    Hi Eddie,
    Thank you for showing us your procedure and the inside of the keyboard. I took mine apart to add felt to cut down on key noise.
    What I noticed is that the gray-rubber key contacts are different heights - slightly higher for the black keys. Perhaps your gray-rubber contacts were replaced backwards or out of order, raising the whites (as well as the blacks, since it's all connected), which gave you the key misalignment? Something you could check, but I thought I'd pass that along to you. All the best!

      Yes thank you. The video shows that is wasn’t aligned however it is haha. It’s been working great. Knock on wood. The only difference is that the new replacement keys are a little different in color. Barely noticeable. But it works!

    Too bad they skimped so badly on the keybed…have you considered maybe adding thicker felt to replace the existing one to absorb the keys noisily bottoming out? I’m torn between paying the premium for a Montage or getting a MODX for this specific reason

    • @edwardgarrido6628
      @edwardgarrido6628 3 роки тому +3

      I wish the Keynes was better however, I don’t really mind it. The reason why I went with the MODX instead of the Montage is the weight. I don’t want to carry a heavy keyboard also, I don’t need the sampler a can sample with something else and than import. I play lots of one nighters and I want my setup to be as lite as possible.

    Thank you very much for showing the inside of the keybed. This looks extremely fragile + plasticky to me. I will never buy such bord.

    • @edgaba
      @edgaba  Рік тому

      Well… yes for sure is more fragile but also the positive is that is very lite at less than 15 pounds and half the price of the Montage. The keyboard actually is sturdy and the Key bed is not bad. I’m happy with it.

    would you share the vender for parts and service? my modx has some dead keys from normal use ? cheap compared to the older units like the motiffs

      I used syntaur.com/yamaha_modx.html sometimes and if I need something else I also make a google search for the parts. You may find fully working used parts that are less expensive. It sounds like you may need to replace the contact strip. Which is about $12 each strip covers an octave. I hope this helps.

      You are correct, the only advantage of the MODX is the weight. It’s so lite it’s great for one nighters.

    Few months ago..On my way home from my gig...I was carrying my Modx6 on a custom gig bag...and the zipper was misaligned..so the keyboard fell while i was on my bike.....Luckily,no interior damage whatsoever...But on the right corner of keyboard,the plastic that was holding the keyboard case on the inside seems to be broken.....Any tips??

    Do you have to remove all of the screws on the bottom of the keyboard to get it apart?

    • @edgaba
      @edgaba  3 роки тому

      I do t remember however, you could try just removing the edges first see if you can remove the top. Just keep track off all the screws you remove, if they are different sizes mark where they go. You could also take a video of how you open it so you. An close it by watching it and be careful when you open so that you do t pull any chords. It’s pretty straightforward forward, if you can fix or build a computer you can do this no problem.

    • @petermoss5341
      @petermoss5341 3 роки тому

      @@edgaba Thanks, you do have to remove all of them, the front row under the keys is the row that has the shorter ones.

    this is a great gigging keyboard, but now after 3-4 years of use my top octave has become paralyzed? the keys wont budge and if you apply enough force they get stuck down and the note plays but the key stays pressed in.
    seeing your video i see now that it is a "region" of the keybed that maybe is misaligned? do you have any advice should i just take it apart and take a look? what should i be looking for?
    anyways, thank you for a great video!

    • @edgaba
      @edgaba  Рік тому

      I would try to carefully take it apart and clean everything also if you don’t have issues with notes being louder than others just put it together again, maybe even replace the keys of that octave. I had to replace mine cause I left it in a restaurant en someone dropped it on the floor and it landed on the edge of the stage breaking the keys.

    These things are junk. I play professionally. I just sent my MODX8 in for warranty repair of broken key. Got it back and the same key broke within a day,. Garbage. Not for pros.

      You are right. They can be delicate. I was use to the MOTIF however it became heavy (I have a bad back) this I have to baby and be very careful. They are so lite that someone stumble into it and it fell from the stands; breaking the keys and the board. I was able to fix it my self but I have to baby it. It does the job locally but I don’t travel, on the road, on a tour it would probably break easily.

      Sounds like it wasn't repaired properly if the same key broke again so fast. But yeah, low quality keys like MOXF keyboards.

      Pass on the MODX6 or 7 for sure. I just had a key break from casual playing. No diving off of anything and yes, the bed is simply noisy as all hell two years in. My MOTIF or even PSRs had better action when they aged.
