These are skills you aren't going to pick up overnight. Thanks for the extended video, Lucky, much appreciated. (Lucky's a larger individual, but no adult "fits" in those buckets). -Ed on the Ridge
A quick video he says, 38 minutes later and we find there is a part 2 lol. That cardboard work looks annoying and painful, but wow that tunnel at 36mins looks fantastic. Looking forward to part2 Lucky.
I like that a lot better then some guys do.They usually build something that looks like an elaborate birdcage or spiderweb over and around the top of the transmission. With square half-inch tubing then cover it with individual pieces of sheet metal. I built one similar to yours it’s a lot easier and a lot less time consuming and I think it looks way better nice job Lucky 🛠
Excellent how to's, and step by steps= if your watching......... Wish Lucky would respond to these comments at some point........ Doing the same thing, almost exactly! Would be nice to get a few pointers........
Tip for cutting curves with a plasma cutter. Get a bit of flat stock that is thick enough to hold a bend but still light enough to not be in the way and bend it into the curve you need, then hold it in place with magnets or tape or clamps and use it to guide the cut. Flip it over to do a mirror image. Old lids make good circle guides just use a self tapping screw to hold them in place. Remember you need to allow for the thickness of the cutter so you will need to be smaller or larger than the measurement of the hole you cut.
If you have no plasma torch it's a bonus having a rat rod as you just measure cut reuse then shape it fabricate then weld it. A vast knowledge also help's when it come's down to the over all size if you can envision the size width and over all shape you can knock it out of the park.
Every pro knows: blue tape for shop test, grey duck for show cars and black 100mph tape for the road! Bailing wire reserved for true shade trees. LOL Enjoy watching and learning new techniques.
Ur a genius lucky! More videos like these because I'm sure u have way more knowledge to share with the world I mean just look at all that white hair that's knowledge. Professor lucky lol
What's your thoughts on using wire with screws holding it so ease of adjustment if needed for a helping hand to hold the paper template up, along as being able to use it for a shaping guide? Have you tried this method as I don't know if it would be worth the extra effort or not. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
WickedTRX, TV is just a part time gig for Lucky. He builds cars for a living, most of which are outside a TV show. So he uses this channel to show what he does in his shop. The fact that he does most of it as a one man band is very cool.
Nothing like watching years of experience make something look easy.
I love that, CAD, Cardboard Aided Design!! Before I forget, speedometer cable.

If you use 1" angle steel to frame out the floor, it will be strong and clean
Pretty cool old mechanic, don't you think?
thanks. showed how to do it without fancy tools
Awesome lucky Cheers !
Hi Lucky, how long did it take to make that tunnel.
And any advice on fixing trunk floors
What happened too the other guy you were doing the motor trend show with
lucky for President
Where do you get your sheets of metal at I am building a 77 Nova for my son trunk floor pan rusted out
Just order replacement pans for OPG, AMG, or many other places. Less expensive than a sheet of steel
You can do things with cardboard that the rest of us need computers for.
What gauge metal are you using?
cad is that cardboard aided design.
A lazier person would visit a scrap yard with an angle grinder and hit the crown vic isle.
I don't care anything about your tunnel on a roadster , get back to the 66 red oxide Chevelle and 67 Chevy truck
P
I’m going to unsubscribe to MotorTrend... where’s your show? I only know about this hotrod directly from you...
