Join Doo and I as we show you how to "Primitively" make a PVC Bow (That almost sounds contradictory.. LOL!) This is part 1 of a 2 part video. www.bushcrafton... / bushcraftonfire
Way cool man. Can't wait to make one of these. Much faster than waiting for my self bow to season. I've been itching to get working on my self bow but I can't rush it. This type of bow is nearly instant gratification. I wait in anticipation for part 2. -Krik
You certainly can make a recurve... In fact, with the PVC you can do about anything you like! Check out Backyard Boyer's channel.. he makes all sorts of bows (which is how I found this idea)
1st bow we did was Schedule 40 1 1/4". A 5 foot bow with a brace height of about 6" has 110# pull. I don't know how much more powerful you would like it.. but that's all I can do to pull that one :)
Our last video showed us shooting the one that was made of 3/4" PVC.. They shoot really nicely, although the 3/4" is only about 30-35 pounds.. this one should be more in the range of 60# I hope
You wouldn't want to use a heat gun inside anyway.. the PVC can give off fumes that are unhealthy if inhaled. Doesn't seem to happen with the coals.. but I suppose it could.A dryer would never get the PVC hot enough to melt I don't think. Sorry it won't work for you right now.. but we appreciate your support
No Bro.. we appreciate you.. and I might have been a little perturbed.. sorry.. I get a TON of spam daily.. and when something keeps going on it kind of bugs me (when it's a moot point to begin with). Sorry for being a little gruff.. Thanks for your continued support. Many Blessings & Stay Strong!
LOL.. The 1 1/4" is about 100 pounds at 27" We are going to try to finish this one tomorrow.. The weather has finally broken.. so we should be able to get it up. We're hoping it will pull at about #60
Hey man once again great video cant wait for part two. Hey also ive started my own survival school here in georgia. Check out the wiki i built on my channel an tell me what you think. Ps where are you guys located?
Actually, no I don't have a heat gun...unfortunately. Best I could do at the moment is a very 'low watt' hair dryer. Anything else blows the circuit breaker. :) I'm in an apartment. LOL Soooo, I don't have real space to work, not to mention the authority to have an electrician come in to make any changes. :D I guess that's the breaks. But I love watching you and Doo creating. That in itself gives me hope that someday I'll have my own place, then come back in here and follow those instructions.
Ummmm... Did you watch the video apoposy? I ALWAYS credit others.. and I DID credit BB and even told someone here how to find his channel. Look somewhere about when I was making the handhold on the video
And for the record.. while I DID learn about PVC bows from him... and while I think he is the best at his trade.. He doesn't do his bows like this..so this is my technique.. I have never seen anyone else do it over coals or a fire anywhere (someone might have.. I have just never seen it.
I work with pvc too and you are missing one item...that is a spray bottle of moderate cool water. When you get your shape, you spray it with the water to harden it faster ,,,,,, it works like a champ
I'm still not sure what the deal is here.. I gave the man credit on the video.. and here on the comments.. and I think he is highly skilled.. so what is the point here?
your comment is irrelevant, he clearly states where he learned this from and gives the guy credit. Maybe you were expecting Dave to announce it with a bullhorn and a billboard sign?
OMG, Laugh! I didn't think it was going to be that powerful. I thought you said in the video somewhere, that one of the bows that you made was only 35#, and that this one you were hoping for 50-60#? So I take it that the 1 1/4" was a little too much?!!! LOL! So if that is the case, what then is the "just right" recipe for that #50-60 range?
Did you know that when you give a website address that you can skip all the h t t p and w w w crap and just say the website itself? None of that stuff has ever been necessary in a web address and sounds ridiculous.
The heat source certainly is NOT irrelevant! Great Work David!
Love it Dave. I was looking at bows right now. Seen some of these movies have been more complex. But yours was very clear and done well.

Looking good - look forward to part 2!
Very good job my friends, accurate work as usual, ...Nice project. Have a great week, Sepp
Excellent instructions there, Dave! I only wish I had the property to try that. :) Thanks so much for sharing this great information. Blessings to ya.
We are in Missouri.. Your channel is looking good!
very creative guys, can't wait for part two. i made one but not like that one.. nice looking too.
..bill
If you would like I suppose you can.. but I think making it offset would strengthen that area of the bow some.
Excellent idea for material. I'll have to try it myself..Thanks for sharing..

Another great video thanks for sharing looking foreword to part 2

Dave, would using schedule 80 rather than the thinner schedule 40 increase the bow's strength, or is that too much and unnecessary?
Thanks, Dave. Will always be here. :) Be blessed my friend.

great step by step !! and nice to mention back yard !!
LOL.. Be patient.. we're under a big rainstorm/snow .. Hopefully we can finish it up tomorrow
Can't put links here.. but Nick's YT Name is "BackyardBowyer". Just put it in your UA-cam Search bar.
Does he have to?Do you give credit when you hunt or fish to the first to do it?
you're a genius what a good way to flatten the PVC to a taper. You rock
LOL.. Thanks for the video response Ashley.. very funny!

We did it on our back porch.. I'm sure you could do it in your living room if you had a heat gun!
Great video, many thanks for sharing, I think I will give this a try!
im planning on making several of the pvc bows myself, but will be making regular self bows myself..
LOL.. The 1 1/4" is about 100 pounds at 27" We are going to try to finish this one tomorrow.. The weather has finally broken.. so we should be able to get it up. We're hoping it will pull at about #60
Can't wait to try this one, Thanks.
Could you mold the PVC into a double recurve before it cools ?

Couldn't make it today because of the weather.. hopefully tomorrow
Can u share a link to his channel
Wheres' part two?
I can't find it!
Swiss.. I think the spacers were 1" or so? Didnt really measure them.. it's not an exact thing for us..
???? Not sure what you mean..
Abs will break in freezing temps. i work with this stuff and ive seen it break and when it does it almost explodes and splinters.
WOW, hard to believe there are so many people that want to be a pain. I was wondering, about what draw wieght is the bow?
I work with pvc too and you are missing one item...that is a spray bottle of moderate cool water. When you get your shape, you spray it with the water to harden it faster ,,,,,, it works like a champ
This can/ will weaken the plastics
tubefed420 ...not sure where your info comes from..but I have found no difference in the hardness
I'm still not sure what the deal is here.. I gave the man credit on the video.. and here on the comments.. and I think he is highly skilled.. so what is the point here?
nice bow Dave and Doo.
I want to see how it shoots I just so happen to have some PVC that I'm ready to heat!
Good video
Again.. I didn't EVER say it was MY technique.. chill dude.. and please stop spamming the channel.. this is a moot conversation
your comment is irrelevant, he clearly states where he learned this from and gives the guy credit. Maybe you were expecting Dave to announce it with a bullhorn and a billboard sign?
congratulations, Now I hope the two video. by

Bend a small recurve in it, while you're at it ;-)
