It's always a pleasure to hear speak you John. I've spent countless hours trawling your interviews and digging deep. I particularly love the Pete Jenner, Mike Leonard and Joe Boyd, one's, you can really get a feel for the love, people outside the band had for Syd. Keep em coming 👍

Such a great interview! John you're so well-articulated, and I love the way you conduct your interviews. You let the interviewees speak, but also pose such thoughtful questions. Your Genesis and Pink Floyd (I'm a huge fan of both) docs are treasures. And I really appreciate that you posted the whole interviews -- sometimes documentaries are limited time-wise. Thank you!

What was proven with the success of the 8 hour Beatles film by Peter Jackson leaving most fan still wanting more, is that if you are truly fascinated by a band that changed millions of lives, editing down a documentary to 1h20 will never be able to scratch that itch that has yearned within you to finally know all about those songs, albums, tours, projects and so much more.
I truly wish that there would not be anymore time constraints for this type of material and would gladly take 20 hours of Pink Floyd or Genesis any time, in a few sittings of course.

The way you always conduct the interview show us mainly two important things: you really know about them, but never a distortion or a personal opinion occurred, letting them feel absolutely free to talk, precious moments, John. Thanks for these treasures.

This is fantastic, John. My brother, Scott McVeigh, has gone through a similar scenario. He was a videographer and director in Hollywood for many years and has an archive of footage that is mind boggling. We loaded a truck with 12k tapes that had been in storage and shipped them to his home in Raleigh NC. He has been slowly (very slowly) going through them and posted one recently about Milli Vanilli that was great. It got very few views until someone posted it on TickTock. At that time his YT views shot up. I don't pretend to understand this - I'm 69 years old - and prefer to just encourage him to put his stories into some kind of form. And, as you said, we're not always sure who owns the rights and that can be concerning. Anyhow, this video is great.

There wasn't much good that came out of the lockdowns, but for a handful of things,
quietness was one of them, and John's uploads were another.

John. Your interviews with the Pink Floyd members were so great and enlightening, any chance of further interviews with Roger, David and Nick covering later years? I think your interviews will stand the test of time just like their music. Time goes by!

Well said by the interviewer here: what John has so kindly uploaded is indeed "treasure" to Floyd nuts like me. Those who carp about tiny things, such as the volume occasionally being variable are mindblowingly ungrateful and entitled. Being privy to the complete interviews is like seeing the handwritten lyrics to the songs.....with all the alternative words crossed out but still legible. What I mean is we can now see EXACTLY what the writer (or person being interviewed) was struggling to convey - and all the attempts to do so. For John to put all this stuff up 'warts and all' involves him putting aside any ego and professional vanity so fans can bathe in the entirety of the material. So for all the nit-picking whingers out there I have 2 words....and the second one is "off". What John has given us is priceless, and he has uploaded it all for free.

Excellent points about the various agendas that can get in the way of getting at the truth, including of course the marketing desires of the record companies . As a former journalist and editorialist, I have always felt that journalists, biographers and documentarians have an ultimate duty to their readers/viewers/audience above all else. On a much more subtle level, I see all the above sometimes confusing that duty with wanting to placate or curry favor with their subjects. (Chapman is an example). With the Floyd/Barrett stuff, all of the subjects have biases or agendas. It’s nothing evil. It’s just a fact of life. They are in the forest, not outside of it looking at it. It’s the job of documentarian/biographer to provide a picture of the forest that is as truthful as possible. If the subjects are hurt by that truth, so be it. The only moral duty the documentarian has to the subjects is not to distort what they say. The primary moral duty is to the audience and to the truth.
