Very exciting to see the availability of fast budget *AF* lenses! The fact you can buy a set of three (23/33/55) for ~$1k is a stunning development I always enjoy your reviews, Andrei, they are clear, concise, & informative; a pleasure 👍
I really enjoy your reviews Andrei. Keep it up! I own the Nightwalker 23mm lens and I've been pretty happy with it. As I'm a beginner, my next lens might not be a Sirui as I want to try other brands. However, I think Sirui is getting a lot right, and is a company to look out for.
Which lens do you think is better for video when choosing between sirui sniper 56 1.2 and meike 55 1.4? I'm thinking of ordering both and comparing them, cause I haven't found any direct comparison of these two
People need to remember that these kind of UA-cam autofocus tests are pretty demanding. Who is going to actually shoot people popping in and out of frame.
It's a perfectly reasonable test. Great to check out how smooth focus will pull and how accurate the calibration is. Say you want reviewers to not do their job without saying you are u do not want reviewers to do their jobs.
@@POVwithRC I didn't say I didn't want them to do it. My point was that in real world use, you're not likely to experience nearly as many flaws as in these kinds of tests.
@@ghostgumsand he's saying people will criticise the youtubers that dont show the extremes. This is how you compare the latest lens against the best ones. Vice Versa, people like you complain when he shows you the performance in extreme situations.
Yes , I did. That's why I said we need to wait more. Viltrox has improved their quality a lot from their 1st gen lenses and I hope Sirui could make the same thing. But for now, they are not good and we have better choice from Sigma and Viltrox if someone ask me for advice.@@AndreiDimaReviews
hi, do you remember which firmware the x-h2s was on when you were shooting these samples? just out of curiousity. and whether you noticed any improvement regarding the jerky autofocus (the thing that it sometimes takes several abrupt steps to focus instead of one smooth movement) with newer firmware either on the camera or the lenses? (in case you kept them or still use them). thanks!
Sorry, I don't remember. Fujifilm just released a new firmware for the X-H2s that improves AF, try that. And check Sirui website for updates, they released a couple of updates since the release of the lenses.
I am still not satisfied with the AF performance it reminds me of my sigma af. Is fuji af better and more consistent? I hate that its so slow to focus and not super smooth like sony or even my phone
The focus is 'leapy', it takes steps to get to the subject and chill out and takes a while to realise it has some focusing to do lol ("hey! where did you go!?! Oh! yer back!" ahaha).. Not really great imo, but in real world projects its usually not an issue (just like @ghostgums says). I think many reviewers are skipping over and not emphasizing the oof rendering, quality of bokeh with these lenses. From what I have seen they have a nice 'puffiness' about them, far less clinical than modern glass. CA is not a 'characteristic' trait, its not something we want. If we could have vintage glass without the CA then we would! But in order to combat CA we get clinical (and I think this is what you meant). So for CA we just have to be aware, shoot less in high contrast scenes, or choose mono. For your travel stuff I do not think these lenses do well for you. They would be great value for students doing artistic short film making work with with people, then they will shine and show their best suit.
Yeah, in real-world situations, the autofocus performs pretty well. Regarding the CA, you are right; that is what I wanted to say. I got lost in ideas when I wrote the script. It's challenging to make these videos, work, and find time for my family. I think you are right; these lenses are great for students creating artistic short films. Thank you for your support over time.
I have the XT4 and the Xh2s. I really regret the step into the fuji world. Fuji is the new panasonic...Autofocus and Stabilization for video is not even close to sony. 2023 and I accept NO excuses anymore. I was hoping for major firmware updates at least for their flagschp Xh2s...but that hope died already after so many years.

@@serj_norv The AF for video is better on the Sniper lens.
@@AndreiDimaReviews Thank you for such a prompt response, it was with lightning speed ⚡
I’m wondering if they’re going to add the X-S20 as compatible. Makes zero sense it wouldn’t work as a newer body that is video focused.
They released a new firmware update recently, check the info on that.
I am holding out for them to release a really wide lens with a wide aperture, Fujifilm system is missing a competitor to the Sony 11mm 1.8 lens.
Maybe next year, a lens like the Sony 11mm f1.8 would be great for Fujifilm X.
Our only option is viltrox 13mm 1.4

Hmm same af speed issue as Viltrox when the object move front and back.
I have hoped Sirui could keep up with Viltrox's image quality but unfortunately they are too far behind. Maybe we need to wait more.
I have a question, did you use the first generation of Viltrox lenses when they came out?

@@vukhuat4251 Ok. But Sigma lenses have bad video autofocus on Fujifilm cameras.

These were pre-production units, and the AF on the production units should be better.
I don’t know if the autofocus is good for video, it looks smooth and soft. And very good in low light maybe because of the camera 😁😉
They are really good in low light. Thank you for watching!

I think 7artisan has better cine lenses for videos correct me if i an wrong
Suray? Or, See-Roo-Ee?
I saw a video in which one of the SIRUI employees said the correct version is Suray.

Yes, the lack of support for their flagship camera is baffling.
