Hey klown, Good tip on the Lisle tool. You're right about the special crimpers and they are expensive. We have some at work which runs about $300 per crimper and there's a special crimper for each type of terminals out there. At home, I just solder them in as you've mentioned. Good video.
Hey i have a oxygen sensor signal wire on my third Gen Camaro that was cut while driving do you recommend just repinning it instead of crimping a new connector back on to it
Sorry I'm a bit confused, if it's cut how would you repin it? You want to repin it at a shorter length? Just use a weatherproof connector..don't forget to subscribe
O ok jus been getting an intermittent stalling after crimping new connector on the O2 signal wire I think the crimp probably isn't solid enough and needs to be recrimped since the O2 signal doesn't have much room for error
Thanks klowny your video helped me. From now on I'm going to rebuild the wire harnesses. And I even went out and buy that tool you have in this video. Thanks again!
Very informative vid just wish it was a little clearer. Thanks for showing that tool. That's just one of those things that are not ever advertised you know? I just recently obtained another set of aftermarket lights for my Z, and one of the connectors had come off. I utilized your video to get the pins out, reclamped the wire inside the connector, snapped em back in place and voila'..... Thanks again for all the tips....the paperclip tip helped me out....got to work, fixed it, watched the rest of the vid, then realized I also had a set of the jewelers screwdrivers hahahahahaha....good vid...Thanks again!!...
I replaced my crank shaft pulley and it came with a different connector (round / square) then what is on my compressor. I have a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 2.4 L. What would you do next? Thanks
Great video. I'm to to this, I have an older Toyota Previa, I found a corroded connector. Once I get the wire out, can I simply re-sue the pin at the end of the wire without any adjustment, or do I need to widen/close the pin? I think I heard in the video you have to adjust the pin, I'm just not sure, and wanna do this right the first time. Cheers!
Thank you, it was very useful video for me. You mentioned that the pins are expensive, but do you know from where we could order them? Dealership probably? If I understood correctly the pins connect the wire and they enter in the housing. Is it correct? Thanks again for your video!
Thanks..u can go to summitracing and search for weatherpak connectors or deutsche connectors..i beleive allstar also makes electrical connectors..or u can just do a search for electrical connectors on summits website..if u havent already..please like my videos and subscribe..Thanks for watching this klowns channel!
Thanks Terry.. Im about to relocate by camaros battery to the trunk and my friend lent me his crimper which costs 250 bux haha..its rediculous how much some of them go for..ur right!
nice good stuff always wanted to know how to take those clips out cool & i have those small jewelry screw drivers so it's gonna save me a few bucks ....coool i gave it a thumbs up
One question I am trying to get answered, in regards to "ALTERNATOR REPAIR LEAD HARNESS PIGTAIL PLUG FOR GM ALTERNATORS", where do the wires plug into on the motor? I just replace my alternator and my plug only has one pin, I was sure it was supposed to have at least 4 for a 96 chevy tahoe. So I want to know how to rewire the pigtail.
The plug is supposed to have more pins but there's only one wire. I think someone pulled the pins when they installed the alt. I need to know how to rewire it myself.
Believe it or not important video.. had a bad connector wire throw a code on my coil.. although the engine ran it was similar to a drunken donkey.. which could get your rear-ended.. a new connector at the dealer is 50 bucks.. you actually prevent us from being clowns and buying from them
Hi klowny1969! Do you know a good web-shop that sells in small qty (not like 500pcs) Yazuki/KUM/Sumitomo connectors? They are very hard to find and if you find them then you have to buy industrial qty. Thanks!
+klowny1969 Motorcycle fixed.....I think. Weak connector spring. The spring has sprung (became flattened and needed some flexing.) To do that, I needed to get it out of the connector. Mine is the Molex brand as I am told. Needless to say, the connection feels a lot tighter and no flashing light so far. Just thought you might like to know. It's on a 2007 Goldwing ABS fault!
+klowny1969 Also, check out some of my rides. Not terribly exciting except for the Las Cruces music video! That's why I want my bike fixed to enjoy those rides!
Unfolding those crimps holding the wire to the metal insert seems to be impossible. That's with a good hard poker. I'm sure you can imagine why I ended up watching a video like this in the first place.
You failed to use the word barb. You failed to reset by prying out what you bent in so that it will latch or lock in place upon reinsertion. This will lead to failures because it will be pushed out when connecting the whole connector back together. I have fixed way too many failed barbs because of folks like you that don't get it. Maybe you do because you speak of tabs but you are not clear about the BARB. That is the most important part of messing with this. Please abandon this and draw a picture if a BARB. The thing on a fish hook that holds it in the fishes mouth. You bend it in from the front. Then you must reshape it to LOCK back in place. My first and last time I'll watch your stuff. Learn the proper words. Explain in detail. These folks don't know. They come here to find out and you are not derail oriented at all or can't explain it. There are now me tons of shakey connections because of this . there is even the safety issue of stabbing your own hand unless extreme caution and gloves are used. It's usually much harder requiring a cushion grip tool. Lousy my opinion
While pulling out the bent tab ("barb") is an important part of re-pinning, your tone is so negative that it is irritating... I am here a year later and you still do not have any videos made, so make some before you harshly criticize others... They are maybe not perfect, but people made an effort to make them, at least... Your comment could inform people about your important barb, but it turned out as just a rude comment, IMHO...
EXCELLENT - WILL GET THIS TOOL TODAY . . . FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK THIS IS TOO MUCH WORK, TRY PAYING A JAGUAR DEALER TO REPLACE A CONNECTOR. Check out Ballenger motorsports at bmotorsports.com. They stock a ton of automotive connectors and I got a set of universal crimpers for around 30 bucks that works on all weatherpack, metripak, deutsch, amp, and Delphi terminals.
Yes, bmotorsports, large selection, site is easy to use, reasonable prices and shipping. 2X on $30 crimper. Always crimp new pins. Soldering old pins can cause corrosion.
True but a lot of these are sold out online and your generic Auto parts places don't carry them.. the dealer wants 50 bucks.. so don't feel like a clown and do it yourself
I didn't know Vinnie Barbarino worked on electrical connectors. Good stuff!
Yes..thank u sir
Thanks to you, I saved $220 that I would have paid the car dealer. Excellent step by step video using tools most people have at home.
That lil Prince sound you made is what helped me get the job done. Thanks!!
Glad I was able to help
This guy is hilarious! And he is very thorough in describing what he is doing! Great video!

Thanks klowny your video helped me. From now on I'm going to rebuild the wire harnesses. And I even went out and buy that tool you have in this video. Thanks again!
i used the same little screw driver but still had a hell of a time removing & putting in back in
Great job, it saved me a $60 oxygen sensor replacement.
Donald Morse awesome
Great video.. you speak clearly and easy to understand.. very few mistakes.. well done bro

Thanks for the video. Found a shorted wire that had split in a harness in a 09 HHR. Was able to get it fixed by using a paperclip.
Awesome..dont forget to subscribe and hit that bell :)
For the round hollow tool I used an aluminum tube. Home Depot, Hobby Lobby etc have them cheap.
holy crap, you saved me 30$ watching your video. Thanks Klowny.
Exactly a new connector from dealer is 50 bucks.. and a private auto parts supplier 35.. not sure what one of the devices for this costs
Best explanation on UA-cam, good job.

The reason diy tools bobby pins etc wont work is because these pins have TWO locks, the first tool shows clearly that
could the connector be my probleblem
