Relax... It's a cool, crisp summer's morning... A truck passes in the distance... Taking slow even breaths, we begin our walk in the woods... A tranquil, yet urgent, flute plays along... We see things, as if for the first time... We do not name them... We see them, and ourselves, as they really are. Les Goe: Flute & Videography Thank you for watching. Apart from his obvious musicality and insane proficiency as a drummer, what sticks out here is his precision. In terms of time keeping, he’s like an atomic clock..
thank you ! even without melody you can sing the tune !
Thank you for commenting. I'm glad you watched.
thanks for sharing this !!!
Beautiful!

Thanks for posting this! Many times have seen Genesis, since the 80's. Phil and Chester are all I know and I want this to be all I remember.
Thank you for commenting and watching!
I hope these two patch things up before one of them passes away
Agree -- thanks for commenting.
Great, man, thanks 👍🥁🥁🥁
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Fantastic stuff. I love these Genesis isolations.
Thanks for commenting!
I've been listening to this track since buying the LP in 1976 so am very familiar with it but hearing it like this - WOW OH WOW!!!
Awesome. Phil's kick foot is something unbelievable. Thanks for this! btw I think it's 1983 (Mama tour) not 1981
I’m not so sure. The bass sounds like the Shergold rather than the Status double neck he used on the ‘Mama’ tour. He slightly modified the line in Slippermen on that tour as well. I think it’s almost certainly the ‘Abacab’ tour as indicated by the title,(probably from the ‘Three Sides Live’ album).
It’s from “three sides live” so whatever tour that was then this is it
@@You-Deef correct… Abacab tour.
Thanks for commenting -- I got it from 3 Sides Live.
This is gold, thank you
Agree -- thanks for watching and commenting,.
One of my favorite pieces to play and a transcendent guitar solo section--FZ was one of the best ever, especially his improvised solos. It would be great to be able to hear this in context--do you have the full mix? It would be interesting to compare it to Chester's "original" version (phenomenal interplay between him, Tom Fowler on bass, and of course Frank). One of the best grooves ever, leading of course to much more rhythmically "interesting" stuff (love Duke's solo in the seen section and Ruth's mallet work is just amazing). I can't recall how many time signatures there are, but there are many.
Just loving these. How about "Didn't Do That"?
Ya know, ...and so to f... would be a phenomenal one to isolate. Phil does some remarkable things on that track.
Wait. When and in what context did phil work with crimson?
Read description. He played on fripp solo album. Peter Gabriel too
Has there EVER been a drummer whose toms sound was as good as Phil's?
Oh, man: The two best things about Brand X isolated into a UA-cam "vid": LOVE it!
Can always pick out Bruford's drumming against others. Bill's simply great.
This is 90% Phil. Bill just adds a few flourishes.
Straordinari! (Journalist)
god da!mn. pure funk
Too much percussion goodness!
Oh man, the playing on the Brand X albums was flipping incredible! Phil Collins is a phenomenal drummer
Quite enjoyed this. Thanks.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Phil Looked great with his hair and beard, he has that real Rock musician thing about him. What a sensational drummer
That bass is disgustingly beautiful
Rather hear Bruford than this Fill-up Colons, this is giving me ear fatigue.
Phil & Percy, what a duo, Malaga Virgin is a brilliant song, great to here the isolated drums and Bass
Amazing !!!!!
Super Collins !!
Bass -> totally underrated / Drums -> out of this world / Guitar Solo -> one of the best ever written the more one of the best ever performed.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
This was a crazy talented band and Phil & Percy made for an incredible team!
Now.. Over Fire Island, please!!
Totally improvised in studio.. and recorded!!
GOOD GOD!
I Saw Narada live with Jeff Beck. Amazing ❤
Always loved Narada's 70s playing, but never saw him live. Thanks for watching and commenting.
❤
Thanks!
A watermelon is growing in Easter hay...
Wonderful! Vinnie and Arthur together is sublime.
Can you do all 3 SUNPYG Inca solos??? This is fantastic
I've always like the first "Shut Up" version. I'll try and post it soon. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Amen Brother!!!

Are you kidding?😂 Wetton has worked with Carl Palmer and Bill Bruford !!, and with Chester Thompson !! And with the drummer from his solo career , very very good drummer. I like Phil, but is an exageration compare with the Best drummers of the world!! All of them I saw live in Buenos Aires Argentina Cheers
Amazing playing from Phil but definitely not right for Robert’s style. Too much Dionysis and not enough Apollo.
lol that's the funniest thing I've read all day.
@@KyleDavisMusicHung up on the Dionysis versus Apollo statement? Read Stravinsky’s, “Poetics of Music” and you’ll understand. You should also know that Robert Fripp was a big Stravinsky fan. If you want insight into Robert, there is your doorway. ✌️
@@houdinididiitFull honesty, that saying goes hard as hell
John sounds like he's channeling Chris Squire, there is none of that in ASIA. Phil is so solid.
As one time.steve howe said: "John played only the requiered.for Asia", then geoff downes added "he was in the same league than Chris Squire"
It sounds like just Phil for the most part
It's all we need!
This sounds really great! Love Vinnie and you did really a great job separating the instruments.... Are you able to do the same with this? Great bass line by Jon Poole ua-cam.com/video/grcp1IyWSVg/v-deo.html
WIldestly broad-spectrum top-notch drummer of them all.
Wetton said Phil was the best drummer he ever worked with, based on this session.
I've seen Phil Collins bashed on UA-cam, obviously by people who don't have a clue. He was a great drummer, but really underrated and unappreciated. You had to have great chops to play with Genesis, and especially Brand X.
@@thesanfordmethod1905 Carl Palmer can't even keep time. Go listen to "Heat of the Moment." Absolutely wretched. A chimp could keep better time. Palmer couldn't hold Collins's stick bag.
@@321snoot and Fill-up Colon only made it in the business, because he plays the game; he's another freemason. seriously, his voice is worth listening to?.. i cringe every single time i hear him singing overhead on a speaker in Walgreens .
@@thesanfordmethod1905 Sorry, Mr. Clown, but it's hard to take you seriously when you can't even spell Phil's last name, and only proves to me you're a dummy. I saw Carl Palmer live with E.L.P. back in the mid 70's and was a big fan of them, so I know of what I speak. I'm guessing the fact that he plays a set with about 50 toms and a giant gong really impresses you, overriding the fact that he can't even keep time. "BaFF BOOFF BAMMM", like some Jerk Off metal drummer", eh? That tells me you know nothing of Collins's playing and only know "In the Air". Ignoramus. Go listen to Los Endos by Genesis.
@@thesanfordmethod1905 you listen "Selling england by the pound" and come back here,i'm already laughing about your ignorant comments about sublime drumming by Phil in his 70s prog fusion days
What a legend John was. RIP
Love it!
