my Galaxy Watch 3 titanium. I'm using it mainly for the MST functionality

To be honest, I still love the Galaxy S3 frontier because of the rugged look and it's still doesn't let me down as far as the use I need.. I just wish that they would bring back the rugged look With the same battle as the frontier on the new Samsung watch. The look to me is it's very important for the kind of job I do. I have a rugged job so I need a rugged looking phone.. Just looks more military. Just my honest opinion. Am I wrong?
I've had my Gear S3 Classic for five years and it's still going strong apart from the battery life. If I can replace the worn-out battery I'll keep it for a few more years.
I replaced my battery a year ago. Tbh it is so straightforward battery life before swap was about 10-12 hours with tons of software glitching. Post swap even a year after I can get 2.5-3 days per charge and it's just as responsive as day 1 Gear s3 frontier btw.
Galaxy watch 3 actually has 8 gb of storage,I still have the titanium edition which weights 43grams without the strap,I also have the Gw4 classic,44mm Gw4 and the Gw5 pro
Having a great experience using the Watch 5 44mm coming from 3. Also went from Wi-Fi to LTE version and don't actually miss the rotating bezel. Great video CJ and looking forward to finding out your outcome with the Z Flip 4 which I'm using right now.
I'm not much of a work out person but u am interested in galaxy smart watch. I ordered the 5 pro for $319.99 discounted using deal from getting s23 ultra. Just wondering if it's worth it as far as between the 5 and 4 classic
For me personally after having the 5 pro for a little under a week. The ONLY benefit over the 4 classic is better battery. I returned it, and exchanged it for a 4 classic and saved myself $400. The better battery doesn't make up for the rotating bezel in my opinion.

I would like to make corrections. The S3 Frontier is the Gear S3 Frontier, not the Galaxy S3 Frontier. Also, it's not a combination of Tizen and WearOS for the newer watches, but rather Google started to let companies put their own skin over WearOS and Samsung put OneUI on it.

I feel like removing the rotating bezel would be similar to removing the S Pen on the Note series or S22 ultra from a design point. I absolutely will not get the 5 pro because of it. To each they're own I guess.
The S3 frontier was their best watch in my opinion. I'm buying the 6 classic now but I really do wish they came out with a frontier option as well. I liked and needed the more rugged design. Unfortunately they become less water resistant over time, and my frontier met its end in a pool, or id still be usuit to this day.
Upgraded from the Frontier to the Galaxy Watch in 2019..moving on to the Watch Pro5 shortly. Still keeping my GW Bluetooth, getting 3 days on a Full charge easy, I don't do AOD.. Appreciate the video and the look back..

S3 Frontier definitely has the Always On Display. And as far as looks go, it makes the 5's look like toys you'd find in a cereal box in comparison. Ditching the bezel and metal case was a big mistake in my opinion. The 4's are just about perfection.
Finally found a video to compare my S3 frontier to the new one.. I wanna buy the watch 6 classic but the "47mm" scare me it look soooo much bigger than my S3 Frontier can't wait for the comparison!!!
My gear S3 classic may have just died (its at a repair shop seeing if its worth fixing or letting her go) so im looking into a possible replacement and stumbled across this video. I would recommend putting pricing for the products on these videos at the time of recording, as you were saying there isnt a big difference between the watch 3 and 4. But pricing around here is around double, which could easily sway these recommendations. Other than that i enjoyed seeing all these generations in a single video.

Yup, I love my watch 3 and the rotating bezel. Battery life still better than that of the latest apple watch to this day. Not going to upgrade to the 5 when it will feel like a downgrade.

My first smart watch was a Galaxy S2 which failed on me twice, so I reached out to a friend of mine who works in Samsung corporate and he got me a free replacement S3 frontier. I've been using it since, worked great for a few months, then Samsung pushed a few truly terrible updates out to it that made it so laggy it was practically unusable, and they made it impossible to roll back the software. By the time they pushed out updates to fix it, the hardware was starting to sure show it's age so there wasn't much improvement... I've been dealing with the laggy performance for years but I'm losing my patience especially since it started losing my heart rate during majority of my workouts. I'm considering upgrading to a 5 pro, but I'll miss the rotating bezel, and I'm worried about ending up in the same boat performance wise if they push out credit OTA updates again. How has the performance been on the 5 pro as far as responsiveness and heart rate tracking?
I've got the S3, Galaxy Watch, and Sport; but does anyone remember the moto 360 or LG Urbane? I've got those too but they're no longer working 😢 only my Galaxys are still working, hate the Sport...S3 and Galaxy Watch is where it's at. Bezel ❤
@CJ Unplugged or whoever, I need some help I have just upgraded from the OG Samsung Watch to the Watch 5 Pro with LTE! I love it! What an upgrade, thank you for this video. What I would like to know is does any of your Watch 5 Pro have this issue where when you are on an active phone call, the watch will alert you silently. I may vibrate but it never alerts me when another call is coming in or never makes a noise, like reception of a text message. Let me be clear, no issues when I am not on a call but when I am, it does not make any noise to alert me of any notifications until I'm off the phone. Again, can anyone answer is the an new OS oversight as my OG Watch notified me no matter what. Thank you for your help and reading.
I have the S3 Frontier and it has the Always On Display. As far as weight. I don't notice the weight. But it's large. I bang it on walls and stuff all the time
Not ideal to leave products on chargers but nowadays technology have smart chips for charging but I’m not 100% on the watch 5 pro and I typically don’t overcharge my devices
Li-on battery does not like to be charged to 100% and kept that state for time. Best is to charge it 20-80% for long life time, but of course we charge our small watch batteries to 100% and start using it asap.
Still sporting the OG Galaxy Watch and have to say that I'm disappointed with Samsung. You can't go with a large battery in the OG to just make it smaller with newer versions of the galaxy watch! My OG Galaxy watch should not be beating out a Galaxy Watch 5 44mm in battery life. Then to boot, Samsung took away features from the OG like O2 Oxygen readings and other features to force people into buying these "new" watches that offer things that the old OG had. Oh well.. just a rant. Overall, your video was great and honestly justified my reasons for not purchasing a newer version of the galaxy watch. If Samsung can make a non-pro watch with better battery life than my OG watch... then I'll sink my hard-earned cash into getting it. For now... OG for me all the way.

I have the original galaxy watch i only use it for notfications and the odd call if im driving my non bluetooth car. I can lrobnaly hang on to it for a few more yesrs
you are mistaken. Battery capacity is measured exactly in mAh. Say we have 100 mAh. We can drink it within one hour if we use 100 mA current or 2hs if we dring 50 mA... And so on... So if you have 370 mAh battery and it last for 2 days, we dring 7,7 mA per each hour...

They just killed my frontier 3 on vacation I did the software update and turned my watch to a brick I can't cut it on I can only watch it charge.. 😅

Why did you skip the Active and the Active2? Both are still great options. Pro tip-The LTE model usually has 50% more RAM.

No because older models have Tizen OS and newer models from Watch 4 Classic and on have Android wear OS which has more apps

s3 does have aod on its final firmware scabby compared to modern versions but there.

I've got the S3, Galaxy Watch, and Sport; but does anyone remember the moto 360 or LG Urbane? I've got those too but they're no longer working 😢 only my Galaxys are still working, hate the Sport...S3 and Galaxy Watch is where it's at. Bezel ❤

I have just upgraded from the OG Samsung Watch to the Watch 5 Pro with LTE! I love it! What an upgrade, thank you for this video. What I would like to know is does any of your Watch 5 Pro have this issue where when you are on an active phone call, the watch will alert you silently. I may vibrate but it never alerts me when another call is coming in or never makes a noise, like reception of a text message. Let me be clear, no issues when I am not on a call but when I am, it does not make any noise to alert me of any notifications until I'm off the phone. Again, can anyone answer is the an new OS oversight as my OG Watch notified me no matter what. Thank you for your help and reading.
As far as classic look and customization, the GEAR S3 FRONTIER is the best imho.
I have the S3 Frontier and it has the Always On Display. As far as weight. I don't notice the weight. But it's large. I bang it on walls and stuff all the time

Not ideal to leave products on chargers but nowadays technology have smart chips for charging but I’m not 100% on the watch 5 pro and I typically don’t overcharge my devices

Li-on battery does not like to be charged to 100% and kept that state for time. Best is to charge it 20-80% for long life time, but of course we charge our small watch batteries to 100% and start using it asap.
Great review loved it. Do you know if the lte version got better or the same on the 5pro vs the 3 lte version? Is the 5 pro 5G?
Still sporting the OG Galaxy Watch and have to say that I'm disappointed with Samsung. You can't go with a large battery in the OG to just make it smaller with newer versions of the galaxy watch! My OG Galaxy watch should not be beating out a Galaxy Watch 5 44mm in battery life. Then to boot, Samsung took away features from the OG like O2 Oxygen readings and other features to force people into buying these "new" watches that offer things that the old OG had. Oh well.. just a rant.
Overall, your video was great and honestly justified my reasons for not purchasing a newer version of the galaxy watch. If Samsung can make a non-pro watch with better battery life than my OG watch... then I'll sink my hard-earned cash into getting it. For now... OG for me all the way.
I'm keeping my Gear S3 Frontier that I got 2yrs ago Refurbished from Amazon.
It still last 2 days & I wear it while saltwater fishing in the rain & extremely hot days here on the TX Coast.
I just got the Watch 4 Classic & it wouldn't last a day on a single charge.
So I just traded it for the Watch 5 Pro Titanium WiFi vers. For $130! Holiday sales Baby!

Frankly with the 4 classic's abysmal battery life, I think there's a solid consideration for upgrading to the 5 pro.
I have the original galaxy watch i only use it for notfications and the odd call if im driving my non bluetooth car. I can lrobnaly hang on to it for a few more yesrs

you are mistaken. Battery capacity is measured exactly in mAh. Say we have 100 mAh. We can drink it within one hour if we use 100 mA current or 2hs if we dring 50 mA... And so on... So if you have 370 mAh battery and it last for 2 days, we dring 7,7 mA per each hour...
@@Chris.Mechanic Classic Dunning-Kruger. Educate yourself. At what voltage is that current drawn? Lithium batteries are normally at 3.7V, silicon chips work at around 1.1V. Don't spread misinformation.
