    You can tell how much of a dear friend he is to Tina Fey by the look on her face when he walked out and her reaction to his after party joke.

    Horrible and AVOIDABLE accident. My husband is a truck driver and is militant about getting his sleep before he goes on the road. So happy for Tracy and his family, and sorry for the loss of his dear friend.

    • @tartfuel
      @tartfuel 8 років тому +1

      +Candace Neyman Unavoidable? You mean completely avoidable. If the driver was like your husband and got his sleep, Tracy Morgan would not have been injured and Jimmy Mack would still be alive.

      +tartfuel My apologies. It was a typo on my part. While my brain was deciding between the words 'unnecessary' and 'avoidable' and my fingers typed 'unavoidable'. I will edit my comment to correct.

      It mAy be controversial but I think most drivers should go to the doctor and get Provogil(Modifinol). It does not have the same horrid side effects of adderal and would help them keep themselves and others safe on the road. I don't think the Air Force would give a bad drug to their pilots, whom they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars training and allow to operate 60 million dollar aircraft. Doctors also script it for "shift workers disorder" people who work alternate night and day shifts, which essentially is what truck drivers do. Please tell your husband about it...

      +Gaius Gracchus Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate that you mean well.

    • @craigwilliams7490
      @craigwilliams7490 8 років тому +2

      +Gaius Gracchus The key to being a truck driver isn't about taking drugs to be awake and alert during your shift, the key is getting sleep when you finish so you don't need the drugs. If you end up taking drugs to stay awake you find it hard to sleep at the end of the day, so while the drugs will help for a few days eventually you get so exhausted from lack of rest you become a danger. It's not about whether or not the drug is bad its about the long term ability to function. Air force pilots are not flying 12 hours a day 6 days a week for 40 years so they can take stimulants and sleeping pills for short periods. They also don't have the safe option of pulling their jet over to the side of the road and sleeping so its a bit different.
      Note - I'm a long distance truck driver and I've tried both methods. I assure you as tempting as stimulants are in the long term they cause more trouble than they are worth. If you are tired pull the truck over into a rest stop to sleep, and screw anyone that has a problem with it.

    There's nobody like Tracy. I can't even look at him without laughing. Nobody can deliver a line like he can. It's so good to see him. I can't even imagine what he's been through. No one should have to go through that.

    I'm a trucker, been one 10 years. What many of these major companies do to their drivers is repugnant. They treat us like robots, don't want us to have breaks, we ask usually for 4-6 days off a month but these dispatchers want us to drive all 28-31 days a month like a robot could. We push 400-700 miles a day which can wear you down mentally. The driver that hit the limo I bet was pushed beyond his limits or was forced to drive faster than normal to make his on time delivery. Truckers like me should not have to drive unsafe because dispatchers (whom 90% of them never drove a truck once) don't do their job correctly and we get the blame and lose our jobs because we were 1 minute late to a pickup or delivery.

      @anne-marietait7679 8 років тому

      +TruckerExile E ~ I'm not trying to debunk anything that you're claiming with my next inquiry, I'm genuinely curious; I would think that there were enough legal cases (enough precedent) of drivers of all kinds causing accidents due to lack of sleep. I understood what you're saying, I'm just wondering though, wouldn't the truck driver have a case against his employers for demanding that he stay up as long as he did before the accident occurred? I mean if they can prove in a court of law that a certain amount of sleep deprivation does lead people to do things they wouldn't do if they were well rested (such as focus, reaction time, etc.), you would think that it would be illegal for the truck companies (or the taxi companies or the delivery companies, all professional driving gigs,) to demand that people who drive for a living stay awake longer than is medically recommended. I'm just wondering?!

    • @TheDaexiled1
      @TheDaexiled1 8 років тому +2

      Company drivers, not owner operators are afraid to speak up against their bosses in fear of getting terminated from their jobs. Me included. It goes on our Data Aquisitions Report or DAQ which is a trucker's lifeline to be able to get a new driving job, unlike those that drive cars and have an incident, it remains on your record for 3 years, truckers have to worry about incidents remaining on our DAQ for 10 years. Trucking companies look at this to determine if that driver is worthy or not

    • @TheDaexiled1
      @TheDaexiled1 8 років тому +2

      Many trucking companies have vicious tactics. They know we need our job, and silently threaten us to go beyond our limits or the DAQ report will have a termination on the record making it much harder for us to get a new driving job. Having to switch companies too many times within a period is also noticed, they feel the driver is not work stable. There are so many other factors with too many to list

    • @Hunter7023
      @Hunter7023 8 років тому +3

      +TruckerExile E I imagine that's totally true. Wouldn't be surprised if you truckers get replaced by self-driving vehicles the first chance those major companies get.

    His strength is astonishing to me! I can't imagine surviving a devastating accident, only to learn that my best friend wasn't so lucky. In just 15 short months, he has exceeded my expectations and has made incredible progress physically and mentally. I admire his perseverance in the biggest way. Tracy's back! I really do wish the best for him. I hope he enjoys a long, happy, pain-free life and is able to put this behind him for good.

      +MP USMC SRT I am the father of a TBI survivor, and I am always cheered to see the recovery of a TBI "family" member. It gives the families of so many hope.

    • @christopherbyrne7668

      TBI = Traumatic Brain Injury

    • @christopherbyrne7668
      @christopherbyrne7668 8 років тому +1

      +MP USMC SRT given that TBIs are the signature injury of the Irag and Afghan campaigns, I wrongly assumed you would know of it.
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3373009/
      I for one have never heard the term "Traumatic Battlefield Injury" and a Google search on that phrase only returns 130 results. A Google search on the phrase "Traumatic Brain Injury" returns 6,140,000 results. TBI is a mainstream medical term/abbreviation. "Traumatic Battlefield Injury" is military speak/jargon.
      I also have to take exception to your ad hominem attack calling me "self-entitled, arrogant presumptuous uneducated in the facts cowardly hypocritical and completely judgmental."
      I will accept the "completely judgemental." Presumptuous? Maybe. But the rest?:
      - Cowardly? I served my country in Uniform but was done before the first Gulf War.
      - As a "self-entitled civilian", I supported and support both the Navy and the Corps for two major SYSCOMS as a civilian employee.
      - "uneducated in the facts?" Listen dude, I have been living the facts of traumatic brain injury for close to three years now, fighting and advocating for my daughter (who has a TBI) every step of the way. I know more facts about TBI than rounds of ammo you can carry on your back.
      - Hypocritical? Arrogant? You will have to expand on that, because this one escapes me.

      In an interview with Howard Stern, Tracy said that she was going to present at the microphone, and he surprised her backstage shortly before this appearance. According to him, she lost it completely, and he had to help bring her back to get her on camera. So only a short time before this, she was one of only a few who knew he was coming out. His agent, lawyer, family and producers kept it a close-guarded secret, and kept him hidden backstage up until the last minute. And, of course, one of those in the audience who also knew Tracy would be there was Lorne Michaels. But like the others, he kept it a secret.
