    This is the first brand new instrument I ever bought. Got it at GC for $300 & one can't expect the world at that price, but just the feel of it has made it one of my favorite guitars. Throw in the fact that it's a signature guitar of one of the greats, looks badass & pretty good sound, this is probably the best new guitar one can buy on a budget. However, I advise tossing the top pickup, put the bottom one on top & put a DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan on the bottom (or another that you'd prefer).

    I just traded a Dean Vendetta for this bad boy. I’m loving this thing. Im honestly even liking the Jackson pickups lol. Might not replace the stock pickups for the first time ever on a guitar. I can’t stress that enough. Like, he sounds really good in this video but play testing mine all day, I LOVE these pickups lol. So, in my opinion, it just ain’t his video editing making this sound good. I do go for a similar tone as him so maybe I just got lucky with this guitar and ‘my’ tone but, guys and gals, don’t replace the pickups unless you’ve jammed with it a bit first. These aren’t budget sounding pickups.

    I just did a refresh/rebuild on one of these. There is plenty or room for improvements for these. The shielding is piss poor and need's redone, wiring and pots are very generic import stuff. Pickups are 2 wire 7.5 and 15k. I did all the needed upgrades and kinda fell in love with it. I'm not a fan of v's or wasn't before this came to me. I love this thing and it turned out great. Cts pots, proper Sprague cap, some pickups and proper shielding will bring it to life. It's worth modding or buying one and some mods to toss in it. The rear Ferrules are 1/4 or 6.2mm I.D. and need to be glued in place.

  • @jasoncurry8738
    @jasoncurry8738 2 роки тому +1

    I bought the identical one you're playing and I agree on the tuners because I'm constantly having to adjust just a little bit every time I pick up the guitar to play it and eventually I will replace them with better tuners but I did replace the bridge Jackson pickup even though like you said they play and sound great with a Fishman modern fluence with the ceramic magnet and of course with Fishman it transformed the whole guitar brutally awesome but when I changed it out I disconnected the neck pickup but left it in the guitar so I didn't have a hollow space there I also disconnected the tone knob because playing heavy metal you don't use the tone knob and I also disconnected the switch but I still left all of them there so I didn't have holes in the pickguard. I did some research on the guitar and it is a mahogany body with a maple neck. I have other fairly expensive guitars but for the money and just replacing that bridge pickup with a Fishman it plays better than some of my expensive guitars and it just goes to Show You by replacing stock pickups with Fishman pickups which I am 100% obsessed with these pickups even though in my other guitars I have EMG, Seymour Duncan's, and by no means am I down playing these pickups because they have their own sounds that I love too in different applications but with Fishman you are getting way cleaner sounds and you have the different voicings with Fishman and you hear people talk about them being a active pickups but on voice 2 you get a brutal passive sound and even the active voicing sounds amazing. So if you're wanting a great cheaper guitar which it was $289.99 brand new at Guitar Center just that one thing I changed made it sound like a $1,289.99 guitar.

      I have a set of Fluence Moderns in a 7 string that I have, they are pretty good! I ended up putting DiMarzio Titans in this guitar. They sound AWESOME! I also put some mini toggles to have access to the coil changes. Popped in Sperzel Locking Tuners, swapped out the bridge for Locking Tone Pros (Metric, of course). It’s nice having a dirt cheap guitar as a beater! Even with all of the upgrades it feels cheap… BUT good cheap! It’s lightweight, sounds good, and I can play as dirty as I want because it’s cheap haha! Cheers -Ryan

    I also down-tuned I have 10,13,17 on high end and 34,42,52 on bottom end. I had a 32 on the fourth string but I wanted a little more thump, and just changing that one string gave it more as Ola Englund would say "CHUG" and that's playing in drop D.

    I think this guitar is really nice for the money. Did anyone else have trouble with the Jackson tuners? They seem really tight and then drop like a half step almost. Would simply replacing tuners put an end to this? Only complaint about the guitar.

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  2 роки тому

      Upgrading the tuners is one of the most common upgrades for Jackson’s, I find. Sperzels, gotohs, kluson revolution, Grover’s, take your pick. If you get the EZ Mounts from Sperzel then you don’t have to do any drilling. Cheers -Ryan

    What things would you have to take into account?

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  3 роки тому +1

      Floyd 1000 or Floyd Original would be a wise idea. The old Jackson Licensed Floyds were AMAZING... but in the last 10 years or so they have had a significant decline. But as long as you stay away from Floyd Rose Specials you should be fine. Should be direct replacements. Cheers -Ryan

    Got this guitar about a year ago now and got to say it looks fucking awesome in person, but I absolutely have the oul finish, dust and dirt will stick to this guitar over time for sure and it will slowly start to darken the shade of the natural wood. Either way tho I figure it's the price to pay for a sick ass guitar like this so for me personally idc, I like when my guitars have some battle damage or blemishes so it's not to much of a deal breaker if your not super anal about how well this shit will stay clean over time, of course this can prevented for the most part if you get a case for it which I definitely should've have done

Did not have to do anything to the nut. 12s on the other hand... you *MIGHT* have to open the slots a bit... but it’s also a Chinese made guitar.
