Smoke color 2" tube jig on 1/16th Jig head. The reason this works so well is that all water has leaches and that's what this resembles. Been catching big fish with these for 40 years.
I've already got my order from Goldenstate : lots of minnows and worms (colors which you recommended ))) can't wait to try them on sunday , maybe Lake Gregory or Fisherman's retrit . Yesterday skunked at Gregory (was very cold :) , didn't decided yet , thnks for the video.
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors I lost a 6 plus pounder at the net, but we will find him again!!! Just got too excited didn't wear him out enough, in the net then rolled out!! Oh well. that's fishiing!!!
I use something called Fly Fishing Clips or Snaps here is a link Quick Fly Fishing Snaps Stainless... www.amazon.com/dp/B091K7LTV7?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Make sure you order size L the small and medium are way to small for mini jigs
The fish turning away is not necessarily a line issue. Trout can get real shy in clear water. Lots of times if you can see them they can see you. I usually try different colors and presentation speeds trying to get them to bite. Usually more natural colors work in those situations. I exclusively use Golden State Fishing mini jigs. Very good quality 🤘
Great video. What are the benefits of using the braid to fluoro compare to a straight 2lb or 4lb Izorline? I noticed that this is becoming a trend. Thanks!
For me the 4-5lb braid is better as the break strength is much higher than the 2lb and cast just as well. The downside to using braid is that you have to use a fluoro leader and thats just another knot and potential weak point in your set up. With the 2lb you dont need to worry about a leader but the break strength is significantly less.
Question for your mini jigging trout rod set up, do you spool your spinning reel with braid and attach a fluorocarbon leader? Or do you prefer using something like XXX Izerline 4LB as your main line straight through the entire spinning reel? I have one set up with straight 4LB Izer line and I’m trying something new with the braid (main line) and fluorocarbon leader. I have found that it just takes a little more work seeing as you have to use a double uni knot to attach a fluorocarbon leader to your braid and then attach your mini jig. As long ad you have a good knot it works well until the line snaps haha! What are your thoughts and preferences? Thank you!
Yup thats what I do. I use Phenix iron feather braid in either 4 or 5lb and then attach a RUNCL 5lb fluoro leader with a double UNI knot. I know alot of guys that use the 2lb izorline straight and love it. 4lb may be too thick to get a real good cast with a 1/32 jig but im sure some guys do it with no problem im just not one of those guys haha
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors Appreciate the advice! I’ve learned a lot through the years and I’m still learning, I guess that’s the beauty of fishing. Watching your channel and others on UA-cam that share their experiences and knowledge with everyone has been a blessing, thanks for your content and keep on slaying those Trout! Thanks again.
I use Simms G3 stocking foot waders and Korker River Ops boots. Very nice stiff but also very expensive 😬. Before the Simms I used 8 Fans waders with Korker boots. The boots run about $200-250 but when your on your feet all day fishing it is a huge benefit to have quality boots. The 8 fans waders are around $100 and are excellent quality for the price. Before the Korker boots I used Frog Togg neoprene boots and they are about $30. They will get the job done but nowhere near as comfortable

No weight at all except for the small weight in the tube jig. A small weight on the line up from the jig would affect the action of the jig. That said, ive been asked that question several times and the more I think about it, maybe there are some instances where that might work. Im going to start trying it here and there just to confirm but I dont have alot of faith in it if all that makes sense
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors Thank you for your time to answer the question. I tried to jig fishing at Panguitch Lake last month of the boat not much luck. Since is non stop action with jig fishing I want to continue fish that way to improve my skills. Fish on!

Im not sure. The hesperia opener had alot less people than in years past so maybe there might be less at the mudhole opener. Im definitely gonna plan for it to be crazy packed and hope to be surprised 🤘
I usually get there around 3-5pm on the eve of the opener and have a good selection of favorite spots to fish. If you want a real popular specific spot you gotta get there much earlier.
It can work but its a bit big. Ideally you would want a 500 or 1000 series reel with a gear ratio as close to 5:1 as you can find. Most US reels in 1000 size are 6:1 which is fine just as long as you retrieve extra slow
@@SeaSpankerOutdoors Awesome for the rod, I was looking at some of the recomendation you gave in the video, but those rods like the okuma sst are really hard to find/not in production anymore. Would there be any updated rods you recomend in the 50-100 dollar in 2024. Thank you!
Where are you finding a 7.6 foot Shakespeare? I’ve looked up and down the internet and can’t seem to find one. Even on the Walmart website. The largest I’ve seen is 7 foot
They may have discontinued the 7’6” model. Its been a while since Ive looked for one. Maybe look on eBay. I may drive out to a couple Walmarts by me and take a look
To be honest I’m not completely sure. I used it years ago and just didn’t care for the break strength at the time but i know several guys that swear by it when it comes to mini jigs.
