- In this tutorial, FOH engineer Zito (OneRepublic, Backstreet Boys, Babyface) explains how he shapes the transients of live kick and snare drums using the Waves Trans-X and API 2500 plugins.
Trans-X: www.waves.com/plugins/transx?u...
API 2500: www.waves.com/plugins/api-2500...
Excellent video shows how to sculpt transients, compression, and in the context of the mix. Head, heart and gut in a safe listener level. Well done teaching them to feel the mix but not get harmed by the music. The mix masters will be very pleased with you. I E-mailed you about!
This is one of the best plugins ever created
There is an all-analogue rack box from SPL called transient designer which has been very popular since it was released.
It's actually good👌
Thanks so much. Great video
it would have been nice to hear a level matched A/B of transx. first thing i hear is that the transx version sounds way louder. not a good comparison for me personally.
BUT LOUDER IS BETTER DUHHH
LoI keep finding you on all these plugin and iem videos
Intermediate here. I listened to the under snare A/B a thousand times. Looped it over and over. Watched it in my DAW. Zoomed way in. Analyzed it. Looked at levels. Listened to individual frequency bands. I could NOT hear or see a freaking difference and it's driving me crazy. I know what transient processors do and what adjustments should sound like, and I heard nothing. It's maddening!
You probably have rubbish speakers. Lots of poor quality speakers have minimal transient response.
the overtone on the top mic of the snare is a lil distracting, but overall very helpful. Do you find effecting the transients this much effects how susceptible you are to feedback?
Where can I listen to the full version of this track from the video?
It's just me or when he is showing the API compression changes the snare sounds like high-ends only?
Then when "in context" the snare sounds a lot better.
Well, it seems that there's no good video tutorial about Waves Trans-X.
All I've got was a couple of "look how it's good" videos...
This is the best one, so far. So far from a real tutorial...
On a Serious note: Zito/Waves, thanks for this - BUT for us learners without your experience, can you A/B with equal time (seconds) spent on both in and out, and importantly with the SAME pattern looped.
It is FAR too hard to hear a difference when you turn on/off something that is quite subtle at the exact time a pattern changes or a fill happens - there is no way our ears can adjust that fast. Remember you know this material inside out, we don't. This happened here quite a lot. I also noticed the volume differences. Not being an arse - just not as experienced as you.
Totally agree.
A comparison must be bananas with bananas, apples with apples.
And it seems they really don't care...
Please, tell me where I can download this song?
r bass after trans x?
Live Kick?
Right xD!
Go 6 minutes in to actually hear it
1080p and still cant read that waves plugin lol
all those lazy kids whining here about how he does not explain the plugin. go open it and sart to tweak u will understand in 90 seconds
I use this plugin of waves it's cool on kick but i m not satisfied with this tutorial its not enough to understand I m disappointed by the guy in video
Too funny. I thought it was me who could barely hear a difference. Need to over exaggerate for us learners
Shaping fake kick drum transients. There, I fix the title for you.
terrible music example to listen to
