It's just so awesome how MGS2 ends with Raiden fighting multiple RAYs and getting beaten in the cutscene until Solidus ends the fight, then Revengeance opens with Raiden just effortlessly splitting a RAY in two. 'Trunks returning to the future to kill Android 17 and 18' vibes.
Especially considering this RAY makes it’s older predecessors look like canon fodder. And it would probably solo all of them at once. Makes Raiden all the more impressive. He already scaled to Solid Snake. But now he’s just unstoppable
it's stupid because metal gear rex was a literal mobile nuclear launching facility ( with cannons ), then metal gear ray comes out in MGS 2 a more refined version of Metal Gear Rex, which the invention is now more refined and amphibious; but Raiden comes along ( becomes a fucking power ranger with a stick ), and is able to just throw Metal Gears into the air like they're toys, and then cut it in two. What happened to the nukes? Why did they not blow the fuck up when Ray blew up?
@@knights0fember528 Unless I'm misremembering, Metal Gear RAY was never equipped with nukes. RAY was developed by the USMC as an 'anti-Metal-Gear', designed to be able to hunt and destroy more traditional Metal Gears which were being used as nuclear launch platforms. I agree that Metal Gear Rising is a bit more 'anime' than the previous games in the series, but it's not that out of character; Snake could never have destroyed the original Metal Gear REX without a different cyborg ninja (Grey Fox) first taking out the radome.

I couldn't take him seriously Also the game seem too _too_ chaotic for me. "What are you trying to do? Copy (og) God of War?" Now, I know better. I can see how awesome both game, and Raiden are.
People were and still are massively pissed off by the bait and switch that was done in MGS2. Nobody wanted Snake to get replaced by some random David Bowie looking guy they never even gave us a hint of in the earlier games. Also the game he first appeared in was a total mindfuck and anyone who played it and sees Raiden any time afterwards is almost certainly bound to get a headache as they get flashbacks of the plot.
They were... Before we had cyborg ninja samurais and clones of the greatest soldier alive and to be fair, Ray is one of the weaker metal gears out there since it's strength is mass production rather than Rex's Tough armor or Zeke's modularity.

This fight is perhaps the greatest way to show how warfare changed in the Metal Gear universe. The idea that the pivotal, terrifying, nuclear mechas the series is named after can now literally be suplexed into irrelevance is pretty terrifying when you think about it. What was the most stressful fight in the endgame of MGS2 is now the _tutorial_ in MGR. Metal Gears are out. War has evolved, become more terrifying. But the motive never changes.

I had my low spec PC run the prologue in highest end settings. So the game was a bit slow but the epic climaxes of RULES OF NATUREEEEE!!!!!!!!!! were even more epic because of this. The quick time events lasted long and I heard more of the song. It was so epic!!! Especially the second phase where Raiden runs on missiles. The slow motion made it straight up cinematic!!!!! BEST, FIRST PLAYTHROUGH, EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!
Is it just me or does Raiden remind me of Leon from Resident Evil. Think about it, a character who sort of a rookie gets turned into a badass protagonist in what is probably the most beloved entry in the series. They try to be all cool and quip. They are expert in bladed combat They have awesome hair. They're both also my favourite characters in each series.
The fact that Boris is more shocked that Desperado had a Metal Gear Ray and not that Raiden was fighting one, as well as how bored he sounded at the end of the fight, just makes me think Raiden fighting Metal Gears is a Tuesday to them.

When I first played the game I went through every mode up to Revengeance (still playing the AI monsoon keeps murdering me after I murder AI mistral) I didn’t even know you could parry metal gear ray and then instantly use blade mode on him, so I went the entire game not even knowing that and realizing on the last mode.
I remember losing my mind when I played through this sequence. Didn't know what to expect and to be honest didn't have the highest opinion of it when I first saw the trailers, didn't seem like a Metal Gear game to me, and it wasn't. This is the complete opposite of a Metal Gear game but it was great in it's own right and was refreshing to be honest. I love the stealth emphasis of the Metal Gear Solid series but Rising:Revengeance was crazy fun.

If you parry Ray’s attacks , you can enter the blade mode stages faster (parry the stomp, break the armor, parry the tail, break the tail)
Notice how Raiden wasn’t focusing on killing Ray, he was just trying to get Sundowner. If he were focusing on Ray, it would be killed so quickly.
