The crop factor is 1.7 when using the digital image stabilizer, crazy. An eos 90d for example has a 1.6 crop factor and a more efficient, denser sensor. In other words, turning on digital image stabilization in eos r gives you a lesser sensor than an eos 90d would? Wow
Hey, so I noticed the same thing. I was hired to record a speaker at a school and I just put in on my monopod (because they literally have me a 3x3 feet square) and I noticed the same. At first I thought it was me just jently following the person as she paste from left to right on stage but 10 minutes in I noticed that even more and realized it was the camera. I come from an 80D. It did not do that on that camera. But I also did not have the in body digital stabilization on at all it was only the lense optical. So when I got behind my computer I did some more staring at this issue (if you can call it that). I noticed that it only did it when I had the face tracking and servo af on. If I paused the servo af then it stopped. Not sure if this is something I missed in the settings but I don't think you can turn this feature off unless you use any other focussing mode. I did some more tests and only the face tracking did it. Hope it helps. I haven't tried with the digital stabilization but maybe I will run some tests.
Shane Marashi that’s a good point! I wonder how the digital stabilisation from the camera compares to editing software stabilisation. Might need to do another video!
Great demonstration, thanks

Searches IS videos...His beard looks cool, watches video lol
comes for the IS video, stays for the beard. Thanks Legend!
Just a suggestion but you could just back up a bit and do the pan in post. Especially if you shoot in 4k. Nice tests btw

The lens IS was ok. The camera is was bad.
Hey, did you found any free software besides canon to edit eos r CR3 file?
keto vlogger karam I haven’t had a look in a while but I haven’t found anything else. I’ll keep an eye out though!
