I ordered one of these. I use an EX-ACTO knife and always run the risk of sticking myself. I think it's going to be very handy to be able to retract the blade out of harms way.
Great video, thanks. I like the tool. The blade play may be a draw back for whittling but for most crafts should work. Hope the exacto blade on the Lockdown Pry does not have this blade play problem.
I have both the Prybrid X and Prybrid Utility. I really enjoy how easy it is to change blades. I'm going to buy some more as gifts, for the price they are hard to beat.
Another comprehensive review from a great channel. I am partial to the #11 blade but it seems a mismatch with a pry bar. I'm more likely to use the utility blade version. Xacto now makes a lightweight retractable #11 knife in a super-hard plastic that is about 8 grams. I'm never without one.
Gerber discontinued a tool that was similar to this called the Artifact. I bought half a dozen when they discontinued it (I'm down to 2 left). It had a similar pry bar configuration that I modified by using a small dremel sanding drum, to kind of hollow grind it, to make it a better screwdriver. Thanks for the review, I will be picking up a few of these.
@@TheAzurinBoyz2012 I'm a sign maker and letter/wrap/stripe vehicles. most have driven off on the bumpers of trucks. The Artifact was the perfect tools for me, a folding/locking #11 blade for cutting and weeding vinyl and a pry tool to open paint cans a Phillips and a flat for minor tasks. Im hoping the Prybrid X will be its replacement but time will tell. i still keep an eye out on ebay for artifacts though.
@@Bob-I-am My Artifact is carried on a medium s-biner on my belt for easy access. so I've never had it open in my pocket, but I think thats why Gerber discontinued it, for safety reasons.
Does the so-called lanyard hole actually fit for a bottled 02 wrench? 02 bottles have wrenched, but I wonder if that will work as a wrench to open bottles?
Love you're vids Ben, I hope in one of your future vids you can display all of your multi tools and have a back story to each one. I also hope you make future "vs" vids like Leatherman Supertool 300 vs SOG power lock . Wave vs Free P4 was the best you've done. Top 5 tools we should have Top least tools we should avoid. Where to buy and which store we should avoid. Thank you for the hard worked you've done.
I have a lot of videos planned for the future.I just have so many to get out that it may take a while to see the one that you’re looking for. I’m also trying to get into some of my real tools as well.
I like your videos. Appriciate tht its sweet and to the point. I like the tool aswell but since i love knifes i think ill go with the other gerber. Box cutters last longer and are easyer to find then hobby blades.
Ok, is my damn Prybrid X defective or am I missing something? I’ve tried XActo #11’s and Excel #11’s, and they both just barely don’t fit. They are slightly too wide and too long, in that the blade won’t go down far enough to seat in the pin that locks the blade in. I have to run the spine of the blades along a diamond file for a few passes and it goes down far enough to lock. BUT, once locked on, and I retract the blade, the tip sticks out ever so slightly.
TX Tool Crib thank you, thank you! I spent some time and filed about a dozen blades to fit it should I get to really using it. Lol. Not the most convenient thing, but it is nice once I get the blades to fit.
This, compared to the Prybrid, is tolerable to pocket-carry (IMHO) because it is significantly smaller and lighter. Frankly though, a RUK is practically weightless (unless it's the titanium version) and works better than either the Prybrid or Prybrid X (IMHO, again).
@@txtoolcrib Use it and play with it often. It breaks in and gets substantially smoother with use. Right now you can get a plain aluminum one direct from RUK for $30. No need for the anodized eyewash with extra expense. I got a black one for $35 though, and yesterday I ordered a second one (the plain aluminum). To deploy the blade, press down on it and slide forward. Experiment and you'll get a feel for the best place to press on the blade. Like I say, time and experience make perfect. I paid the extra $10 for the pocket clip but haven't bothered to put it on because it's so incredibly thin and handy to just throw the RUK in my pocket. Good luck.
Great review! I have a tool suggestion, it is a cheaper tool but looks high quality, I found it on Amazon and it's called the Bibury 18 in 1 multitool, Thanks.

I think I'm going to pick one up. Perfect light duty carry for when I go into the office and cannot carry a full sized folder.
It would be perfect for that application.
Great video, thanks.

I like the fact that are quick change blades as well.

BluestedSRT4 it must be not that good of a multi tool if your down to two. What happen to the other four?
I did the same to my Gerber Artifact as well as remove the blade entirely. It serves as a better, safer pry tool now.

I never picked up the Artifact. So I don’t really have any experience with it. I might try to look on eBay to see if I can locate one.

Is the mechanism that holds the cutting blade strong? it's made out of metal?
Love all the new Gerber knives! Keep turning out cool videos!
Thank you sir. I’ll try.
Would it be easy to change the paracord
It didn't dawn on those mooks at Gerber that this hole could've been designed so it can fit standard 1/4 bit. Ben missed it too

Would the key hole be able to be used to close an oxygen tank? Great review!
I haven't considered that, I'll try to see if it is sized right. Thank you.
I can tell you right now it won’t but with a Dremel I’m sure you can make it work

Well, thank you very much sir. I appreciate you watching.
Very nice Tool, the Mechanism Appears very solid and smooth working, fascinating Tool, very well done Review👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much. I appreciate you watching.
Of the 2 ..man I like them both..its hard to pick..but this is probably the winner
I like them both, but I prefer the utility version just a bit more.
When is this coming out in Canada?
A question that unfortunately I do not have the answer to.
Just found out about your channel and subscribed instantly. Keep up the good work ✌️
Thank you sir, really appreciate that.
Seems to be a rectangular hole on the pry bar. Oxygen tank wrench?
I hadn’t thought about that. They don’t specify it as such though.
Just saw your vid on the bigger version. Great review, definitely picking one up.
Thank you sir.

If only I could open that blade holder and file the actual compartment just enough to work.
I wish I could help. I haven't tried an aftermarket blade in mine yet. I'll try it out and get back with you.

TX Tool Crib An update! I ordered a 100 pack of the XActo XLife blades, and they fit fine!
Excellent
Great. I can carry with reasonable reason
Right not like a cold steel ad-10
Could you review the leatherman super tool 300m? It’s new on the leatherman website. Thank you for your videos! I just subscribed.
It is on the way, should be here by the middle of the week.
TX Tool Crib Awesome! I look forward to the review. Thank you for your time!

Why wouldn't they just stamp the holder to fit the elongated hole? Ver. 2.0?
I think some of these style of blades are actually single hole like the stamping on this tool.

I’ve seen that one, I might try to pick one up.
Of course those are screwdrivers. And my claw hammer doubles as a telephone.
Lol
Still no pocket clip, come on Gerber.
I hear ya.
I can’t say it I just can’t.
Spark Jumper now I’m curious. Go ahead and say it, I can take it.
I’d like it better if it didn’t have the pry bar bottle opener. Maybe I could cut or grind it off?
Long dirty nails YUCK.
The good news is, I just saved 15% on my car insurance with Geico.
