  • Examples of the tool shown can be found by following the Amazon link below.
Ensure bleed nipple is always uppermost when retracting piston to expel all air.
In this video I show how this excellent cheap tool makes piston rewinding very simple and quick and how this method ejects the worst fluid in the braking system.

I've got one of those kits. Cost me about £18 and it's great. I have used it on many cars and 4X4s. I do/did use it on a twin piston jobbie. I simply used the knackered brake pad across the 2 pots and found that it wound back evenly and relatively easily. I guess the access might not easy with some breaking systems though. Everybody that does their own car work should buy one of these kits, cheap as chips and makes everything so much easier. I agree with the bleed nipple draining idea too.

Thank you, I have done lots of brake pad renewals and pushed the pistons back with a G cramp, but it never occured to me to discard the brake caliper fluid

Hi SiRobb, Sorry to hijack this video comment section. Volvo V70 auto box. Change ATF Yes or No. So much conflicting advice out there.

It's not a simple yes or no.
Mileage since the last change and the colour and smell of the current fluid is the starting point.

@@sirobb Thank you. I am 55 yrs old so come from a generation where 'unchangeable oil' is a weird one.

@@StBlazeyModelWorld Yes, I take sealed for life to mean lasts just about long enough to be outside any warranty claim. 😌
If the fluid is the correct level, bright and clear red with no burnt smell, it's probably ok for a while.
