man let me tell you, theres a part for every goal on the Q. you just have to do some digging to find them. the new Z shares the same frame, and bolt points for the trans and engines since the 350z, which means they got it on easy. you can find ways to fit all that stuff, and more on the Q as well. one of the first things I would say change, is an ls-diff. I hate the open diffs they come with. After that it goes pretty standard with upgrades, wheels, suspension, then add hp. don't forget that the engine has the same mounting points as a 370z so I'm sure you can figure out a way for an ls swap as well if you want. Best wishes, I'm sitting at 205k miles on mine, been such a low maintenance car for what I've put it though. only thing I've touched in the engine bay is a rotted coolant line.
Ok, I always respect what you say. I just want some extra power added to my Q50 RS without compromising the engine too much. I don't want a tune neither. I just want 500 TQ/500 HP which I would be happy with. The extra power is not for continuous racing. I just want the power to have or use if needed. I am trying to do the same with my G70 3.3 T Sport as well.
just my opinion. #1. Brakes on a street car don't trend to make a big deal, most stock brakes are limited by tires before the actual brakes. I wouldn't bother with them right away and just keep them up-to-date. #2. Coil-overs are a basic need on these cars. the stock wheel gap is horrible. Lowering springs from what I've seen have greatly decreased shocks life spam since their heavy cars. Also doing some research into the right wheel size for these cars are worth it, slight wider wheels (cant remember the exact size of the top of my head) and 20'inch greatly makes the car look better after lowing it. #3.I don't really have a big opinion on filters/in-takes. do as you please, just keep in mind don't expect higher hp over them. exhaust has been a more limiting factor. I've been running $20 filters in my q50 and its a 205k miles, I don't think premium brands will change much in life time or power. #4. 100% upgrade the suspension. if you ask me they have a bit to much body roll, but still at stock its enough for me to know when I'm pushing the car and its going to loose grip if I go any farther. don't have experience with upgrading it, but it would be an improvement. #5. Make the exhaust sound the way you like, what I've seen from these engines is that exhaust trends to be the most limiting factor when tunning with bolt ons, so when upgrading try your best to keep as much flow as you can. #6. I hate the open diff. please everyone do a conversion. its a real game changer. The open diff with tracksion control has never made me felt in danger in anyway, but I definitely don't already trust it and practicing how to handle it when you lose tracksion is a good idea (in a closed safe area). My personal list of what to hit first, coils, wheels, exhaust, diff. after that bushings and rollbars. then go for more hp, while upgrading the brakes at the same time. Dont cheap out on tires for these cars, their heavy and need as much grip as you can give them.
This is why I said keep the brakes simple-stainless lines and better pads. Quite inexpensive and will make a big difference. Wheels and tires is always a priority, but a good set would dramatically reduce the budget. I would also hope, at this point, most of the Q50 3.7 out there likely have different tires on them from the stock run flats which are terrible. Literally any tire is better than those lol.
@@SpeedCultureStudiosTheres definitly some good budget options under 1k. the stock tires always get a bit undershot on cars since they trend to go with a big brand name. Didnt even know q50's could come stock with run flats, I think I got mine on some Michelin Super Sports. my biggest grip about tires is though that they put the wrong size stock rims on the cars. they really could go with wider tires for more grip since they weight so much, and larger diameter, since their weel arch is so big. you can get some solid treds if you really hunt for around $800, and bigger tires for $1000. a lot of "reps" get crapped on for just being a different brand, but even fitment industries is a rep brand, with good wheels. I do get with a budget that close to $2k that is a lot of it. but its one of the biggest things between you and the road, and has the largest impact in driving a car.
@@theglassarrow_ The 2015 Q50s came with 265/35/19 in the rear which is plenty of tire - if they were actually a decent tire. The factory run flats were a joke. I took them on one hard day in the mountains and literally shredded the side walls. But assuming most people have changed out the run flats by this point, the average person will likely not outdrive their tires-even in stock size. Unless they have the narrower non-sport tires. But even then, you have to drive quite hard to meet their limits. So that’s the main reason I suggested to focus on the main components. Even with my list, it left $1,000 on the table to find some good shoes.
@@SpeedCultureStudios sorry chef I started with the base tire size (non-sport, 18'inch). I've definitely been in a few cases over the years where I meet the limit of the tires before acceloration or braking. By then I had the car along enough where I felt comfortable pushing to the upper limits.
Do you think it's a good idea to add a dedicated radiator for transmission oil? This so that, together with its maintenance, it prevents the failure of the valve body.
There is no reason to believe trans fluid temp has anything to do with valve body failure. They just fail. Aside from that, unless you are racing/tracking the car hard for extended periods, there isn’t much of a need for a trans cooler.
I have 205k miles, redline my q50 daily. I highly doubt my trans that shown no issues to this day, needs a radiator. their good for another 150hp-ish on top of what the stock engine puts out.
