Wetton said Phil was the best drummer he ever worked with, based on this session.

I've seen Phil Collins bashed on UA-cam, obviously by people who don't have a clue. He was a great drummer, but really underrated and unappreciated. You had to have great chops to play with Genesis, and especially Brand X.

John sounds like he's channeling Chris Squire, there is none of that in ASIA. Phil is so solid.

The pocket of Collins is impeccable, the bass player is lucky to have Collins to keep him in check. Sure he has decent ideas but without Phil he would have been lost

Dude, that’s John Wetton. He doesn’t need help from anybody. There’s a reason he was on that session.

Ummm....errrr...... I'm a diehard Collins fan and student. But the bassist of King Crimson, Asia, U.K. Roxy, Uriah Heep, and Renaissance, who did serious time with Bruford, Palmer, and Bozzio, doesn't need training wheels and a leash to keep from getting lost. I hope you're being really, reallyt subtle with the irony. And Fripp didn't tolerate confused bassists.
Fripp was seriously considering making a new power trio out of these three.
Reminds me of a Mensa reject who stated that Peter kept a big bass drum on stage because Phil couldn't play da bass drum too good.

    Are you kidding?😂
Wetton has worked with Carl Palmer and Bill Bruford !!, and with Chester Thompson !!
And with the drummer from his solo career , very very good drummer.
I like Phil, but is an exageration compare with the Best drummers of the world!!
All of them I saw live in Buenos Aires Argentina
    Cheers

Amazing playing from Phil but definitely not right for Robert’s style. Too much Dionysis and not enough Apollo.

@@KyleDavisMusicHung up on the Dionysis versus Apollo statement? Read Stravinsky’s, “Poetics of Music” and you’ll understand. You should also know that Robert Fripp was a big Stravinsky fan. If you want insight into Robert, there is your doorway. ✌️

Ugh.... , Fill-up Colon, so tired of his pretentious attitude and having to hear his dwarf-like voice crying "Take A Look At Me Now" every time I enter a Walgreens. Carl Palmer is such a much better drummer, with Wetton, and Fripp.

@@massimolombardi1367 he's ... a... freemason ! you idiot. why else would we be forced to listen to him on so many radio stations. because he's so great ?!.. no ! certainly he's no hack, but there are way better, smoother drummers out there. with better chops. Colons is al loud and brash across the toms , like some lame metal drummer . and that's what you mush be, another kluncker metal drummer. no soul. at least carl palmer plays with a pulse, and so much soul. you clearly have no soul or pulse, maybe some minimal rhythmist skills, but that's about it, Lars !
