G'day from West Australia, never could understand why some of those truck floors had a low pressing and other a high pressing!!! Your is now removable for top bell housing bolt access, which is cool😉🙂👍👍
Thanks for the Video.....Its not a Lexus, its a Muscle Truck....and If it get too heavy I'll just add more horsepower....love it. Stay Healthy and Safe My Friend...Regards....
no matter what's going on in the world if you can't smile after watching one of Lucky's videos there is something wrong with you thanks for always being informative and entertaining you are a true shining light everywhere on the Internet
SWEET, the shop truck is only getting better , that AMD trans tunnel is pretty awesome to be able to purchase and not too hard at all to install , with nut inserts that just makes it that much easier and foam tape on the edge facing the trans helps to eliminate any dust/moisture from entering the cab of the truck , a company i use to work for had us do similar retrofits to busses , it was a little hard at first , when you got onto the 2 &3rd ones it got allot easier to do and the adjustable links at the diff sure help, I am going to purchase some of those for my car soon , they just make sense and work very well for axle alignment 👍 look forward to the next video on the shop truck, better more HP than less
I have road raced cars without all of these 'critical' angles with no troubles. Pinion up, pinion down [where it hooks better] with the gearbox in the standard location. Even the tailshaft running off centre with a 9" with equal length axles. And that at 170mph+. The tailshafts though MUST be made properly. And use good [Spicer] unis. The only problems I have ever had is unis binding on severe angles on a classic supermodified on rough hooky tracks, Which in turn broke the diff pinion shaft.
Soo... what's the opinion...haha get it ... on c3 corvette drive shaft angle front too rear. Feel like I get lower speed vibes but thought it might be the motor. Or side pipes
Merci sakes. I always read that with the engine transmission tail shaft down 3° then the diff needed to point up 3° so that they are parallel to each other. Really confusing here.
I know that you fast forward on some parts of your videos so cutting goes quickly. However I still would like to know what kind of cutting disc you use ?
Mine is pretty close to the floor too, same setup. You stole my phone mount idea Lucky! I know you saw it in my truck back on PT2017! LOL! Alanna says hi!
Hey Lucky, is that Infinity radio a boat unit? Can you post the model number? I'm looking for something I can remote mount like that. Ah, I think I found it. Looks like the Kappa 5. Love that removable hump!
Good stuff as usual man! I like the look of that Infinity bluetooth stereo system. I’ve always had good luck with their products. I might have to seriously look into that stereo for my ‘69 Wagoneer, along with the Vintage Air system you have in the Fury wagon. It’s always nice to see a review of a product from someone trustworthy who knows what they’re talking about before spending a bunch of coin on something.
"Best automotive use of a wood chisel" . So many upset Dads wondering where there favorite chisel went when they finally went into garage to get the the thing to fix that stuck door... I agree greatest tool for scraping outside of woodworking. have one also.
Lucky I know that truck in stock from has a pretty noticeable offset on the transmission wear your is centered leaving little slack for in and out movement center looks good but it doesn't have any give so the u joint wear out from lack of lubrication shift it over to the passenger side a little bit understand why you are going up to do the same thing but some how it doesn't seem to me like it'll be happy with a torque load with the motor shifting to one side or another could we're out mount quicker (but what do I know) anyway cool update on the shop truck lucky
Do you think a 6L80e would fit under that high hump tunnel? I also don’t understand the comment about the pinion angle on the rear should never go up. I’ve seen a few degrees up on several cars. Don’t LS engines like to lean back 2-3 degrees, which would mean rear up 2-3, right?
If you move the tail shaft of the transmission up, won't that angle the front of the motor down? I thought that the engine is supposed to be tilted back a few degrees.
Nah. Engines can be tilted back or forward no harm no foul. And we are only talking 3 degrees in luckys case. Probably not even half of an inch spacer will give him the angle he needs. Wouldnt even notice.
wo00oo0h0oo0o0 nice to know that hotrod garage is back filming... love the last show that just aired... you guys fixed the camera mans caddy... sweet... just hope he doesn't blow it up..
Stocker in my 68 still, the worst part for me is finding a steady bearing that can take the torque without letting the bearing deflect, they are garbage nowadays.
"You never go up on the rear pinion". What problem does this cause? I understand the need to have the pinion/transmission angle to be the same (creating parallel/opposite lines) but what problem is caused by having the pinion pointing up?
Be nice when motortrend releases that new video you guys made, last episode on the channel is when you guys built the Chevy 4.1 6cyl. Build a better berra
Thrilled to see the pinion angle discussion come up. There is a lot of different pinions on setting pinion angle up. Some say you read the angle on the pinion yoke, then the angle of the crankshaft/transmission yoke and the difference is your pinion angle.?! I had seen it as...the angle read at the pinion was your pinion angle, and the measurement at the transmission would determine if angle differences were in an acceptable range- which it seems you do too. Do I have that right, or is the 1st description more accurate? Once you have it sorted, I would love to see you run through it on camera with a digital angle finder and share the process! Thanks man!
Both really. So the "professional" thing to do is measure at the yolks. Equal and opposite is what your going for. So if the engine is 2 degrees up you'll want 2 degrees down at the diff. Especially important for high horsepower builds. Now the backyard way is measuring both the transmission and diff and if they are within 2 degrees run it. With 2 degrees difference on a stock vehicle you wont notice it. Its when you get into horsepower where you get axle wrap where you need a setup like luckys and perfect pinion angles otherwise like for lucky the ujoints bind and go boom.
Yes. Or more precisely, they have made them. You can get one out of nearly any 81-87 truck that had a floor shift 4 speed. You will have to weld up the hole in the floor or screw down a sheet metal patch to cover the hole for the 4 speed. I looked for a repop one a little bit, but didn't see any. It doesn't mean there aren't any however.
There is only one negative thing I can say about lucky is not enough videos man please post more I know it's selfish but I'm board out if my mind here thanks for the update
My obs is on a 4/6 drop and has a vibration when I let off the gas sometimes at highway speed, would you say I’m having a similar issue as your pinion angle mismatch?
I have the same problem with my OBS. Tried changing the position of the engine, adjusted the pinion angle, on the second balancing of the drive shaft. I’ve put on new lower tubular control arms. Tires have been balanced and re-balanced. Nothing seems to help. Happens at about above 60 and smooths out and happens coming back through that speed.
That little air powered belt sander just became the most wanted tool on my list.
Bad ass suspension under that rig.
Looking good Lucky.
Nice work looks great.
Nice job love your truck Lucky nice video

Lucky - two post or four post lift for a home garage with 10 ft ceilings? Ready? Go.
Love your cars and awesome shop truck. Mine is a 65 elco .Love the videos keep them coming. Stay safe and Healthy.

SOP for Lucky: Long air death wheel followed by 3M air file sander. 🤟🏻🤟🏻
You kept blowing the floor but the dirt didn’t go anywhere. I guess that’s what happens leaving iPad in the garage. Great video Steve!
Thanks for sharing your Garage Time with us Lucky. Happy Hump Day.

Thanks for teaching us about the proper angle of dangle uncle Lucky!
Remember the angle of the dangle is equal to the heat of the meat which is proportional to the urge to surge.
Thank you for sharing your time with us. Always look forward to your videos. Stay safe out there.
A couple more months and you can pull off the Doc Brown look!! Once that shop truck hits 88 mph you're going to see some really stuff 👌🍻🍻🇺🇸
very cool info right here! What about all those german license plates on the wall ?
My brother's '72 C-20 came with the high hump tunnel for the SM465 4-speed transmission. His is removable from the factory. Cool video Lucky.
I like the way you work Lucky, nice and clean 👍😎✌️
Just went through the whole pinion/trans angle thing on my build. It took a long time to get it all right.
If it's too heavy I'll just add more horsepower. Wise!
Awesomeness

Merci sakes. I always read that with the engine transmission tail shaft down 3° then the diff needed to point up 3° so that they are parallel to each other. Really confusing here.
That's how I've heard, read and seen it done for many years.
That truck came stock with a two piece drive line and lucky is using a one piece....could be what the problem is
I know that you fast forward on some parts of your videos so cutting goes quickly.

Dude... Go get a haircut ! You gotta represent ! Lol
All the good barbershops are closed here in commiefornia!! We all look like that or you go jail!! Lol 🤡WORLD!
How are you adjusting the angle of the motor to compensate for the change in the angle transmission so you're not stressing the bell housing?
You don’t. The transmission mount is how you determine the angle of the whole setup
lucky still blows my mind how he wears a rolex sub while wrenching.
79SNDY thats what they’re for! Haha and he’s probably had it for years and has tons of battle scars.
Mr Lucky that's one Nice A.. Truck!!!
Hey Lucky im building almost the same truck i was just curious what engine mounts did you use for your LS engine?
Real german plates, I am surprised to see that in your shop. :-D
Are you going to use sound any sound dreading material in the under side of the cover ?
Where’s your watch?
Nice work as always Lucky!
Super sweet ride
Great video as always bro ski
Do u have a video of the trans cooler install? Is it attached to your frame stiffener?
Lucky is a wheelman, only minimal sanding to make it flat and smooth.
lucky should be President
“It is an American Made Muscle Truck”.
“and uh, it sounds like one when I’m talking on the phone”.
Keep it up Lucky. Love your Channel!
Looks like that Infinity K5 is exactly what I'm looking for for my Land Cruiser. Discontinued. Sad trombone.
Great Scott's is that doc Emmett Brown are you rebuilding the flux capacitor where's Marty
How has the truck been doing since you turbo it
Hey Lucky, is that Infinity radio a boat unit? Can you post the model number? I'm looking for something I can remote mount like that. Ah, I think I found it. Looks like the Kappa 5.
Love that removable hump!
Pinion angle is so important and gets overlooked by a lot of people

Collision tech here, I use wood chisels exclusively when needing to scrape off old seam sealer. They work awesome. 👍
@@rustyjeep2469 Me too. Sharpen them up and keep them moving and the edge does the work.

Bro, where is your driveshaft loop? Killer truck, hopefully next year at lsfest west i can see it in person.
Driveshaft loop is built into the HPI frame stiffener...
I'm wondering if he's using the engine mounts that came with the HPI kit ??
I enjoy these shop videos, thanks for making them.

That shop truck is the bomb !!!
what if maybe your driveshaft isn't true? what if you raised the back a little? slight rake? wouldn't be bad?
Doc Brown back 2 the future! 👍
That's strange cuz Chevrolet the Transmissions always pointed down and the rear end pointed up from the factory
Looking good👍👍😀🍁
Always fun with Lucky 😁
What's your opinion on the 2 piece shafts I know it's not ideal but what kind of abuse will they take? Stockish bbc?
Stocker in my 68 still, the worst part for me is finding a steady bearing that can take the torque without letting the bearing deflect, they are garbage nowadays.
@@TheCanadianBubba Thanks I appreciate the response.👍
Thank you, Lucky

I was sure the floor hump was the lid off a WallMart barbeque grill. Wrong again...

Lucky. I love your hair ❤️👍🏻
Hey Lucky, do you know what the model # is for that infinity head unit? I’m trying to find something to use in my c10 without chopping up the dash.
Check the long Beach radio from lmc. Its what I have in my 72.
They say more than .5 deg not more than 3 deg need to cancel each other out
For anyone interested in a very good visual of what Lucky is talking about regarding the U joints, see : ua-cam.com/video/Idk3BVDVHq4/v-deo.html
I thought he said lucky charms, I was wrong, maybe this term can be used somewhere sometime.
Why couldn't you put a CV at the trans and point the axle at the shaft?
The truck is so awesome...my buddy is building one as well, its sweet!

Do you think there are C10's on Mars?
if you slap a thousand bumper stickers on that mars rover it could be.
My Dodge already has one of those. Take the trans out from the top!

Why not just lower the engine?
He wants to lower the whole truck. Which means getting everything high and tight as possible.
great idea. makes me wanna do the same thing just because I like the look
