This is why DeSantis, the Governor of Florida has approved removing the AP African American Studies in Colleges and books from schools, "stripping many concepts that had angered conservatives." The conservatives do not want the truth to come out of great of the people we are, their ancestors caused too much harm. We have to teach each other and ensure our relatives stay informed.
It's not simply about teaching "each other", it's about helping all new ethnically diverse generations to learn the truth and do better than their ancestors. As well as the new generations of Black's and Browns to not fall for the gimmicks dished out to us via propaganda, his-story tellers of the government, and media. I'm far from being well educated but when I see a commercial, news report or story told to us, I pause the video and rewind, re-read paragraphs to my kids or show them the manipulation tactics that I see with my own eyes so that they are aware of the programing happening still today. I'm mix, not all whites are bad or racists, but they are programmed, and thus, if we do not help them see the programming, how are they to stop it from continuing? This goes for our Black and Brown youth as well, they are programmed for failure, drugs, and prison, of we do not give them the tools to unprogram themselves, how will they know not to follow the agenda of failure and prison, a.k.a. slavery?
Amazing black heroes that contributed so much to american history. Remarkable stories of black american bravery and resilience are too often hidden away. I enjoy watching shows such as "Who Do You Think You Are? " My concern is definitely for this new generation of young people. I knew 90% of the information you shared. I am all in for the truth to be told of African American history and the history of Africa, too . African Americans are so closely aligned with white American that it is very difficult for black people to be assertive of the path they want to take to carve out their future. Rich black people gravitate towards marrying white people, which makes it difficult for them to stand firm and support their race.
I actually love hearing about those hidden and or briefly noted by history. But if I may, we must expose the good, the bad, and the ugly of history in order to get a much more rounded view of it. This not only includes as it should be, whites as the majority of it, but also black history. As an example for black history, not many know of how some blacks in the south owed plantations and slaves. But if we can know our faults and accomplishments as a whole, and truly learn from these, we can overcome many obstacles.

My heritage is North Carolina not African . My children go to schools where they are asked what part of Africa did they come from rather than listening and embracing where we are from.
