heathers west end but i point out the little details

- i could probably rename this to jamie muscato being the best j.d. though i already made that video ;)
there are probably a lot more, but these were the only ones i could see based on the frame of the boot
ok but like,,, the west end doesn't get NEARLY as much love as it should. carrie and jamie were amazing?? jamie was horrifying and one of the best jd's ive seen, carrie gave veronica so much personality. and tshan, jodie and sophie were the absolute best, jodie during me inside of me was hilarious. and dom and chris, best ram and kurt periodt. also the way the tv lights up and glass actually falls on the ground when jd shoots the television??? like literally i could write an ESSAY on how west end is just as good as the off b'way. i think way too many people judge this production off of the cast recordings (i did before i watched this ver, i thought it would be awful) but it's literally so amazing
Seriously, the detail in it is INSANE. They just really encapsulate their characters so perfectly. I also wasn't a fan of the recording but then seeing the boot made me change my mind so fast. I fell in love with Carrie and her Veronica during Dead Girl Walking because of all the extra little things she did and how into the character she was.
This cast is amazing and I will fight anyone who shits on them.
I haven't listened to the whole broadway cast recording and haven't seen the boot either (I'm a west end girl and I love Carrie so...) but in beautiful, Barret just sounded so... bored? In my opinion Carrie just had so much energy (along with everyone else). I've seen Jamie get a lot of shit on tiktok but he's one of my favourite JDs, overall I may be biased but west end is my favourite, I'm sad I never got to see it live
Exactly some people need to show the actual show/slimes to see how great it really is. The soundtrack really doesn’t make the show look great 😬 But still people just need to let go of their nostalgia Heathers West End is not that different from other heather productions, if you hate on this one why don’t you hate the others?
after our love is God, i was sitting in the audience hoping Jamie doesn't directly look at me directly cos he was fucking terrifyinggggg.. Also Carrie was so adorable and a fantastic veronica, fight me
Honestly, I think it's insane that people don't see the west end as being as good as broadway; after all, they do have the same quality standard. They are the same thing really, the only difference is that broadway has somewhat of a cult following as an area, while the west end isn't limited to one overly hyped street. People really be out here romanticising broadway as if you aren't selling a kidney just for a ticket, rather than appreciating the west end where the prices are much lower and the quality is at least as high.
even smaller things that I love in this video
- the way jamie sings "sawyer" in freeze your brain

Jamie's JD is so underrated. He was the best thing about the show for me. I saw it at the Other Palace and I was front row so I could see his face really well and let me tell you, it was genuinely terrifying. Like Our Love is God and Meant to Be Yours actually scared me so much
100% agreed! I was lucky enough to see it at the other palace too a few months before it moved to west end, and because it’s such a small theatre, you felt up close and personal with all of them, and JD was absolutely terrifying, and everyone’s acting was just amazing! I literally cried pretty much through the whole show, my sister next to me probably thought i was dying ahaha
The whole show was such an intense experience in The Other Palace so I don't blame you for crying lol
Im scared just listening to it!

every time i watch heathers, after seventeen, im like “alright folks! this is it! end of story! they were seventeen and lived happily ever after and jd became a great person!!!”
I love that song literally so much idk why. And the reprise makes my heart tear in 5 parts 😭
Ya missed one...go back and watch big fun.
After Martha says hi to ram privately, everyone starts dancing and Martha politely stands off the right side of the stage (in the shadows)
Ram actually goes to her and tries to get her to dance a bit with him. It was actually really cute!!
When she won't dance, he gives up and joins the others.
I really, REALLY love west end's staging and thought they put into their interpretation of Heather's 💕
Wow 🥺
HOW HAVE I NOT NOTICED THIS
That moment could've actually been quiet cute if it was followed by Ram being disgusted during the pinata scene or even kinda pulling Kurt away when he goes to bully Martha, rn it just looks like an added scene. But none the less I guess it kinda pushes out Ram's soft side?

@@averagemusicalfan which isn't something I'm opposed to
1:47 Carrie said in one of her vlogs that every show Jamie would put a different drink in the cup. It could range from water to lucozade to an actual slushie
DID YOU KNOW THAT "ich lüge" means "im lying/i lie" in german... and J.D. says the bullets are "ichlug" bullets from the (german) Nazis in ww2!!! SO COOL THAT THE WRITERS DID THAT!
ALSO the song "I Say No" is so GENIUSLY WRITTEN BECAUSE she doesn't dehumanize him and recognizes he's definitely mentally ill BUT still holds him accountable. AND we don't have enough of that in the current climate. It's the habit to go too far either way "it's ok because you're mentally ill" or "you're a monster"
"Ich luge" means I'm lying in German? XD that adds so much more deception and cunning to this scene especially, "Ich luge? You lied to me!"
also the little part where veronica stutters in "my date kind of blew........me off" is less of her changing her words but more being traumatized by thinking about what just happened. the imagery floods back and she stutters. (just my thoughts)
i thought it was kind of strange that the trauma of killing/helping to kill three people, pretending to commit suicide in front of your crazy ex, then watch that ex blow himself up with a bomb was never mentioned in the show. Veronica definitely needs a therapist
And then there’s me “my date kind of blew… up.”
I love JD as a character, but as a person boy do i hate him
lmao that's how i feel about Snape from HP
Sorry, I'm confused. You hate Jamie or JD?
@@erisstormborn15 I think they're trying to say that the character is well-thought-out, but if it was a person they knew in real life they wouldn't like him.
I hate him both ways.
HES THE REASON I FRICKIN DIED
@@erisstormborn15 I hate JD (how could i not love Jamie!)
Jamie’s JD was definitely abused by Dean way more than Ryan’s JD (neglect is very much a type of abuse). With this especially it would explain why he views Veronica as an object to be used. It’s the only thing he knows. It also changes his cynical view on the world, it’s not just JD being a psychotic nihilist, it’s him looking at the world as the same place that created his abusive father, no wonder he wants to blow it up. If he’d just gotten a therapist instead maybe he wouldn’t have gone off the deep end
off-broadway JD is a freaking sociopath (presumably exactly like his father) who never caused serious harm before just because he didn‘t have a good reason. He wants to kill people because they could hurt Veronica, who is the one thing he cares about.
West End JD is a traumatised kid who doesn‘t know how to handle affection and obsesses over Veronica because he‘s scared to death of losing her. He kills people on impulse, because he freaks out on the mere thought of Veronica changing and leaving him (if for example Chandler told her to).
At least that‘s how i interpret it. Acting really is amazing art.
at least that‘s how i read them.
if u pay attention in Freeze Your Brain u can see that jd needs help very much
The way he ends the song basically screaming gives me chills.
... Just Freeze Your Brain? You’re joking right?
@@midnight_rose2337 he talks about suicidal thoughts, mentions not opening a vein, seems to use the brainfreeze as a form of selfharm/coping mechanism
@@raisedhippylivingpunk8058 I just meant that the entire musical screams JD needing help.

Wow, I didnt know you could make it even sadder than it is already
JDs flinches 🥺
I always found it so satisfying when Veronica and Heather's ghost did the same poses
This highlights why I prefer the West End version to the Off-Broadway version. The amount of detail in it is INSANE! Every cast member nailed their role and put their own twist ob it. And since I watched it 4 times I got to spot more and more of the small things. Can't wait for the Hetahers tour! :)

it's out of frame of this boot but there's a really cute moment right before shine a light... jd walks out to do the av club lights and jamie does this really weird dance... then veronica walks up to him and kisses him, then jd kinda shoos her away like "cmon go you'll be fine without me." storywise it definitely shows how v is still in love w him even after the murders. (it's in frame in olivia's boot if you want to watch it!) really great touch!
I love how Veronica kind of squeezes Martha's scrunchie/hair tie at the end! (8:41). It feels like the cast is slowly falling out of character and it's a mix of Veronica saying, "Hey, Martha. I love you," and Carrie saying, "Hey, Jenny, we did it!"
my mother moved around a lot as a kid, and i can confirm that her and jd's accents are very similar and very mixed american (i don't know all the places she lived but i know she lived in texas, ohio, pennsylvania, new york, virginia, and colorado)
holy shit the our love is god scene is terrifying i’ve never seen the west end version. wow i have chills that’s so well done
what I really love is everyone being back in their proper costumes for the curtain call except for kurt and ram
I absolutely love that there are sections when Chan and Veronica mirror each other.
It's literally one of my favourite details about this production.
okay so fun fact about this bootleg, it was filmed on the 24th November 2018 which was the closing night at the theatre royal haymarket, emotions were high, the audience was extra screechy ( i would know i was there) but it was so supportive and cool. this was filmed up in the gods so you cant see but at some point when people are on the balcony (on stage obvs) sergio came on stage with them even though he left the cast at that point and omg the whole ass theatre went madddd k bye thank you for taking the time to read this xx
sergio used to play one of the preppy douchebags
also according to carrie the audience would always scream so freakin loud when her shirt was ripped off by jamie duing dead girl walking but yeha
Where is the bootleg? I need more Heather's in my life
Holy shit, I've never seen this production before, but it adds so much more complexity and genuine empathy to all the characters, it's so beautiful. It genuinely made me feel like crying at the end, and I haven't even watched the production.
Casey Miller I say no is a million times more powerful than blue balls too
@@DisabledAtDisney exactly!!! It's both more scary, less crude, and more powerful. I love it!
I saw this when Olivia Moore played Veronica (shes in ensemble with blue top and white skirt) so I just keep watching her in the ensemble scenes because there’s honestly so much going on they add so much life to the scenes when you watch it live
Oh, I just wanted to leave a little note
Avoiding eye contact is also an abuse symptom, as "the eyes are windows to the soul"
Reading into a person's eyes allows them to read into yours, and that's terrifying for a broken mind

So I don't know if anyone's pointed this out, this is my first time seeing any kind of the West End Heathers but I have to appreciate you putting in the end because I never realized they did the original, original ending. The ending that was thought out for the movie. Where everyone did die in the bomb. It was scrapped. As it was also in the musical. "The only place where Heathers and Martha's can get along is in heaven."
Uh..... they didnt die though?
@@bi_beans9011 they could've and just didn't show it. The original movie ending had the bomb going off and seeing one of the Heather's getting along with Martha, implying they had died because of what jd had said

ok two things about the bows part:
1) something about how the audience joins in punching the air hits me idk why

I love his JD and the fact they added him being abused it adds so much more character, plus the flinchs really show him and his past. ALSO I LOVE THIS IN HEATHERS
the ending was so wholesome when heather duke puts her hand on veronica showing she is ready to change
AHHH
i am fangirling.
One more thing I'd like to add, whenever I watch that specific production i think of how jd's smile in dead girl walking (I must ride you till I break you) is because he's both ✨️excited✨️ AND because knows he's got veronica in his pocket
I really don’t see Veronica saying “say hi to god” as a kind of snarky comment. It breaks my heart when she says that because she knows there is nothing she can do to stop what’s happening and believes that deep down JD is a good person that hopes will get into heaven to see god
I've never seen the west end version of this because I just really love Ryan McCarten and barret Wilbert weed so I've never thought abt watching it and based on how good it looks imma watch it tonight.

dude the crowd getting into it at the end with the cast is one of the best things i’ve seen in my life
I burst out laughing when Jamie grinned during "Dead Girl Walking". I'm pretty sure the actor I saw in an amateur version here in New Zealand (it may not be their day job, but they killed it) did that exact expression at that time too. He slipped off his overcoat superfast. I wasn't a huge fan of that JD at first, but he won me over. Anyone who can be sort of distant but also charm you at the start and then be seriously unbalanced and losing their mind by the end wins.

8:52 OMG HEATHER C'S AND JD'S HUG LMAOOO
Oh lord I never realised how much I needed this video. Also Carrie is a Queen.
it’s supposed to be antlers because one of the last things Chandler says to Veronica before veronica throws up on her is something about “reindeer games” hence the antlers because reindeer have antlers and in dreams people remember random aspects that blend together thus causing Chandler to appear in antlers
Sorry, late here- the bow in this scene is generally supposed to resemble devil horns, so I think they were just going about it in a kind of weird way.

They were crying at the end cause this was the closing night
The reason the whole cast was choking back tears in seventeen reprise was because this was the last show before heathers closed
I love the fact that the definitive version of this cast is from their closing night, the emotions are so much more real and raw. Carrie did a reaction to that specific version of I Say No, and she talked about how difficult it was to sing properly that night, and how sick with tonsillitis she was. It’s a real testament to her healthy vocal technique that I wouldn’t have noticed if she hadn’t mentioned it.
I legit feel so bad for JD
Duke is amazing in the west end, and I love how she, reluctantly, joins Veronica, Martha and McNam, whereas in Broadway, she stays apart, and the choice is for McNam. It feels like Duke realised what she did is wrong, and is trying to be better.

Just wanted to point out something cool about
This moment and I say no in general.
I watched a video on Carrie's UA-cam channel of her Reacting to this very performance of I say no.
She said the song has a very special place in her heart because she feels that since they added it in during her run as Veronica they likely had her specifically in mind when writing it.
She said she gets very emotional when singing this song in general and she was especially emotional here as this was near the very end of the run.
She said at the end especially she can't look into the audience because she can keep it cool but if she looks and sees anyone in the audience getting emotional during the song she would absolutely break down. Lol.
She also point out how at my timestamp that break in her voice that sounds like she's gonna cry
it's not acting. LOL.
Gotta love Carrie.
