Russia was and still is the best for me. - It introduced a lot of interesting mechanics (Like the dark subway, the extra large deadzone, the Liberator and Firewatch towers) - The locations made sense and went from low-tier to high-tier as you went north - Fun for both PvE and PvP - Plenty of space to build a base - The hype for this map was insane - It came out during the peak of Unturned's popularity (as far as I know) - I'm super biased because I still feel a lot of nostalgia for this map :'( life was simpler back then
Personally Russia I think should be at the top because of the easter eggs, firewatch base (great for gasmasks/filters), big map size, lots of pine trees, big dead zones, some of the best vehicle spawns for good vehicles like the Annushka, the Liberator, the quarry is large, a great amount of military loot scattered around, fighter jets, the scrapyard (great for mechanic loot), and for it being a classic in the game.

If you have to be shown how to play a map that's not good map design...you should be able to play however you want and still have a good experience, an intended way to play ruins the point of a game like this, that's awful map design
Ireland had its development put on hold because of the pandemic, and as such is behind in some story and mechanics, sure. Ireland is more...incomplete than bad per say. It needs to update its story. I like the map locations and that it's a harder map with more aggressive zombies and less available loot. Some places are just gonna be like that. And the ghost and asylum storyline has a lot of potential. I personally wish they'd drop the Nationalist plot but I suppose it's not unturned without some corrupt governmental organization dipping their hands in there. If they make it more connected I think the story could work though. In my opinion, as cool as Elver is, you can't get through that one without a guide or help from others. Ireland while incomplete felt a decent bit more straight forward in the beginning
I think These are the BEST: 1- Hawaii (i enjoy RP that's why) 2-Russia (good Map for Survival) 3-Greece (great map also) 4-Yukon (i never saw any GOOD server with this map so I didn't play much) 5-Washington (i don't really like it, it's SATURATED)
So sad that they removed greece and hawaii. I have spoken to Nelson and he has told me france is here to stay but canyon arena is on the list. And Hawaii dude it was soo cool. had the best aquatic and underground stuff i could imagine. it was so warm and it felt like i was truly in hawaii. Deam i miss the times. Me and my friend created a huge island fort and we OWNED the server. Sadly we lost contact. still have those old screenshots.
ive had alot of really good experiences with ireland, its got alot of quests and you can chose one or more of the three factions. ontop of that its got alot of new weapons and i specifically remember using the hollowcharge as a skillcannon on freezer servers because it couldnt take a sight but it was still a one shot to the body. if you think about it the map is almost like a russia hawaii mix.
Ireland was a very dark map, it was even darker with lighting on and I do remember this map, but the npcs are buggy and it was quite boring and the “Unity” update broke the map, you can’t even play on it without missing object or switching to the version before the update.

Like me and a lot of other people would have thought that he would have already updated Ireland or some of the other maps or items, but he hasn't. I remember getting on the steam workshop to see if he updated the "Dirftless" map, the largest map in Unturned (4 times the size of the Russia map) and a map that I have put almost 200 hours of playing Unturned into :(, but evidently he wasn't on steam in over 39 days (the last time I checked was a few months ago ever since the unity update). I don't know if he gave up on Unturned altogether, is too busy to update anything, lost the files, or just doesn't play or develop anything anymore.
Ireland is the best map.. Until the unity update came out. And then it became what you put it. But before that update it was 100% A S rank. And you can fix the urrm.. Lets just say "Glichers" by going to the propertys and seting it back before the update and guess what? It works!
God the first time I played yukon I was like: Well shit, where the fuck am I? and in a blizzard no less I hated yukon but when I came back to it knowing where shit was I was multitasking my ass into oblivion, to this day I still have a saved spread sheet to min max survivability into the triple digits, bears and wolves can kiss my ass though -_-
why put france at the b section when they got a hecate that freaken 1 shots people and even wooden baracades (they nerfed it but it was still know for)

I think you can download Greece and Hawaii from the workshop, not sure.
